We will say maybe thenMeh. My biggest concern is adding to our difficulties this season. Daft to say no, daft to say yes.
Nobody wants him gone btw , I just don't know if we can say no to that money
Our highest EVER fee for a player received and in the second tier too
You’re right, I’ve been pretty consistent on this issue, which apparently can’t be said of every poster. You are a broken record
No one says he wants to. Maddison didn’t want to go to Norwich
I don’t want to say no to such a fee either. But I’m unconvinced that at this point in the window and still 5 wins from assured safety that the squad without him is up to the task.
That is unless a replacement has already been found and is willing to sign immediately.
If we win today can you honestly see us going down? Wigan have flat lined Cardiff dropping every week and Huddersfield and Blackpool not a lot better
What if we lose and a £20 million offer comes in the next day?
We will say maybe then
Clearly more concerning but the reality is we’d still probably take the money
we’ve had o hare and Jones in the relative recent past as well who were looking to be moved on and then ended up injured with zero value. Even then there are 3 other teams in obvious turmoil
Another bump on a totally dumb philosophy- it’s pretty clear without Gyokeres we are dead certs for the drop. We have to retain him even if it means the end of his contract. Without him I see zero hope of survival
I'd argue Palace is a better fitInteresting
Crystal Palace: Gyokeres would be better than Semenyo
Crystal Palace look set to miss out on Antoine Semenyo this month but Patrick Vieira's side could land an upgrade in Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres.www.footballfancast.com
You have been up to this point consistent in saying what you think the consequences of selling him or him being otherwise absent would be. Now you’ve changed tack.
Relegation has its own costs too.
That was 19 games ago. So you’re saying our situation has completely changed since then? We have 19 games left to play btw.Oh when did i say that?
Im not changing tack - We have a new owner and you have to assume legitimacy - also as I’ve said it’s a comment on a transfer fee which exceeds what his real value would be

You already know the answer. I assume you think our form for the rest of the season would be even worse if Gyokeres was sold? What position were we in then?

Yeah I don't want to big up today too much, but win today and we've a nice cushion. Lose, of course, and it's a different story, but Robins has shown himself pragmatic enough to be able to grind out results with dross anyway. May not be pretty but, he may not be adaptable during games, but has shown he can be according to circumstance in the season.I don’t think to be fair many are suggesting it - it’s just a hypothetical discussion that a desperate club with a new manager and money from a transfer would pay significantly more than we’d get in the summer (when it seems certain he will go)
I suppose I’m fairly confident of winning today which would put the club 13th with 18 games left and 4 teams who cannot seem to buy a win
This is an interesting conundrum
The poster who has been arguing that selling Gyo would lead to a slog against if not actual relegation-but now thinks we’d be fine anyway. Against the poster who has been saying he should be sold since last summer but now is raising question marks over the sale.
It’s like Alien vs Predator
Its more like looking at the weather forecast and realising the rains stopped even though the Met office saying it hasn’t - and again it’s the hypothetical benefit of an above market value that’s being discussed
You used to be on about the footballing impact-even up to this month. The ownership aspect concerns finances.
5 more wins to get what should be enough to stay up. Do we get that with whoever’s left following a Gyo sale?
I can see Everton offering £15-16million plus Simms as part of the deal on top.
That might suit all parties (if Simms wants to come).
I reckon vik would do so much work to create the space for DCL in a 442 .. they'd compliment eachother so well .So much work to do at Everton. I cant see Dyche taking a punt on Gyokeres as their get out of jail card? He still has too many rough edges. We have seen for ourselves a couple of centre backs in the Championship have kept him quiet.
His potential is immense. I suspect Brighton will be due a substantial per centage of any fee? But I think 20m or more would be too much for us to say no to.

I personally think vik would do well in the premier league
And the above is another issue, it’s been said Brighton have a percentage in any fee, don’t know if it’s true and if it is how much talk of £15/20million being acceptable today is fine but that could reduce significantly. Brighton are one of the most savvy clubs in the country when it comes to buying and selling players we might be surprised how much percentage they own remember at the time who our owner was and what little budget Robins had to work on.So much work to do at Everton.
