OK, I waded in based on one post without reading the thread.
I don't buy into the lazy 'racist PM' tropes though.
Because people like yourself are always pushing one side of the story and not the other.
I'm guessing the reference is to the letterbox comment he made. Read the whole piece though and it does shed a slightly different light on it given that he was defending the right of Muslim women to wear the hijab in response to Denmark's decision to ban it. I'm not sure why he uses such silly language though, it's foolish and clumsy, and detracted from what was probably a reasonable point.
We have to be careful though that legitimate criticism of Islam, whether that be in relation to the oppression of women, FGM, the murder of homosexuals etc. is not shut down. It's why I dislike the word 'islamaphobia'. The word has no meaning. Criticism of Islam should not be confused with racism against Muslims.
I love your optimism that there will even be a health service under the Tories.
Oh, you’re one of those.
Not sure what one of 'those' is, but if it is someone who feels that we should be allowed to criticise female genital mutilation, the throwing of homosexuals from the top of buildings, honour killings, the subjugation of women without being labelled a racist, then yes, count me in. I just happen to feel that, as Christopher Hitchens predicted, the word 'Islamaphobia' has been politicised and is increasingly being used to shut down legitimate criticism of fundamentalist adherents to that ideology.
Sure buddy. Not calling Muslim women letterboxes is basically a blasphemy law. Gotcha.
I missed your searing takedown of the other, majority white, religions.
Are you a living breathing Sun headline?Hopefully Boris can get his majority this week! Taxi for Commie Corbyn
And this one here, which explains how the story emerged.Read this short thread and see how social media manipulates.
They’re getting a panic on this morning. Are you a living breathing Sun headline?
Nah just love winding up people on this threadAre you a living breathing Sun headline?
If true I feel even more justified in my original response...suggesting something else was at workYeah, apparently so. He was in with flu, so wasn't given a bed because, well, he had flu. He was placed on the floor on some coats by his parents who then sent images to the Mirror. Was discharged soon after. Using your sick child as a political prop, that's pretty low.
Nope...as you can see from latest reports...my thought considered approach & attempt at balancing things (which you leapt in to accuse me of deflecting) may actually have been exactly right. There is a difference between winding-up, deflecting & considering & balancing the bigger pictureNope it's because you were...deflecting. In other words, you're here to WUM.
You're proving my point exactly, and you're much better than that shmmeee. What is it about the criticism of Islam that bothers you so much? A take down of other religions? Sure, I'm happy to do that. As an atheist I'll happily take them all on. Fundamentalist Christianity - I could fill my boots, but that wasn't the issue being discussed. An if I did, I doubt you'd accuse me of having an ulterior motive. In the case of Islam I haven't. Genuinely. Some of the most affecting, harrowing, inspiring human stories I have ever read of muslim women escaping persecution in Islamic countries.
Now, I was suggesting that perhaps Boris also doesn't have the ulterior motive you think he might have. Maybe he does, it's up to you to make that judgement. But it is noticeable, that the moment I mentioned Islam and the criticism of it, I am jumped on, labelled as 'one of those' and there is a suggestion of an underlying racism or prejudice against individuals that simply does not exist. I find it odd.
She's a medical secretary, a typist and an utter fantasist.
Not to single out Bazza but this perfectly highlights one of the biggest problems with this election. Facts are being overridden with ridiculous accusations which don't stop even when they've been clearly shown to be false. If true I feel even more justified in my original response...suggesting something else was at work
Was it flu? Just asking, because on 5Live just now they said pneumonia rather than flu. Was it suspected pneumonia at first? If true I feel even more justified in my original response...suggesting something else was at work

Either way she’s still bullshitting as has well and truly been exposed. She could be Florence Nightingale, it’s still bollocks. Not checked anything myself but it is entirely possible that she IS a qualified nurse. One who has taken a more administrative role due to personal circumstance such as unsociable hours or whatever

This is part of Labour's problem. They want everyone to brush their own leadership team's actions, comments & beliefs under the carpet...but to remember every negative about the other parties.I didn't say the man was racist-though I can't rule it out entirely. I said he has made racist comments. How has the response to his comments about Muslims compared to 0.1% of the Labour Party facing anti-Semitism complaints? Bashing Muslims is still fair game in this country.
It is almost exactly the same shape as a letterbox, hence the analogy.Sure buddy. Not calling Muslim women letterboxes is basically a blasphemy law. Gotcha.

She was probably inundated with abuse whether or not her account was true...so cut & ran.No it's real and it happened. Thats Tory fake news like the 'punch' trying to smear it.
In fact....

Maybe they couldn't get a GP appointment. These days its not just a case of phoning up and getting a same day appointment. And separately, I have to question why people go to A&E with flu symptoms? Is it that their GP had advised them to? Or advised them what to do, but as worried parents they wanted more convincing or instant (unrealistic) results?

From experience, if you follow the advice and call the out of hours/non emergency NHS line (or whatever it is called), they will advise you to go to A&E with a child of that age. The same with an elderly relative.Maybe they couldn't get a GP appointment. These days its not just a case of phoning up and getting a same day appointment.
My GP allows you to book online so I've just checked, at a surgery with 7 GPs based across 2 sites there are 2 appointments available for the rest of the year, both next Tuesday.
What would you do if you were a parent with a sick child and you couldn't get in to see a GP, just keep the kid at home and hope for the best? At what point is it acceptable to seek treatment?
It is almost exactly the same shape as a letterbox, hence the analogy.
I wear a balaclava when I go winter cycling (it has holes where the eyes and mouth go) . I look a bit like a terrorist, usually the IRA I've been told. Shock, horror. How outrageous.
Big difference between referring to clothing as resembling one thing and referring to a group of people as literally something else.

Evident on QT last night reminding Swinson of a list of stuff like student fees etc. where she has history of saying one thing & doing another.
JC would prefer no Trident (because he would rather surrender or send us all to oblivion than press the button), no armed forces (or at least something akin to the home guard rather than one to protect UK interests around the globe), let the unions dictate the course of the economy, & much more besides

I’m equally sure then you will be happy to challenge those that throw anti-semitism around when people criticise the Israel government and the apartheid regime they are trying to instil. Being critical of a government that is actively trying to exterminate a group of people is not being racist.
Nah just love winding up people on this thread
Yes, it was suspected pneumonia. He was later diagnosed with flu I believe, but at the time he was sleeping on the floor he hadn't been fully diagnosed and triage team thought it was pneumonia. Was it flu? Just asking, because on 5Live just now they said pneumonia rather than flu. Was it suspected pneumonia at first?
