Is that Alain-Patrick d’Oh, the up-and-coming feature writer from Le Figaro? Quite a coup for the Telegraph.D'oh!
There's an irony in that picture

You’ve never looked evil in the eye until you’ve met Tony Hayres. The irony being that Alan was meeting the BBC Chief Commissioning Editor Tony Hayres

LR pro SISU now working at a free paper I use to light my wood burner without reading first.
NS pro SISU no longer an MEP and doing? God knows.
SG anti SISU and going up in the world. He’ll be sitting in Jeremy Vines seat before you know it
What next? My guess is Grendull has to take a job answering phones for we buy any car dot com on the LADA section and Nick ends up working the floor in PC world
All said tongue in cheek before anyone gets their nickers in a twist.
Going to work for CWR ?? That could be interesting isn’t he banned from the Ricoh ?
Good on him, seems a proper step up.My fifth year at the Coventry Telegraph will be my last.
On January 29 I will move to take up a Political Reporter role with the BBC on TV and radio. I will be working for BBC C&W, Midlands Today and Sunday Politics.
Making the move was not an easy decision, but this is an opportunity which is too good to turn down.
I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Telegraph, and I owe the publication / Trinity Mirror a huge amount. The company aided my development and supported me through the wide-ranging and various challenges thrown up during my time as chief reporter – from lawyers' letters to death threats.
I must also thank my editors (past and present) for providing me with the platform to lead the coverage of the Coventry City / Ricoh Arena saga - the biggest (and incredibly time-consuming) political story in the city for many years.
The Coventry Telegraph has an extraordinarily talented and hard-working team. They have produced outstanding results in exceptionally challenging circumstances – and I have no doubt they will continue to do so following my departure.
It's been a pleasure working with many of my current and former colleagues and I wish them all the best for the future.
I'm now looking forward to joining the BBC and embarking on a fresh challenge – although I'll still be covering the Ricoh Arena row... just in a different format!
P.S – Thank you to the scores of you who have sent me kind messages, comments and tweets. They really are appreciated.
I've got a better car than our football club's CEO actually. (assuming the beema he got out of with personalised reg was his).

It's a true story.
Was quite an old 3 series beema I think it was, greyish with BOD in the plate, I bet most people on here will as well as opposed to me rocking an RS7 or anything.
That’s true! Was with Boddy recently and indeed he has an old SIlver BMW 3 Series with a personal number plate. It's a true story.

Had to call it a day mate. Car is that old that the interior light had an electrical fault and was knackered.:emoji_confused:Not much room to dog in the back of one of those though? How did you manage?
Midlands Today I think.Going to work for CWR ?? That could be interesting isn’t he banned from the Ricoh ?
Do you think the Beeb pay less than Mirror group. seriously! :emoji_relaxed:Will he be taking a wage cut for parity?
Seriously well done good luck Simon.
What do you think CD, just trying to be Topical. B-)Do you think the Beeb pay less than Mirror group. seriously! :emoji_relaxed:

How many people have the CT got left based in Cov? Think a lot of it is done from Fort Dunlop these days.
Well... if I had the choice I'd rather work for the Beeb than the Mirror, even if they didn't pay me more!(why else would he move?)
Depends on gender or ear size so I'm told. :emoji_blush:What do you think CD, just trying to be Topical. B-)
Why not get journalism interns? They could be unpaid (or very minimal pay) just to get the experience. It does make you wonder whether the CT will have any staff soon.
<snip>
There's just no money in local news to pay actual journalists to do actual reporting, which is a shame as there's a lot going on. <snip>
