A night at the casino where you spend very little and win very little is much better than one where you win very little and spend a fortune.Do you remember last close season where all we did was buy Palmer and nearly sell O’Hare, then actually sell Hyam?
This guy seems pretty good
Which means we've had multiple players who we didn't/aren't getting the best out of.
The standard of defending and space in those videos looks terrible at times. You don't get the same space and time in the championship. I'd say defenders are quicker and stronger too. The standard in the championship is better than Denmark.
Every time I find a new video of Haji, I just think we have found the new Gyökeres.
Are defenders in the Championship just too good or has he just lost all power and pace?
Or highlights videos are totally meaningless in terms of overall ability

He’d do well in Scotland because the standard’s bloody awful.Absolutely, but multiple clubs scouting a player isn't.
Rangers supposedly had a £7m bid rejected...
If they were expected to play in our system which apparently isn't suited then Robbins, the scouts, whoever, need to put their hands up and say they fucked up getting in people who can't adapt. So how about to keep everyone happy and show patience and nurturing, perhaps we need to try and change the system and play them both to their apparent strengths for a few games. They come good, Robins is a man manger mastermind and they will propel us to glory. They still look out of their depth, well its the Walker and Waghorn wheel of misfortune for us again ... just lot more expensive. Will come good when Robins decides to mold a formation about £20m worth of players rather than shoehorning them into a style play suited for two players.
I think this video makes a mockery of the typical “He knows where the goal is” argument that gets trotted out when people are bigging up strikers they’ve never seen play at a decent level before

Wright has lost all confidence and I think the same goes for Simms to an extent. Every time I think they will turn a corner (after Blavkburn for Wright and after QPR for Simms) and come good, I am sadly mistaken. Maybe Simms is trying harder (I’ll give him that) but there’s still something missing. They just huff and puff and go through the motions, but there is no next gear they can go to. Vik and Hamer could individually win you games and would elevate the rest of the players. We had 2 talismans and now have none. We just lack that creative spark at the moment and don’t seem to know what to do to engineer a win. When we do string a few passes together and come close to the goal we don’t have anyone to finish it off (like yesterday). Then we all retreat into a shell. What kills me is time and time again watch the players work their way two thirds of way up the field only to pass it all the way back and start over. There’s no incisiveness and cohesion to our moves. A quarter of the way into the season and we still haven’t figured it out. Look at Middlesboro - how have they turned it around? The standard of defending and space in those videos looks terrible at times. You don't get the same space and time in the championship. I really don’t think Simms is trying harder than Wright. In fact I woukd say the opposite.Wright has lost all confidence and I think the same goes for Simms to an extent. It unquestionably is an astronomical amount for a team as cash-poor as we are. The kind of money we had available in the summer is not going to come our way again for a long time, it needed to be spent wisely. It’s fair to expect a return from someone as expensive and as well-paid as Wright is.Can everyone please stop obsessing about the fee paid for Haji? You’re hanging it round his neck like an albatross FFS.
If he’d cost 1.5m or 2m there’d be a lot of comments on here about him being potentially exciting and a good bit of business that brings something different to the squad. Based on what we’ve seen so far, the £7m does look like a big gamble, but in today’s football it’s not an astronomical amount.

I think he’s a good player who doesn’t deserve some of the outrageous comments. He can be electric at times and he’ll score goals, just not in the numbers that Vik delivered (he only cost a third of Vik’s fee if you look at it like that).
Taking the summer transfers as a whole, I for one am pleased with the way the squad’s being developed. People like Latibaudiere, Sakamoto and Van Ewijk are great buys, and I believe Simms will be too. I didn’t expect to be at the top of the table, because having sold two great players for big money the challenge was to bring in about 8 or 10 to fill out the whole squad. That’s not easy, and we haven’t finished yet.
Or a boxerNo I’d have the same worries at £1m to be honest. He just doesn’t look like a footballer
Or a boxer
I enjoyed that show! Aren't vampires scared of crosses?
Perhaps it's to do with the 25 grand a week we're paying him.....
Stop letting facts get in the way of a good dog pile17k apparently
You said Jamie Allen "wasn't very good at football" last season though. No I’d have the same worries at £1m to be honest. He just doesn’t look like a footballer

Think this is it. We seem to have changed playing style to something more ‘attractive’ but not thought about whether that works for the players at our disposal. Countless times we slow-play it so much to the edge of the opposition box that it’d take a miracle pass for Simms/Godden/Wright to have a chance.
We’re 13th in terms of ‘Big Chances Created’ but our stats leader with 3 of the 16 is…Gustavo Hamer. Take his out and we drop to 17th. That in itself should be saying the style of play isn’t working. Neither Simms nor Wright are rapid, but they’d be far more effective with space behind the opposition defence to run into. We also need to see midfielders breaking with more intensity to join the attack - as much as I’m not overly keen on Jamie Allen, he’s the only option we have who does this anywhere near consistently.
Could do much worse than just ask Chris Badlan nicely to come back…Something which accentuates how naff the recruitment was over the summer is that he’s by far our best option in AM at present (I’ll exclude Sakamoto as the sample size is far too small to make a judgement).

In the video he controls the ball and actually battles for it on the pitch for us he don't !

Yates and Whittaker combined would have cost much less than Simms + Wright and we probably would have scored more goals and won more games by nowWorth having a look at this seasons transfers, we're easily one of the top 5 spenders in the league.
Swansea paid £2.8m for Yates. We spent more on a centre back we didn't really need.
