I said one album ! But I understand it's not easy breaking it down to one, but I like several albums yet every time I play Fire And Water I think it is as near to perfection as you can get, it's got blues, pop, and rock, the complete package. One of my favourite albums many years ago (early 70's) was "Unicorn" by Tyrannosaurus Rex, which was Marc Bolan and Steve Peregrin Took. Peregrin Took left and Marc Bolan changed the band name to become simply T. Rex. I had "Unicorn" on vinyl. I raved about it! Just have it on CD now though.
Free live has a great version of Mr Big and the Hunter - fave all time Free track is the Stealer - went I see Paul Rogers do the Free spirit show last year - lived it just like going back in time - his voice is the same now as it was thenGoing back to Fire And Water album. The track Mr. Big for me has the best ever guitar solo featured. Check it out and hear for yourself.
I'm jealous! Never saw Free. But saw Bad Company so next best thing.Paul Rogers one of the best rock/blues singers.Free live has a great version of Mr Big and the Hunter - fave all time Free track is the Stealer - went I see Paul Rogers do the Free spirit show last year - lived it just like going back in time - his voice is the same now as it was then

Off subject a bit. When I was in my last year at Caludon Castle me and 2 other lads bunked off lessons to go round another lads house by the Painted Lady pub. He was a musician and had a great selection of records, so we just sat around his house and listened to music and him playing guitar. His name was Loz Netto and he was talented and we were in awe of his musical gift. Anyway I was listening to the radio a few years ago and a record was played, it was called Drivers Seat by Sniff And The Tears. Steve Wright had it as his record of the week as he liked it that much. And the lead singer was : Loz Netto ! I shouted at the radio " That's my old school mate ! " Anyway hes done well so well done Loz.Saw Free many times, and Bad Company. Some good programs on Sky Arts about Paul, including a Bad Company concert.

Good to see an ex Cally lad doing well. He got me and my mates into bands like Cream, Coloseum, Jethro Tull and Tangerine Dream. I think his dad was a doctor ?I remember Loz.. He was a good lad
It was a great album and incredibly unique and clever. Thing is though, it dated very quickly. Most overrated ? Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys ? Put it on the other night as hadn't heard it for a while. Got to be honest thought it was tedious. Just my opinion.
That's what I thought. But some albums have stood the test of time. Unfortunately not Pet Sounds. It was a great album and incredibly unique and clever. Thing is though, it dated very quickly.
Of its time it is a great album, but has dated badly. I am a massive Beach Boys fan, but it is an album I just don't play.
Surf's Up is a much, much better album I think and has a much deeper, richness of sound. That was 1970 I believe. There is some beautiful stuff on that album.
Pet Sounds sounds quite tinny and without the richness.
I think it dated very quickly indeed. Within a year or so.That's what I thought. But some albums have stood the test of time. Unfortunately not Pet Sounds.
That’s your dad’s fave too!The best...... of the Beatles
And HIS dad'sThat’s your dad’s fave too!
About 10 years ago there was a nationwide vote online and with musician's entering too, to choose the best single ever ? The song that got voted number one : Good Vibrations by The Beach Boys. Bono said it was the perfect song, as did numerous other musician's.I think it dated very quickly indeed. Within a year or so.
God Only Knows stills sounds brilliant though and remains one of the best songs ever written.
I love Portishead. Can't say the same for Fleetwood Mac.Can't pick one out but Dummy by Portishead doesn't have a bad track on it and sounds really fresh. Rumours by Fleetwood Mac likewise
For a long time it was The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. Trouble is, I overplayed it and don't enjoy it so much now.
