This is why I hate loaning in players, you’ve just spent a million quid to have the same options as last season, now you need to sign another player to improve on last seasons squad. Suppose you know what you’re getting so it’s not as risky as just spending £1M blind, but you’ve not really improved on last season, but then again had he not signed permanently you’d be weaker than last season. And if he’d have been your best player, someone else would have taken him and you’d have been royally fucked like us with Dike. Loan system as it’s pros and cons, but clubs like ours are better off staying clear of it if they can, or using it very minimal, for the long term good of the club.
I understand what you're saying but I think when a club is working on a small budget like Coventry are, it can work well. Since we've signed Sheaf and now potentially Gyokeres, we're effectively at status quo. If you look at the second half of the season once the players had settled that isn't too bad.
We've brought in Waghorn and Moore which has improved both departments. Not forgetting for majority of last season, our strike force was made up of a half fit Godden / Walker, Bakayoko & Biamou. Once Gyokeres settled he looked a very decent option. If we can keep at least 2/4 fit for most of the season, it'll be night and day from last year.
If we can now buy a first choice CB or LB (both would be incredible). Then hit the loan market again, bringing in some PL youngsters. The squad would have improved considerably and I'd be very happy. Do the same again next year.
Summing up last season ,Boddy remarked he thought we had to many key players as loans and he wanted to own key players and it looks like robins is trying to make that happen.

If I'm allowed to include Cup goals then in 2013/14 - Wilson 22, Clarke 18, Moussa 14, Baker 10 (21, 15, 12, 7 otherwise). In all we scored 84 goals (74 in League 1) yet finished 18th. Remarkable.

Yes. We started with a 10-point deduction and would have finished 9th otherwise, still 13 points outside the play-offs. Only 3 teams scored more goals than us.
had a near-miss with Matty James, but this guy is hopeless. why release max biamou. He will be lucky to make 10 appearances forget any goals. Same old, sign players on the cheap and release good players to reduce the wage bill, is what got Coventry relegated to League 2
