By the way there were no injuries today horses or riders. It shows safety has improved.
Are you saying that they don't enjoy racing?
And if you are so against it what do you think of meat eating people? Do you see it as OK to breed animals to eat them? We don't need to.
You clearly have zero understanding of a horses mentality. Horses are herd animals. The notion that horses "enjoy" racing is a yarn spun by the industry to the gullible and the ignorant. You mentioned horses carry in when riderless and run the course. Total ignorance. Horses are pack animals and are frightened if on their own so they chase after the others.
If horses are grazing in a field and are startled by a noise they converge together and run. If horses enjoy it so much why don't they permenantly jump fences in fields they are kept in?
As for the football comparison its stupid as footballers clearly don't have someone on their back controlling them.
One thing you could answer though - if there was 1.089 jockeys died since 2007 would we still have horse racing do you think?

Which is what I said. Are you happy to eat meat where animals are not allowed to reach proper maturity but unhappy about horse racing where the vast majority of their horses are well looked after? The vast majority of horses used for meat are private horses mistreated. Maybe injured. If you are a veggie I can understand. Otherwise you just contradict what you are saying.

Agreed. (And, yes, I am vegetarian, so hate me...).
Mick Quinn was fined and banned from being a trainer after mistreating his horses iirc (to try and get this thread Cov related...).
Same as any animal I guess, you have good owners and bad owners.
Not really. A few say horse racing should be banned as some die doing what they love. Some footballers die doing what they love. Maybe not as many but it happens.
More people die in road accidents than horses die racing. Shall we try to ban cars next?
Driving similarly doesn't apply surely. I mean I could stop driving tomorrow if I wanted, but I can't see how yesterday's winner can request retirement.
I'm fine with horse racing, but it doesn't really have an equivalent in much humans do as we have free will that animals don't.

That all depends on what country you live in though. And all down to religious beliefs a lot of the time. A 9 month old baby has been arrested in Pakistan a couple of days ago. He is accused of planning a murder, threatening police and interfering with state affairs.

Bit like Hartlepool hanging a monkey for espionage
It wasn't a monkey. It was a Sunderland resident. They have not evolved as much as the rest of us.

Sanctimonious pricks out in force on this thread I see. Are you vegans too or just plain old hypocrites (since you have to be one or the other). Were it not for racing the horses wouldn't even be bred, just like the meat on your plate. Get over yourselves and have a punt!
This is a deterministic behaviour fallacy based on religious belief/upbringing/inculcation or ignorance. All animals have a degree of free will or choice. The difference in choice ('free will') between the lower animals and the higher animals (such as humans) is one of degree. The extent of the considerable and very full human behaviour directed through / by the genes tends to be much under-appreciated by society at large (though is very much appreciated in the scientific community).
This will prove great solace for the horses who can read.
