It's obvious the kids are just not up to the rigours of Champioship football, so to "save" Sky Blues I'd:-
Sell the players on high salaries
Sell Juke
I'd bring in 7 or 8 "old heads" who are nearing the end of their playing careers and leave the kids to gain from their knowledge and experience whilst still developing.
Do this and we might just survive and in a year or two have a team of younger players to be proud of.
This is a short term measure, but at least we would have an experienced team.
I've had a similar thought recently ,as we're going down any way but it does'nt involve any new players ,we withdraw the kids and use the inept rest of squad to see the season out ,that way the hawks wo'nt be circling for our young talent ,then possibly when its mathmatically confirmed we can play them occassionally without the expectation and pressure from the fanbase and more importatantly ,these wretched owners
Understand what you are saying V.o.R. I am scepticle we have the "right" characters amongst our senior players to pull the best out fo the likes of Christie, Thomas, Brigianna, Cameron and others yet to come in. I put McSheffrey, Cranie and Clingan in that catergory certainly, they play for themselves in my opinion. But signing "old heads" is expensive.
A Centre-Half, a midfielder and a forward would be ideal but you are talking atleast £30k a week in wages there.
Maybe we could disguise the whole team ,get the ladiies team in ,Crop their hair ,tape their boobs down ,or hypnotise the squad into thinking their those other sky blues ,or just copy Middlesborough ,every time they got the ball in the box against Bristol City on FLS ther ewere 4-5 players in the box.
I think ive just had a eureka moment! seriously, why not have all the players hypnotized by paul Mckenna into believing they are all lionel messi? got to be worth a shout surely? I have just saved our club, no thanks is required. happy days.
A quite logical idea on the face of it..BUT! not without its Draw Backs,
"VOR" I don't know the valuation you put on the"JUKE", but in order to sign 7or 8 experienced players, with the two year contracts they would no doubt insist on,
JUkie would have to fetch, a record, Championship transfer Fee. we would probably Blow, the next 5 years transfer Budget, on their contracts, and assuming it worked and we stayed up, we would have to face next season with an aging squad, and not enough treatment Tables to put them on.
YOur Idea sounds plausable, in the short term, but with Sisu having a spending embargo, I'm pretty certain that any money gleaned from the sale of any of our players, will be used to pay the milk man, the Butcher, baker, and canteen staff.
VOR, Its a nice idea, but the logistics just don't add up.
