It was quite harsh when he got sacked by Swansea too. For a while he was doing very well there and a few had mentioned he was going to be in the running for the England job.

Was reading a story on the Guardian about Monk and Swansea. Their fans believe him to be the beginning of their decline as he stopped them playing the attractive way that got them three promotions.

And Middlesbrough have, probably, underperformed this season.

It's also very unlike Gibson to be quite so ruthless with his managers. He tends to give them time when he shouldn't, really! So for Monk to go so soon...

Sounds like the proverbial managerial merry go round. Beyond the new manager bounce, wonder how many of these new managers will improve things long term for their new clubs? Given our own experience of regularly changing managers but not seeing long-term improvement it does make you think of the definition of madness as being doing the same thing over and over and being surprised when the result doesn't change.
