Have a look at the offal- update on there - unbelievable nonsense coming from Fisher - and WTF is it with his bloody photographs
Sky Blues chief executive comments on media reports about negotiations with ACL
Coventry City Football Club's chief executive officer Tim Fisher has commented following today's media reports on negotiations between the football club and Arena Coventry Limited.
He said: "Coventry City's long standing financial issues have been a result, in part, of having to pay levels of rent significantly higher than most football clubs whilst also not benefitting from stadium match day revenues such as food and beverage (as other clubs which rent their stadia routinely do).
"The overall transaction with ACL was designed to address these problems which put Coventry City at a severe disadvantage compared to most other clubs.
“The club continues to pay match day costs, previously included within the rent, in full on a match-by-match basis to ACL. On a full-year basis, this will exceed more than £200K - or double what a typical League One club pays in rent.
“We appreciate that ACL's financial position must be particularly fragile at the moment, especially given its very high debt levels, the recent withdrawal of multiple stand sponsorships and the upcoming drop in naming rights revenue.
"However, the Club remains committed to continuing our negotiations to put things on a normalised financial and business footing. SISU continue to fund the Club whilst these negotiations progress.”
Indeed, though the signing and subsequent adulation by the fans of the woman beater takes away any claiming of moral high-ground by some on here.
Seem to remember debating the morality of that with some at the time. Happy to revisit if you insist
No! Had quite enough of that really, but some parrallels where people were saying that football clubs don't have to be moral, and anything to give us an advantage should outweigh any principles.
Principles are principles, you can't be principled about one, but not the other, because you are then not principled really about either.
But that's the point Lord.
My principle is that if you've served your time you should be rehabilitated into society and as you say, principles are principles.
Not an argument I had too much disagreement with, though he seemed to be serving his time quite a few times without any signs of rehabilitation previously, and not an awful lot of
remorse when he had his spurious appeal.
I can't believe some of the crap I am reading on here - especially you kduffy/grendel. Are you so morally bankrupt that the survival of our club at this level or above justifies any behaviour? Sickening is what I would call that attitude.
Yes, I would rather see my club relegated to non-league, rebuild and with a clean slate climb back up the leagues, and hopefully along the way some court will brush aside all those secrecy agreements and we will finally find out just who ripped us off and for how much, and hopefully some of grendel's morally bankrupt colleagues will be punished for what they have done, whether by the justice system or by God or by some higher authority.
Re ACL: I thought the Ricoh was owned jointly by the council and the Higgs Trust, and that ACL were only the company contracted to run the place. This being the case, how on Earth will bankrupting ACL get SISU a single step closer to owning the Ricoh? Please explain this to me!
Re rent: as others have said, this is the contractual arrangement that the club entered into for - I believe- 25 years, and this is the money due as SISU's front men turned down an offer to reduce the rent by up to 50%. Also as others have stated, the Ricoh is a first class establishment and can in no way be compared to the majority of the grounds in division 1 that barely hold 3-5,000 in many cases and most are old and in need of repair. Please don't compare apples with oranges.
The club/SISU are acting imorally in a big way, they are playing games with our club, and they are going to lose, meaning administration and/or brankruptcy and liquidation. Given the circumstances it is more likely than not that we will go down at least one division, if not several, and we will have to rebuild.
IF YOU ARE NOT YET A MEMBER OF THE TRUST, YOU SHOULD BE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING JOINING AND SUPPORTIN IT, BECAUSE IT MIGHT JUST BE THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE OUR NAME NAD HISTORY !
I guess your are sitting on top of the Jungfrau when you write this as altitude sickness is the only mitigation.
Honestly the amount of moral guff being written here is beyond any belief. The real truth is no-one likes the current owners because they have failed -- nothing to do with their behaviour regarding rent.
Manchester City didn't fall out of love with their previous owner -- a human rights abuser -- because of attrocities in his native land but because he didn't deliver. Birmingham are not bothered about the fraudelent behaviour of their owner -- they are bothered about their league position. Where did the Chelsea Oligarch get his billions -- no one at Chelsea cares.
We have had a serial abuser of women running our front line who we would (and now do) have spouted moral indignation if he was playing on the opposite side. Many were reviled when every Taxi drivers favourite ride turned up to play in midfield. He played rather well and is still adulated on here by some.
You take the Devil and you dance with him. Our Devil has just turned out to be innefectual as well as dishonest. That's what people are bothered about. Still I am sure if it was Mr Coventry at the helm and not Slimy Tim people would still make excuses.
Its hypocrisiy.
Life is full of hypocrisy.
I'm sure their are plenty on here who are outraged with the Amazon and Apples Tax avoidance, will call it immoral, but will happily by an iPhone or order half their Christmas presents off amazon.

No, I illegally download everything from music, films and tv programmes to books now.
I'm sticking it to The Man.
Not tight at all.
Though do feel somewhat justified in downloading music and books which I've already paid for in other formats, in the case of music due to my advanced age, often many times over, from records, to tapes to CD's.
Couple of things .....
income streams ........... ccfc already get all the ticket money, buy in and sell on for profit the corporate and posh seat "experience" including food, already get the mark up from car parking etc so what are these huge other income streams that are going to make the difference. The Kiosks ? So they sell to say 4000 people £5 per head less the cost of kiosk rental 200k pa , wages 100k, cost of product 160k I reckon you might find thats about 40k in current trade. Hardly going to make a dent in a budgetted loss for 2012/13 of £3m. Isnt the severe disadvantage we are told either
Sponsorship. The Naming rights are there for another 13 years or so - hardly what i would call in imminent danger of being lost. There is no good reason to give this sponsorship to CCFC they do not own the stadium ! Stand sponsorship ...... well yes it is coming to an end in current form (LLoyds Pharmacy are there till at least 2013) but ACL because of the lack of success of the team (League 1 Not being a big draw to sponsors) had to market in a different way getting many sponsors for events and usage rather than all eggs in one basket. But again it is ACL's long lease so what actual right do CCFC have to the income they sold that right years ago because they were financially inept and about to go bust! So unless they buy those rights from ACL why do CCFC expect them? I also understand that CCFC have at least some of the advertising income already.
Rent. We all agree that CCFC need to pay some. There are two parts to it, the service charge £10k per match which relates to provision of posh seat/corporate catering, power etc. Thats not going to reduceable and would need paying even if CCFC owned the freehold, it is costs paid by other clubs in addition to rent. No saving and not part of the rent. The rent itself is not L1 average but could be negotiated lower than it is - but then you would have to get SISU to sit and talk, they havent because we all know the plan isnt really the rent. But say the rent was reduced by 2/3rds to £400k that saves £800k.
So TF said we budgeted for £3m+ loss this year ............ the above saves £840k of that at most........... we still make over £2m loss
SMOKE & MIRRORS TIM SMOKE & MIRRORS
after thought ........... the player budget is 4.2m (its got be that with 36 to 38 signed on)..... thats players not support staff, directors, office, shop, wages etc so wages bill be higher than that in total. Projected turnover per TF was £6m ish .......... that leaves less than 1.5m to pay the other overheads if to break even..... but per TF at the forum we are budgeting a loss of £3m so other costs including rent are 4.5m
still think the rent is the main reason for the losses?
