So with no CCFC in my city I wouldn't be against going to watch Coventry Utd.

Also I would never in the circumstances ever consider it to be in anyway a form of franchising.

That's great don, for everyone who lives or comes from Coventry, I'm sure they will be proud to watch a team play in civic colours and have civic badge. What about the masses of fans (~50%+) that don't, who come from nuneaton, Bedworth, rugby, leamington, Warwick and further a field? Why would they choose cov united and recognise cov united as ccfc mk2, when they have clubs in their towns they have more affinity with playing in the same/similar league? You seem to forget ccfc catchment stretches much further than the Coventry boundary.

Now if it was true Phoenix club with the history, fa cup win, 35 years in the top flight, etc, they would have an affinity and they would recognise (ala AFC Wimbledon) thr new club as ccfc rebirthed.

I've wasted enough time on this.

How you getting on with proving that Mr Armstrong is factually wrong in a public statement he made about a meeting he was in. That you were not in?

CCFC getting liquidated and someone supporting a non league club called Coventry. That was set up in response to one of the main actions that will have led to end of Coventry. The fan supports them because they no longer have their own club to support.

So you must except then that it's just as likely the the "legal noise" is just as likely to the issue as it isn't.

The true Manchester people would probably switch to their local team.
If they need a football fix.
It is definitely not the same as supporting a bigger club from another city whilst at the same time saying you also support your own team.

Have to agree with this. If CCFC disappeared I can't see me switching my support to Cov United. I'll more likely just start watching Rugby Town more and leave it at that while wishing CU and those who have switched all the best.

Wasps and SISU both say Wasps have never told SISU directly to drop the legal action.

Wasps have said they don't want to carry on negotiations whilst it's going on in the background.

Wasps said the deal under discussion was 20-25 years.
CCFC said they were looking for a long term solution during the talks.

I can see absolutely no reason for Grendel to say the above is factually incorrect.
Nobody seems to be disputing it was what was said other than Grendel.

Which takes me back on tract to where Grendel chipped in with his non factual statement.

If you were discussing a 20-25 year long term business arrangement with someone. If they were taking legal action against one of your most important business associates. Also they are looking to take further legal action that names you and drags you into it.

Is it unreasonable for you to say I don't want to commit to a long term deal with this person till all that legal action is out if the way?

If Coventry City Football Clib were liquidated that's the end of that name. Everyone saying ccfc won't be liquidated but at the moment who knows, this sisu outfit will do whatever benefits them and their business, that the moment they have to drop the legals, negotiate a new deal for the Ricoh or build a ground. JR2 isn't until December apparently and if they lose ?? Perhaps another appeal ? How does a business like a FL football club carry on with no ground and perhaps no Golden Share.

Yes I would guess quite a few will switch to their local town club if they can.
However if Cov Utd climbed the leagues. Many more would start taking an interest. In my opinion

If there were no CCFC people may start watching local non-league teams... Or become Man U or similar fans. I would probably go to the occasional Cov United game when I come home to Cov if they were playing at the Butts. That would be my local non-league team as I grew up not far from there. I like the pubs in Craven Street and Lord Street and would pop in for a drink after the game.

I hope that it doesn't come to that though and believe that someone will see the value of the golden share coupled with the history of CCFC.

Very possible. Especially if it's successfully adopted as the cities main football team by the majority and Coventry stays essentially what is a 1 team city. Hell, I might even jump back on the glory bus myself at some point in the future but it would have to feel right and that's the bit that isn't guaranteed.

Haven't lived in Cov since I was 9 (41 years!),and my only association with the City is CCFC. No interest in Cove Utd or any other local club in the area. Would go and watch Kettering Town on occasions (lived there when I was a kid - still not the same though. .

No one is denying they said it. I just don't believe it. It's a strange phrase for a start as it's non committal I'm saying legal action is a factor.

I'm pretty sure it isn't but it's obviously a good tactic as it deflects focus from them, especially when drones like you take everything people say at face value.

I'm pretty certain if they'd signed a proposal made that little noise would have been forgotten.

It will look quite reasonable to the MP's and FL, that if you were going to enter into a 20-25 year business deal with someone. If you turn around and say you want any legal action they maybe dragging you into out of the way first.

You then started making a big deal about that it wasn't a 20 year deal and questioning how I knew it was. That the legal situation is nothing to do with it. Stating that I was factually incorrect in both areas.

I merely provided you with evidence of where the 20 year suggestion came from. Also where the legal noise bit came from. I then asked you to provide some evidence as to how you know it is factually incorrect?

They are on the verge of getting dragged into to somebody else's legal dispute. They may feel the Ace is worth a lot more at that point than it is now. (Just my opinion)

But neither Wasps or the club are saying that.

Wasps have said what happened and the club haven't argued with what Wasps said.

no, nothing comes close, not England or anyone.

No, only cov, although their have been instances when england were playing and I've gone mad cheering. Beckham's last minute freekick against Greece springs to mind.
