Weird how one player can divide opinion like this. Some people saying he's awful, others saying potential to be best in the division. Really is mental how people's views of the same games differ. Anyway for what it's worth I'd bring him back of his wages were low. Worth a punt on his potential and he's a decent squad player for now.

No, 13 games doesn't make somebody an experienced Premier League footballer whether I like them or not.

I'm not on the wind-up, I genuinely believe Gael has the potential to be a very good player at this level. I only seem him in a handful of games last season and bar his debut 10/15 minute appearance (which granted was very poor), I thought he looked a class above most other players on the field. Exactly the same as what I thought during his original spell with us.

If we do sign him this season, I very much look forward to the "I told you so" thread that will pop up around May 2017.

Anybody with any common sense would take him back in a heartbeat. He's a championship level player IMO.

But i assume the geordies will want a few quid, and he'll have to accept quite a significant pay cut...can't see it happening myself

Christ he's not that bad. Played well on a few occasions last season, notably Bradford away.

Needs a full season playing week in week out to see where's he's at. Not sure we have the budget to make that gamble though

however current Gael would be 4th choice behind Rose, Gadzhev and McCann

He has actually started only 3 premier league games - most of his other substitute appearances were late appearances so in terms of game time it's a lot less.

It's also irrelevant as to his ability now.

I'm really surprised to see so many people keen to have him back.

He did a couple of alright things last season, but was one of the worst players on the pitch the majority of the time he played. Does everyone forget the eery shudder in the stadium when he was about to be bought on as a substitute?

I maybe, just maybe can tolerate him as a squad player on a low wage. However, we already needed another CM and now we have lost Vincelot too. If the budget is tight we need to look at bringing better quality in.

To have Bigi in as a replacement for Vincelot is in no way acceptable on any level.

It wouldn't matter how many games he played - he is now in the championship and they still don't want him - also it seems no bids have come in which is odd of he is such a special talent who just needs a few games under his belt.

I think there is still the potential of a good player in there. One of the very few ex players I would have back. He started well at Newcastle then seems to have had some bad luck.

If Mowbray has other ideas I wouldn't be disappointed either. This one may have to wait until January when McCann exits.

He was good for a while many years ago......recently he appears to be a 3rd division plodder.....

I'd be more than a little concerned if he came back. If he comes back it needs to be newcastle paying his wages or a seriously low cost to us, it would be a waste of the tiny resources we have if we spend any money on Bigi. Better quality if needed as our current defense and midfield are barely a skeleton of a team we need to be competitive.

When he played last season he was lightweight, looked to have little to no forward vision whatsoever, passed the ball as often forwards as Fleck did in the back half of the season. Then hes played as a defensive mid and can barely make a tackle, muscled off to easily and too often out of position. Albeit that was a team-wide issue much of the time.

Personally, I'd rather not take him at all and wait in hope we get someone else with the money. Thats making a bold assumption we aren't already at our wage budget...

I know when he joined Newcastle he was on ~£7k per week if he didn't play (1st team), ~£15k per week if he did. I'm assuming he's still on that sort of money, so unfortunately I don't think we really have much of a chance.
