For anyone who thinks our natural level is division 3 (1 Viewer)

Cant believe reading on here that some CCFC fans seem to think that our club is naturally a third division side.

Am I in the minority in thinking this is crap?

To me the stature of our club would suggest a top end championship side.

Either way, that's just my opinion.

The club has been in the league for 94 years, the time spent in each division is:

34 years at level 1
36 years at level 2
23 years at level 3
1 year at level 4

As we have spent 70 out of 94 years above this division I cant really understand how anyone could think this is our level.

@ bigfatronssba.......Not at all mate,. The problem is that a massive portion of CCFC fans, don't know any better than Championship/L1. It's only us "Old Fogies" that can remember the Halcion days of the Premier League/1st Division. Those that can remember, know that we are Premier team lying dormant atm.

I was basing it on something that WUM sonofsnoz said in another post that for nearly 50 years we punched above our weight.

Also less of the old fogies stuff, I'm not 30 yet but still remember the PL days!

If we're honest....CCFC is currently a championship level club & Sisu know it!
How many of those 34 years were we struggling to stay in the prem?
Championship is our actual standard!
What i mean by division three is our budget.
From Richardson's inflated dream of Cov being on a par with Utd, we have had to drop two divisions, loose two stadiums & endless quality players!
Highfield Road was the right stadium for us, Ricoh too big, Sixfields not big enough......despite only a 1000k attendance so far....

I can't believe some want to give up on the Club so easily and start their own. Anyway, while I agree that I don't think League One is our "natural" level, I certainly think it's where we deserve to be.

I do think we punched above our weight for a long time, its amazing we survived as long as we did, too many relegation battles and too little success. If everton (champions) hadnt given us a bye in 82/3/4 (whenever it was), we would have gone down, how many battles to stay up did we have to endure. How many times did we need to win the last 3 2 or final game to stay up?
We were a luckbox of a team and the luck ran out!

There is a difference between being where you deserve to be and your natural level.

Sheff Utd and Wolves also deserve to be in league 1, but I doubt anyone would say this is their level.

We stayed there for 34 years because we deserved to. What ifs dont come into it.

How many years since we last finished sixth in any league?

About the same amount of years since the majority of fans were wearing flares and equally as relevant to this conversation.

We've actually spent 60 out of 94 years below the top flight, I really can't understand anyone could think we're are sleeping PL club. ;)

We are where we are, no team has the right to be in any league.

If I wanted glory I'd support man utd.

So is playing attractive & successful footy in league 1 a bad thing compared to getting thrashed every week in the prem?

There's not really such thing as a 'natural' level, outside of clinging to the past. At the moment we deserve to be in League One thanks to a catalogue of awful decisions. If we somehow recover and end up going back up the leagues, it won't be overachieving or anything rightful.

Agree with Nick. Even Man U can be relegated as happened in the '70's.
Before 1967 we had spent equal time in level 2 and level 3, and for most of that time level 3 was the lowest league,we were one of the three bigger cities with a football team who never played in the top flight along with Hull and Plymouth (still).
Post 1967 we have been mostly in the top tier, against all odds really staying in there for such a long time.
We are where we deserve to be at present, but it is looking up in some respects but we still have a major problems where are income must be tiny, probably the lowest in the whole league, so a return to Championship is not likely yet.

A couple of years ago at the Ricoh I would say we should be upper Championship maybe even Premiership.

Now no ground a bunch of kids we are a mid league 1 side. Fact!

Now for some perspective, I would rather watch these kids play than the likes of Eastwood and Joachim. Just had an enjoyable afternoon at Wolves. When they scored I thought it might go away from us. But no one panicked, they kept playing the way they had, didn't start going route 1, plugged away and got a deserved equaliser. A well taken goal.

At long last I think a little progress is being made.

I think the management deserve to be no higher than the Conference because they are clueless.

Had it not been for lack of investment from said management we would still be in the Championship and playing
at the Ricoh.
