Finally Going To My first Cov Game Need Help! (4 Viewers)

Hi all so after 20 years supporting the sky blues living in ireland im finally getting over to my first home game to see us play wasall next sat, to say im about to pee myself with excitment is a understatement. So im just wondering i will be staying in birmingham and getting the train to cov whats the best way getting to the ricoh from the train station and is the cov shop at the stadium prob going to spend a small fortune in it cheers. pusb!

you can walk into town, not far from the train station if you take the underpass then can find the bus station pretty easily, if I remember correctly you come out near an Argos, walk straight past through the smaller shops like Holland and Barrett ect, once you reach the top of there, will find a bookies and a Tesco metro, walk up the path on the side of the bookies. Once you reach the top you'll see a fountain and church, turn left following the ramp up and go past the CEX and poundland, finding yourself at the Godiva statue and a primark. Go past the Godiva on towards the Primark following the road down eventually you will see the car museum (and a Sainsbury's). To the left of the Museum is the Bus station, if I remember correctly its the number 4 your looking for as it takes you to the Tesco Extra right next to the Ricoh arena. Getting to the ground you will have to get a Taxi or a bus. Both are located outside the station bus will take you into the City Centre but you can walk it in 10 minutes.
Unfortunately the Coventry shop is located at the Gallagher retail park on the Stoney Stanton Road which is about 2-3 miles from the ground.
There are plenty buses that go to the shop, not sure if you can get a bus from there to the ground but I am sure some of the other posters will know.

Good luck to you fella.

Here's a top tip for you. Forget Birmingham, come to Rugby stay at the Alma hotel which is a short walk from the train station and next door to Quigley's. The best Irish Bar in the midlands, owned privately by a proper Irish man, serves the best Guinness in the Midlands bar none and always has a good band on a Sat night.

Just to add. If you can find the Avon Mill they usually do a coach (numbers depending) to the Ricoh from Rugby £5 return, also does the second best pint of Guinness in the midlands.

Thanks for the replys folks great help im going with a friend who is a mun u supporter so if the taxi less then a tenner get that, should i go to the shop first then the stadium im guessing? Ill be staying in brimingham because closer to the airport and plan a fairly hefty drinking session for that day and night so dont want to be too far from the airport for the flight home hungover ha. Its £22 at the gate and anyone know the price of our white away jersey in the shop cheers?

Out of curiosity, why did you choose or happen upon Cov as your team? Always held it against my poor departed father that he should have moved to Manchester of North London when he left Dublin, rather than Coventry. Enjoy the game by the way (well, the weekend at least)

£35 for the short sleeve shirt, if you want anything printed apparently they have run out of the letter L (good info there). Pretty sure the shop will be shut by the time the game finishes.

I was a united supporter up till 94 saw united play coventry was only 10 fell in love with the jersey and didnt want to be a glory trophy supporter like rest of my friends i always go for the underdog teams started then havent looked back and any country i go or job im in i get some shocked responses that i support coventry anyways ha.

train leaves birmingham at 1.45 so ill be pushing it close to get to the shop and then the game ha

Love this thread as I haven't heard a City fan say they're excited at going to a match for years ! Enjoy the day though and pop in the Wheatsheaf on the Foleshill Road for a few beers as there's a few Irish lads in there.

Fair play to you chap I work with people from Limerick on a daily basis and there good people!

As you will have seen from other posts on the thread unfortunately there is no Club shop at the Ricoh, but the white away shirts are back in stock now and they are priced at £34.99 for a short sleeve and £39.99 for a long sleeve..

With respect to the travel to the Ricoh there are numerous ways of getting from the City Centre to the Ricoh, if you can make your way from Pool Meadow from the train station you'll find all this info pretty easily.

Make sure while your here, check out the casino inside the Ricoh it's cheaper for a drink than the concourse inside the ground and you can stumble out of it into the ground quite easily!

I hope you enjoy the stay and hopefully we will pick up 3 points in what will be a Wembley trips for the dirty Yam Yam's...

You might be able to order a shirt in and collect at the Ricoh. Every week they've done a Q&A which seems to say you can pre-order for collection..

Copy and paste from the last Q&A:

You can now pre-order stock to collect from the stadium on match day! Just place your order by 2pm the day before the game and e-mail shop@ccfc.co.uk to confirm you would like to collect from the Ricoh Arena matchday ticket office on the day of the game between 9:30 and 3pm.

Thanks folks, ya it be a good day hopefully i can bring the luck of the irish get us a win and 3 points, i know its all doom and gloom but im bringing my friend who supports united he knows were not doing well but i dont wanna bitch and moan about everything id rather show him coventry football club and the fans and stadium how good it is and imagine how good it be if we were in the premier league, the potentiol of this club is huge just pity we dont have to owners and proper business people out there to drive us forward and help SP build a promotion team.

enjoy it mate, hope its better than my trip over last week. Gotta say, in years gone by i would have simply booked for next home game, but cant bring myself to pay again for wallsall, so dont think i am going over. will be watching SSN somewhere in Belfast instead

There seems to be a lot of Cov fans (or just people from Cov) whom now live outside of the city. Myself included. Think we've got a bigger fan base than we realise.

ya when i was in ibiza this year i met a cov supporter for the first time ever in my life and to be honest is was actually great to chat everything about the club and the team while my friends who support premeier league teams were sitting there havent a clue about the players and sisu sistation that we were on about ha.
