I’m not exactly against scrapping replays FWIW, just this notion that Tamworth are owed something is ridiculous.
I guess you’re not a lawyer
Compensation for losing a game. Lol.
If they hadn't changed the rules then there would've been a replay, and a big payday for Tamworth, FA looking after the big clubs.
It’s easy to romanticise replays in these instances. In reality, most replays are just a chore. There was a sense of deja vu in our tie at the weekend, like many, I did not fancy doing Hillsborough again to make it 4 trips inside 12 months and was much happier getting the game over and done with on Saturday.A few years ago, this was allowed. Quite rightly clubs were prevented from doing this as it handed the advantage back to the bigger club and made an upset (something that everyone wants to see unless it’s your own club) that much more unlikely. Just have the replays, allow the smaller clubs both their shot at glory and a big pay day. It’s only the ‘elite’ who perhaps benefit from no replays and they already have things stacked in their favour.
Totally agree. I'm for them. But the idea Tamworth should sue the FA because they missed out is mental.
Ok suing the FA is a bit strong.
But it would have been nice if the FA, when they change the rules that any non-league Club missing out on a replay are in some way compensated for missing out on gate receipts.
It’s ifs and buts. Spurs may have approached the game if there was a chance of a replay on Saturday. They were probably willing to be more patient yesterday knowing they can pick off a tired non-league off in extra-time.If they hadn't changed the rules then there would've been a replay, and a big payday for Tamworth, FA looking after the big clubs.
1980?I don't know (or particularly care) if PL clubs feel that strongly about it, but I personally think the League Cup and EFL Trophy should just be merged and you can leave the PL clubs out of it altogether. Two-leg semi-finals are madness.
If they hadn't changed the rules then there would've been a replay, and a big payday for Tamworth, FA looking after the big clubs.
If they hadn’t changed the rules then the only club I care about would’ve had a totally inconvenient game to play. And Tamworth mayn’t have even got that far.
It isn't just about Tamworth though is it, how many other non-league clubs have missed out over the years.
The money received from them replays would be a lifeline.
In my opinion a better way of rewarding small clubs getting to this stage would be to have a pooled fund taken from every gate in the round that get distributed based on the leagues the participents are in regardless of results.Ok suing the FA is a bit strong.

Agreed. But a thread on FA cup replays misses the point.Too much power in the hands of the top teams. Football like society, the money moves upwards and doesn't come back down .
PreciselyToo much power in the hands of the top teams. Football like society, the money moves upwards and doesn't come back down .
Think that’s why I’m upset though is how much power the big 6th have while also ensuring no one else can join them.So many on here moan about wanting to get knocked out of the cup early and how it means fuck all compared to league but when there is a chance to moan at the FA they are all about old school lol
I'm sad to see replays go but I also understand it as calendar is becoming more and more congested for bigger clubs and yeah they have the power
Also can't lie was a bit of excitement about Saturday knowing there would be a winner one way or the other
But yeah it's modern football and I guess kids will never know how special it used to be unfortunately
Spot onAgreed. But a thread on FA cup replays misses the point.
In my opinion, the problems began with...
A) The end of sharing of gate receipts in the league (1980's I reckon)
B) 1992 (When football began according to Sky)
A lot of leagues have got rid of the league cup. I'm glad England still has 2 cup comps personallyThink that’s why I’m upset though is how much power the big 6th have while also ensuring no one else can join them.
Would much rather kick them out of the league cup, if they hate playing so many games then allow the FA Cup to be impacted as such.
Always thought the Cup was about the whole pyramid and sadly to the Fa it was all about 6 clubs.
Me too I’d just kick the top six out of the league cup if they want to moan about too many games.A lot of leagues have got rid of the league cup. I'm glad England still has 2 cup comps personally
Is the 4th round extra time and pens aswell

To be fair I think the people complaining about the replays were complaining about the extra games. The big 6 don't complain about the extra champions league games. I wonder why?
I don’t agree. What you are basically saying is that going to watch your team in a football match is a chore. If that’s the case don’t go. I would hazard a guess that if we had had to replay at Hilsborough we would have taken a very healthy following. As for romanticising the FA Cup, that’s the very thing that all these changes are taking away. They are destroying the romance of the cup. It’s easy to romanticise replays in these instances. Most EFL teams would’ve been happy with the changes too as I doubt L1 or L2 teams fancy replays in Rounds 1 and 2.
They won at Burton I think!??Though Tamworth knocked Burton out on pens in the last round. If there had been replays they'd have had to go to Burton and win.
But I agree, there should be replays.
Annoys me. One rule for big clubs, no thought for anything lower down.I'm not too bothered about there being no replays, but I think that is only fair if the smaller club gets the choice on who's ground to play it at.
I would also say that clubs in Europe don't enter the League Cup, so it gives them less to moan about (though they still will) but also gives someone else the chance at winning a trophy (which I'd also make sure qualified for a European place).
When they complain about the number of games when they have squad two or three times bigger than most clubs when you include their development players (many of whom will be on higher wages than even most Championship first teamers) and they'll happily shoehorn in extra games for Europe or money spinning friendlies. I'd just tell them "you hoard enough players, so stop moaning and play the goddamn game!"

It really does stink. Yet they keep changing the format of UEFA competitions, increasing the number of game. Should ne told to fuck right off.Over 900 clubs compete in the fa cup, and we are changing it for basically 6 clubs
Stinks tbh
Fans really are treated like shit these days, I wonder how clubs would feel if fans went on strike. The fixture nonsense stretches across Europe too. I’ve got tickets for Elche v Atlético tomorrow. They stagger the kick offs to suit the TV pricks. This one is 21.30 pm , ludicrous !
