I lost it a while ago unfortunately. Loyalty was what kept me going, now that has been thrown back at me.

I will just go and watch the Blaze from now on, they make it clear how thankful they are to the supporters.

yep, if sisu stay im done, need some proper hope to get my love for the game back, not going to spend money, time, heart and passion watching us die slowly as we inevitably will. Honestly it's not just football this has killed my enthusiasm for, it's made me much more cynical about business in general. the whole thing is morally reprehensible and an utter disgrace.

I've been going off football for a while, I don't watch half as much champions league or PL as I used to. That's why I worry about ccfc being liquidated, I think I would just turn my back on it all together.

Dont bother with England or premier league, barely interested in Champ league.....Im done with City if this carries on. Im a proud Coventrian so it will be an alternative team that represents my City...Cov, Blaze or Bees, but lets see what happens.

There's been no enjoyment in being a Cov supporter for a while now, at least other clubs have a bit of hope, we don't even have that. Just sticking around now as I can't flip a switch and stop supporting, I've tried and it didn't work!

Think we must be down to the bare bones now. Most worrying thing is you look at the protests, fans forums etc. There doesn't seem to be many under 30s, we've lost a whole generation and as the die hards start giving up there's noone to replace them. By the time we're shot of SISU how many supporters will we have left. Not talking about people coming out for one big game, you'll always get that, talking about people who will turn up every week.

The day we went into Admin Sky sports led with, will Rio play for England ever again, followed by injury update on some nonentity whose name I don't recall, followed by CCFC

Whoever buys us/ plays at the Ricoh will have to consider innovative season ticket prices that pull the crowds in. We still need the income streams as well.

Maybe they could but some land near the Ricoh if ACL don't want to play? At least they would get revenue. Perhaps there needs to be a supporters club near the Ricoh? The one over the roundabout would be ideal........If this is about fan loyalty it could actually work.

I've said for ages the club should have bought that and turned it into a supporters club.

just doesnt feel like our team any more but still cant kick the habit...... blind hope that one day things will get better is all that is left to be honest

they are killing my club is how i feel

What these clowns don't seem to understand is the damage they have been doing to the 'long term' supporter base.

We have lost a generation of fans since dropping out of the top flight. The impact of that, is that the descendants of that generation are also lost. It will require a long sustained period of success and growth as a club, in order to attract a new 'spine' of fans , to replace those lost generations.

Simple example- I won't take my daughters, or my grandchildren, anymore. So, apart from my waining support, there are two more generations lost already. They will develop other interests and hobbies, football ( in particular CCFC) has lost them. If they do get attracted to football, it will probably be to a club with more appeal, that catches their eye.

It's a long way back, from where we are heading...........

I wrote this on the forum 30/11/2012. How much has changed since then - it seems like a lifetime ago. But for me - much of it still stands.


Funny that, I was a Leeds fan in my younger days. My uncle used to take me to HR, my first match was in 1991 against Leeds. When I went to secondary school, my occasional visit turned into a season ticket and that was me, Sky Blue through and through. It was literally one of the best decisions I've ever made. I don't think I would have been half as passionate about Leeds or, indeed football at all. All of this talk about owners and finance and people being bitter about the club not being what it was... They seem to miss the point. The reason I continue to spend my money on CCFC is not because I agree with these owners, Mark Robins or anyone else, it's because it's what I've been doing with my family for years, and it's a tradition, a passion that I feel honoured to have been gifted with.

We are Coventry City. We lose all the time, outsiders aren't sure whether we're a sleeping giant or if we've been punching above our weight, if they even care at all. We rarely get written about in the papers or talked about on TV. Referees hate us, our rivals aren't as fierce as the old firm.

But...

We've got the memories and legacy of Jimmy Hill, 1987, the colour Sky Blue, PUSB, Robbie Keane, Darren Huckerby, Gary McAllister, Chippo, Hadji, Hutchinson, Gould... we've even got Paul flippin' Telfer and Paul Williams. We've got David McGoldrick, Kieran Westood... We've got unexpected victories, we've got Sutton Utd, Coventry Talbot, 6-1 down and we're still singing, Twist and Shout, LAST, GMK, Sky Blues Talk, chocolate brown football shirts, stripes or plain, a sort of famous fella from a soap, Mo Konjic, Jarni, Hartson, we've jot a great JSB section in the ground, an awesome badge, 4-1 at the Villa, that last half an hour where we're 2-0 up but still have the feeling we're going to lose, Dion Dublin and his Dube, the commentator on FIFA 13 saying "Fantastic save from Joe Murphy... and the most important thing... we have a hardcore fan base who write on here, contribute to Cov City Mad, organise boycott/protest hybrids, work for the club, wear the badge, bore their friends and flood facebook on a Saturday and talk about Cody McDonald as if he were Torres.

We are special, unique and have a history to be proud of. Our club, regardless of spin and league, unites families and the community and makes me proud. I support Coventry City, The Sky Blues... a proper football club with a proper history, and because of that, I have to have faith in a proper future for the club.

Makes you think though, what we are going through now - this, one day, will be a part of our history, that makes the club what it is..........

Well another thing of note is that of new supporters.

There are always a new stream of young Sky Blue kids coming through from a very early age year on year where they are taken up the City for the first time and instantly become supporters.

We will now have 3 years of that all but drying up completely.

The club are also going to lose thousands of fans for a number of years with no guarantee that these fans will come back if and when we finally return to the city.

That was a question I was unable to raise last night as I didn't get the mic. "My daughter is four and had her first ST last year - what are you going to do to keep her engaged, considering travelling our of the City with a young child isn't a fair or viable option"
