Ah, well. I don't think he really had any desire to sign for us, regardless of what was offered. Good luck to him: we'll see how Mr Deegan gets on in his stead, I guess.

I know we want to keep hold of our best players but I am the only one annoyed that we didn't cash in on these players before there contracts expired. This summer about 7-10 million pounds worth of players have left for about 500k all together.

So what reception do we give Gunnarsson when he returns with Cardiff?

Correct me if i'm wrong but I'm sure I recall that when he first joined came to this club, he said something on the lines of that he will play premiership in 3 years.

Although he hasn't played that well this season or last, I sad to see him go.
And would go as far to say I'm a bit gutted to see him playing for another championship team now.

I really think he would have had a good season with us this year now with Thorn in charge because he would have played him in his right position and not made him just fill in here or there.

His Missus seems quite happy with his decision on Twitter. They only got back from Dubai today, so makes you wonder whether this is another player we missed out on re-signing because of an email not being recieved while on holiday?? I await the report in the CET

He won't be missed especially if Deegan comes back, a player who is a better tackler and passer than Gunnarsson, he's already scored a third of Gunnarsson's goals less than a seventh of the time. That's maths for you

To be honest i'm glad that's it all sorted now. I keep upto date with how it's going in Portugal and AT seems to have them all well boosted and having a good time - his man-management seems spot-on, knows when to have a laugh etc..., if the interest from Saints dies off and we keep Juke , get another one in alongside him - I think we'll be raring to go.

Didn't we sign him for around £250k? The fee is considered a training or developmental fee, and considering he's now relatively experienced both at Championship and international level since joining us, logically it has to be more.

And you base this on what? 3 games? Brilliant we are replacing an experienced good championship midfielder with an Irish crock from Bohemians.
When ever I have seen Deegan play he has seemed to lack a bit technically but gets himself forward into the opponents box often.
The only saving grace for me is we have Thorn in charge. If he wasn't in charge I would nail us on for relegation tbh. We need this takeover to happen and hopefully pump some cash into the team.

So you say yourself that you trust thorn.. well thorn certainly thinks that deegan is up for it.. seeing as he was the guy who scouted him in the first place. Give him time to play before judging him.

Promising player gone but I worried about his temprament and how easily outside factors affect his onfield performance. It may have been partly his age, but I think tooo many things have to come right if he was ever really going to make it to the next level. Therefore not massively disappointed that he's gone, but disappointed that we were unable to persuade him to stay if we genuinely wanted him.

I'm not just saying this because he has gone but he wont be missed at all.Some say he's a defensive midfielder,well i disagree 100% with this,a defensive (holding midfielder) sits in the middle of the pitch cutting out and intercepting play,gets the ball and gives it easy to keep play ticking over.On the rare occasion Gunnarsson played there he'd run around at 100mph and continously empty the midfield,and when he got the ball would most of the time be wasteful.Sammy makes it look so easy,always has time and space,alot of people think a defensive midfielder has to run around non-stop and continously tackle,when realy they should do the opposite.
On the other hand going forward he has offered very little,to be fair he looked at his best on the right under Aidy Boothroyd,best of look to him but i dont think he will be missed to much.

I think he needed to move on for a fresh challenge especially when everything surrounding us is so uncertain. I have no ill feelings towards him at least we get a few quid to throw at the 1/2million monthly losses.

The hyped up midfielder has gone, we can now focus, Andy Thorn has the squad focused and under control, pre season friendlys are about to start, everything apart from Jukebox partner is sorted. We are a team with undoubted support, We are not interbred, season ticket sales are incredible, the futures bright, the futures sky blue.

Well there is a difference between an anchor man and a ball winning/defensive midfielder. Clingan plays like an anchor man rarely leaves his position and sits intercepts and starts of attacks from his own half, similar to busquets. Gunnarasson has high energy levels, likes to get up and down the pitch and chase the ball. Similar to a Essien, Parker, Fletcher. It all depends on how you want to play the game. I wouldn't describe Gunnarsson as a DM, he is a box to box midfielder.
