Republic of Ireland Under-17s defender Darragh Leahy has signed up for Coventry City. The 16-year old has been recruited from St Kevin’s Boys Club in Dublin following a week’s trial at Ryton in October and will train with Jason Farndon’s Under-18s group while he awaits international clearance.
Farndon said: “We’re delighted to get this deal over the line as we’ve been chasing Darragh for some time.
“He’s got a great mentality which fit in perfectly with the group whilst he was over here and he is a great athlete.
“The group currently lacks a natural left-back so we’ve worked hard to fill that position and make sure every position is covered.
“A lot of credit has to go to Carl McNally who has worked extremely hard and formed a good relationship with St Kevin’s Boys Club.”
Who knows In 2-3 years the ROI team could have a backline consisting of 3 with CCFC connections .
The academy has a lot of promising talent coming through, its quite encouraging, hope its to build a half decent side and not to cash in on them though!
SISU will cash them in, it's how they fund a court case.
Corrected it for you.
Stuart Urqhart - what happened to him same type of signing, one for the future and a lot cheaper than an established player, this PR comppany is doing overtime.
