Doesn’t he tend to play further up the pitch?Clarke from Sunderland would be my choice of an extra midfielder. He is carrying their side. Think it is 11 goals so far with not a lot of help from others. They don't even have a proper striker. Can you imagine a player like him with O'Hare, Sakamoto and Wright? Sides wouldn't be able to put a few players on him or it would give our other players space.
He'd also attract interest from low end prem clubs or parachute clubs with significantly more money. It's unrealistic.Doesn’t he tend to play further up the pitch?
There will be players with these box to box type attributes in decent European leagues who won’t cost extortionate sums. That chap in Serie B being oneHe'd also attract interest from low end prem clubs or parachute clubs with significantly more money. It's unrealistic.

Similar to Hamer in ways. Good in the tackle. Can run past players as we saw the other day. Scores goals all over. But is ending up higher up the pitch as he is their only serious goal threat. Even then he starts a lot of his runs from inside his own half.Doesn’t he tend to play further up the pitch?
Clearly a good player but out of our price range I think.Similar to Hamer in ways. Good in the tackle. Can run past players as we saw the other day. Scores goals all over. Scored the only goal last night against Hull. Where would we be now with a midfielder on 11 goals?
Why are we blaming our midfielders for not scoring 11 goals but are delighted with a striker who's scored two and who someone yesterday said they would play ahead of anyone in the squad? And another striker who hardly touched the ball yesterday.Similar to Hamer in ways. Good in the tackle. Can run past players as we saw the other day. Scores goals all over. Yet he is still at Sunderland. He'd also attract interest from low end prem clubs or parachute clubs with significantly more money. It's unrealistic.

Pretty short termist approach that, and an expensive one. That being said I did name such a player a couple of pages back.Yet he is still at Sunderland.
Wouldn't be cheap but name a Hamer replacement that would be cheap. You either go for a known quality where you have to pay the price or you go for an unknown quality like Sakamoto and hope it works out. But if we're looking at strengthening for a push this season it would be best to go for a player with Championship experience. No time to get used to the speed of the Championship.
As in Jack Clarke? Hes a wingerSimilar to Hamer in ways. Good in the tackle. Can run past players as we saw the other day. Scores goals all over. But is ending up higher up the pitch as he is their only serious goal threat. Even then he starts a lot of his runs from inside his own half.

That's the thing. As I said IF we want a midfielder this season to fit straight into the team it will cost. And with a player like Clarke he would also be for the future.Pretty short termist approach that, and an expensive one. That being said I did name such a player a couple of pages back.
Well we very clearly need a central midfielder in January, I just don’t see Clarke as the man. That's the thing. As I said IF we want a midfielder this season to fit straight into the team it will cost. And with a player like Clarke he would also be for the future.
Otherwise we wait until the end of the season and look for the bargains. Then you have time for them to get up to speed.

Who is playing in the middle most of the time and very well at that. How much time did he spend on the wing against us?As in Jack Clarke? Hes a winger
Gianluca Busio. American international currently at Venezia, still just 21.Who did you suggest?
Obefami I think.Who did you suggest?
He was cutting in off the left wing all game? either way he plays nothing like HamerWho is playing in the middle most of the time and very well at that. How much time did he spend on the wing against us?
Wright is a striker but he is playing more on the wing.
Gyokeres of 3 years ago would be similar to what Wright is now. Or perhaps more naive than Wright is? I think Wright is improving every game. Goals will come but he’s doing a lot of work on the pitch. He’s definitely a team player as is Simms. Simms will get better as well.I’d say Wright is clearly worth the fee. £7m is not that big a fee in the context of football overall. Is he a third of the player Gyokeres is - easily.
20m? Even their own supporters don't think as high and they always overvalue their players.Clarke is a winger and completely unrealistic, he’d cost close to £20m and is wanted by likes of Brentford and Burnley.
So he doesn't go past players? He doesn't score goals? He doesn't have a good passing ability? He doesn't run the length of the pitch with the ball? Not correct. He was cutting in off the left wing all game? either way he plays nothing like Hamer
Clarke isn’t going to come to us - even if we could afford the fee which would be minimum of 15m (they paid £10m I think) his wages would be over what we could afford considering prem sides want him20m? Even their own supporters don't think as high and they always overvalue their players.
They turned down 10m and sold Stewart. But they still didn't buy a striker. They are expecting more player sales. But they have nearly run out of players of any value that clubs are happy to pay. They still have big financial problems. Their manager doesn't even get to choose the players that come or go.
The question was who would improve our midfield. It wasn't who you know we could get cheaply and will come to us.Clarke isn’t going to come to us - even if we could afford the fee which would be minimum of 15m (they paid £10m I think) his wages would be over what we could afford considering prem sides want him

My point about how he could be within our range is those running their club. If the past is anythig to go by they will sell another player soon. And they are running out of players good enough to get a decent amount for. Maybe add Godden as a make weight as they don't have any strikers.
Most probably pie in the sky. Just like the majority of those named.
Defender? Striker? GK?Clarke isn’t even a midfielder
On that basis Bernardo Silva would improve our midfield - there’s about as much chance of having Clarke in our rangeThe question was who would improve our midfield. It wasn't who you know we could get cheaply and will come to us.

Clarke isn't remotely like HamerSo he doesn't go past players? He doesn't score goals? He doesn't have a good passing ability? He doesn't run the length of the pitch with the ball? Not correct.
You won't find another Hamer easily. If you do he would certainly be out of our price range. The Hamer we bought wasn't the same Hamer we sold. He went from an absolute liability to an absolute beast. We don't need another Hamer to progress. What we do need is another scoring midfielder that can rip a defence apart. He won't come cheap either.
Should we just lower our expectations?
What player is just like Hamer?Clarke isn't remotely like Hamer

Bringing in a good enough player at a good price mid season will be difficult.Player exchange deals are tricky to negotiate
Defender? Striker? GK?
I was going to say, him and Hamer are two totally different playersAs in Jack Clarke? Hes a winger
What player is just like Hamer?
He has a good passing range. He goes past several players on a run. He scores plenty of goals. Similar to Hamer in these ways. And he would improve us which is what the question was.
