Or been told something behind the scenes, i.e we won't attempt a play off charge?
We've lost several CB's at times and Godden post Xmas, is it bad luck or were we happy with a post Xmas slump after we were effectively safe from new year onwards?
Something just seems off the last few games, not our usual selves but then pop up with occasional last minute results.
We've hit our ceiling under the current owners lets be honest.
It goes one of two ways now. We fluke a season and get premier league and all our financial problems are over, leading to new owners etc.
Or we flog the crown jewels and do a Barnsley
Spot on. We have improved on last season which is what we all hoped for. We are , I think, two seasons way from a serious assault on promotion. All we can hope for is improving year on year . To be where we are given the lack of investment is extraordinary.i don't think we've fallen short - we are where we deserve to be,,,,over-achieved early season.....possibly under achieved slightly late season, I would have taken where we finish this season before season kicked off mid-table solidity is not bad at all.
I am also not convinced we were "close" to going up barring signing one ACM which seems the myopic/sky blue blinkered view by quite a few?
We are a few players short of a top six side we probably need a few more seasons of consolidation and a bit of luck also to have a hit at promotion. But all in all feel we've done really well and the season has been a very entertaining one!
Been a good season but we won't push on from being a mid-table unless there is investment in the team or we fluke a good season

SISU being the cheapskates that they are is what’s cost a potential playoff berth for this team. No 2 ways about it. Robins said as much by saying how their squad was so deep and full of quality while ours struggles mightily in the final third. Seems like we need 3 times as many chances as other teams just to get the ball in the back of the net which is frustrating. Forest are a good team, but I thought we held our own and outplayed them for large parts until their first goal went in.Lack of investment in Jan is what has really killed us off I think, especially when pretty much the majority of those around us strengthened, and strengthened well for that matter.
Still a really positive season on the whole.
Its a fair question but I do genuinely think we have done well this season. We've fallen short due to lack of depth and a couple of quality playersHas the "fluke a good season" not been this one?
As others have said, it's been a poor season by many teams, so opportunity to seize a play off place was there imo. Just a few players short in January.
Least we have one of the least amount of players used trophy though
Nah there are other optionsWe've hit our ceiling under the current owners lets be honest.

Who was available in January do we think?A couple of decent attacking midfielders who contribute goals could have made a huge difference this season.

Paper talk and he hasn’t set the world alight. The reality was that we chose to extend Allen’s contract as he is an understudy to Ohare. Very unlikely a player would come in who could make a difference to our season happy to sit on the benchWeren't we reportedly interested in Cameron Archer?

Good point then and I accept he would have been a good optionHasn't set the world alight? He's scored 6 in 14 since arriving in January... That's nearly a one in two record.
Categorise for them, I'm interested to know the 4/5Have have a core squad of 15 players who have played more than 1k minutes this season (in order):
Moore
O’Hare
Hyam
Györkeres
McFadz
Maatsen
Hamer
Sheaf
JCS
Dabo
Allen
Kane
Rose
Godden
Waghorn
Add in Bidwell so 16 total.
From that I’d argue maybe 6/7 are top half championship quality, another 3/4 are bottom half and another 4/5 aren’t up to standard.
I'd give Robins two more years but also a budget that at least matches the teams mid table in terms of spending budget. I don't think that will happen and I think if that's the case Robins will leave by the end of that period. If he's got us finishing mid table to top half then that in itself is an achievement if the current level of spending isn't increased. We are where we are the table does not lie. We have had numerous clear cut chances to win games and missed them and gone on to lose. We are doing well for the budget, not all signings are going to come off and with our limited budget we are short of a play off place. We do need some quality to make us stronger but Im sure Robins will make it clear to the owners that we have come as far as we can expect so put up some money or expect it to remain a team going nowhere but down again.
Very frustrating but it has been an exciting season and an achievement compared to all the other budgets.
Agree and during that 2 years we need to mentor his replacementEz
