Thorn will have to prepare something like this every week to bail us out of the shit!

If anyone's watched a Superbowl winner be interviewed and see the amount of thanks He gets, I don't think God's really into our traditional version of football.

If we ever need our special teams to make a clutch field goal with 00:05 on the clock in the fourth though, he's the go-to deity.

As far as team spirit and style go we're looking good. The problem we're going to have, and also had under Coleman and Boothroyd, is that our squad is wafer thin on quality and yet again we will get punished any time injuries kick in (queue Eastwood injury - christ).

If we're lucky and can field our strongest team I think we can pull off a few surprises. But we're Coventry City, so yes, god help us.

I think in this case a single omnipitent imaginary deity is insufficient. Lets invent some more powerful super-football-hero-gods, they will save us, have faith. :D

I think we need to somehow animate the Jimmy Hill statue. He'll be a bit like one of those Japanese B-movie monsters, only more bronze, and he will play up front. We will worship him and he will smite our foes.

Alternatively, we could try signing 3-4 quality players pronto. :thinking about:

Good morning Torch!
Its not like you to be stuck for words, or unduly pessimistic, were they really that bad?
It would appear that our latest four year plan is to commit slow, and humiliating suicide, rather than taking the club to higher planes,we are in fact witnessing our own funeral procession, whilst our owners are reluctant to invest in the medication, needed to save us from certain death.

I think you're probably right, its going to need divine intervention to save us, but rumour has it that "God" was spotted in the directors Box at Stamford Bridge recently, so that rules us out.
any way, its nice to Know that you're up and kicking torch, it would make my day if Fred put in an appearance too, I would love to hear from him.
warm regards......Tankie

Without signing 3 or 4 new players we are going down, we need to cover injured players

I am not looking forward to this season ! In 35 yrs of supporting the city 1st time I have felt like this . We will go down this year , gates will be really low , squad not big enough or good enough .
The only hope I have is that someone comes in ( Hoffman ) and takes over and spends money on team in January transfer window to keep us in this division .
Please just go Sisu before it is too late !

I would love to hear KD sugar coat and spin his way out of this one,,, in fact im hoping he spins himself up his own arsehole and takes Sisu with him.... We are going to find it a very frustrating season unless sisu give up and let someone else try to run the club in the correct manner instead of running it into the ground....

Come on lads this what we as Cov fans do best, being the underdog...........we have years of practice of this......no-one was better than us for staying up against the odds in the top league.

I maintain that part of the reason for this was us as fans, as towards then end of the season we'd still all be right behind the team, whereas some of the clubs we were in competition with would be having a go at their team for being down the bottom.

Those of us who started going to watch in the top flight for years have it ingrained in us that when we get to the ground that we're not favourites to win that day, which then makes winning all the better.

This first match of the season has me back in the old mentality straight away, it reminds me of when in the late 90's we played Chelsea at home first game of the season and they had just signed half the french world cup winning team...........and we still did them.

So come on everyone remember that old underdog mentality at lets do some giant killing.

P.S. if we could however sign 2 midfields and a forward it would be much appreciated!

really wish I could share that feeling...

You look back and see Huckerby, Dublin, Whelan, John, Best, Mifsud, Adebola, King, Morrison etc..... yes, we were the underdog, but "on their day" we had players that could do something..

With the absolute greatest respect to the current squad, if Juke doesnt make saturday, we will start against Leicester with O'Donovan and Wilson up front..

Poor AT, thrown into the pit...
