Does it matter where the writing comes from if it continues to sell papers and appeal to the target audiences?
Of course not, but news outlets aren’t driven just by what they think most people will read/click. They have editorial priorities which extend beyond that. I know you think some sort of magic AI will be easily able to replicate that, but I don’t think it’ll be quite so straightforward.A newspaper that nobody wants to read won't stay in business for long will it?
The Leveson Inquiry says hello. They'd also be the issue that whoever was responsible for the AI would be pushing their own agenda and it would have zero transparency - it makes no sense whatsoever.
Journalists writing nonsense to fit an editorial priority is just as badOf course not, but news outlets aren’t driven just by what they think most people will read/click. I’m talking more about things like specialist local or international coverage. There often isn’t an obvious benefit in terms of clicks/sales/ratings in covering local council meetings, or famines in small sub-Saharan countries etc. So why do newspapers cover them? And would an AI newsbot have the same patience?Journalists writing nonsense to fit an editorial priority is just as bad
Whoever's overseeing the AI for their publication will direct it to produce pieces that fit their preferred agenda and target audience. In the same way they currently direct human writers to do just that, they could get the same job done in less time and to at least as decent a standard.Of course not, but news outlets aren’t driven just by what they think most people will read/click. So you don’t want anything about journalism itself to change, you just don’t want so many humans to do it?Whoever's overseeing the AI for their publication will direct it to produce pieces that fit their preferred agenda and target audience. I want the scumbag gutter press to disappear in its entirety. As for the rest, the more benign ones just pushing a particular ideology to a target audience or reporting on matter of fact events can be replaced and the humans left should pretty much be the few carrying out serious investigative work.So you don’t want anything about journalism itself to change, you just don’t want so many humans to do it?
‘Make the scumbag journalists/teachers just disappear and replace all the rest with an AI program I’ve just invented, but is still controlled by humans’ isn’t a serious plan, it’s just the ramblings of someone with a weird grudge.I want the scumbag gutter press to disappear in its entirety. For a journalist your comprehension skills are a bit lacking. I mean you asked if I wanted journalism to remain exactly as it is-I want the gutter press gone. Would you rather it stayed?‘Make the scumbag journalists/teachers just disappear and replace all the rest with an AI program I’ve just invented, but is still controlled by humans’ isn’t a serious plan, it’s just the ramblings of someone with a weird grudge.

I’m no fan of it. I’m not going to use its existence as an excuse to start cheerleading for the whole journalism workforce to become obsolete though - that’s where my issue is.For a journalist your comprehension skills are a bit lacking. What you really want this press they disagree with you to be censored
Bsb laughs at this but I’m sure his description of the gutter press is exactly this
What was the Leveson Inquiry about again?
The Epsom college story excusing the murder of a 7 year old daughter suggesting the man couldn’t cope with the success of his wife’s care is following in the footsteps of a poisonous vacuous morally repugnant paper
What you really want this press they disagree with you to be censored
Like the Tories then. What you really want this press they disagree with you to be censored
They’re stretching into the worst elements of radical islam. The Epsom college story excusing the murder of a 7 year old daughter suggesting the man couldn’t cope with the success of his wife’s care is following in the footsteps of a poisonous vacuous morally repugnant paper
Not a great day for journalism. The Mails priority in reporting on the horrific murder of Brianna Ghey appears to have been tracking down someone who could provide them with details to deadname her, finally getting the info from her optician.
The Times then also decided to publish the same details and removed all reference to her being a girl from their reports.
Yep! (The results have been…..mixed)Copy and pasters going? Good.
Actual investigative journalists can stay. (I don't mean people who watch Facebook to ask if they can use somebody's picture of Jesus in toast).
Yep! (The results have been…..mixed)
MSN Fired Its Human Journalists and Replaced Them With AI That Publishes Fake News About Mermaids and Bigfoot
MSN peddled a story about Grimes and Elon Musk based on a fake tweet. Now, as it turns out, that was only the tip of the iceberg.futurism.com
Yeah but my imaginary robot could also do that soCouncil were looking to bail out Wasps last year before a journo followed up leads and blew the whistle. Not saying the story wouldn't have broke elsewhere, but its resulted in the pests being verminated and one of the biggest culprits moving off the council. CET is a shadow of its former self but the human element is vital.
