Anyone go?
I was there Saturday and Sunday and it seemed really quiet this year. Appreciate there were mitigating factors such as the football and the weather but numbers seemed really down.

Nothing in the line up made me want to go this year.

Last 2 years I've taken the whole family up on the Friday.

Just thought it was particularly bland this year.

True, but I believe numbers were down Friday as well though I wasn't there.

Time to knock it on the head I feel

Overrun with the road man brigade, was reading about stampedes over kids and all sorts

For a council that is so skint I don't even think it makes money does it?

Had its heyday and been shit since about 2017

Sorry, but the overrun with the roadman brigade comment is bollocks.
Yes, there was an incident, but I've occasionally seen stuff like that happening since it started.
It's not good, but up until the didn't se a hint of trouble.

To knock something that's beens successful on the head is crazy talk to be honest. The more big events in the city the better, but I think there definitely needs to be a good luck at how this year's event went.

Good things are often taken for granted
I’m sure it does cost money we don’t have but it does put Coventry on the map

I went Friday and saw Richard Ashcroft who was great. Best value gig I've been too in a long time.

Did the crowd seem smaller than usual, ( I appreciate it pissed it down).

If you enjoy being surrounded by little twats with manbags pissed out their heads and sniffed up constantly 'sick ting bro' then enjoy, but there are a lot of Coventrians who don't bother anymore because it's a cesspit of some of the worst this city has to offer on the Saturday

Granted the Friday and Sunday eves seem alright from past experience

Went on Saturday for a few hours to get my 14 year old in. Enjoyed Wes Nelson (didn’t expect to) and Lasy Leshur (did expect to) and a few random bands I don’t know the name of.

Best of all after Taylor Swift and then this my 14 year old has declared her love of live music so now looking for other stuff I can take her to this summer.

But it was nothing like that. There was one incident, towards the end of the night, with a relatively small amount of little twats. There were far worse incidents years ago.
And the crowds have been big up until this year, Im just trying to work out if there was more to that than the football and the weather.

And yesterday, as is usual with the Sunday, was a great family day out, but still seemed a bit quieter than usual.

I haven’t been for years but when did they move everything including the fair behind the barriers? That seemed to stop a lot of people without a ticket from showing up. Did feel very empty.

Been barriers fur a few years but not sure when they put the fair in there.
We actually went to the fair yesterday which we haven't done for absolutely years.
12 year olds paying a fiver for a fair ride using apple pay on their phones was a new one on me.

Last time I went it was just the main stuff behind the barriers and the family zone and fair were free to access. There seemed to be no one there on Saturday who hadn’t bought a ticket so I imagine the numbers are well down in the park as a whole.

I don't know who books the acts now but they want to have a rethink, less Saturday evening TV and more later with Jools, only Ashcroft on Friday held any appeal to me and that wasn't enough to make me go, hope they change direction as I used to really look forward to the weekend.

There were big queues to get in around 8-8.30pm when we got there so I imagine it was quite quiet before that.

The crowd for Richard Ashcroft was decent, maybe a bit smaller than usual but the weather was awful too.

I don't get why they didn't put the football on if they had such a lovely big telly there

Problem is the biggest crowds etc are when they booked people like example etc so they have gone too far down that route

Had tickets for Friday to see Richard Ashcroft but didn't bother because of the weather, and the line up for the other days didn't really interest me.
Hope the line up is better next year, as it's a great little festival to have locally

I still remember the final year before they fenced it up and started charging to get in, and there were riot police at about 7pm on the Saturday

I remember going in 2000 and they had the Drum & Bass tent.... could just walk in with a pack of SuperT and go where you wanted. Some of those earlier years were like the wild west.

The only memory i have of the first year was two middle aged women rolling around fighting in the mud as one had apparently stolen the others ‘staffie’. The dog was just stood watching them.
thankfully the ticket prices now prevent some (but not all sadly) of ‘covs finest’ attending now.

I remember (I think it was about 2009) when I lived 2 minutes away in stivichall. Couple of us tipping my mate over in one of the portaloos they had just by the entrance on leamington road and dragging him halfway home trapped in it. Beautiful times. £2 a bev as well I think.

To be fair, that’s a big call. They can’t be having a rethink based on what music Jonnythespider off the internet likes.

It's not just Johnnythespider though is it.

He probably has a mate that feels exactly the same way.

They definitely shouldn't rethink on what I like, it would be all over the place, just my response to why numbers appear to be down. It could just as easily have been the weather that kept people away.
