So it would be our highest ever wage or not? didn’t say he’s not worth it. Still can’t forget perspective though
What’s sheaf on? 10k a week? Id prefer 3 Ben sheafs in a squad screaming for depth
Anyway, this is all getting incredibly tedious and circular, so let's hope he either signs a new contract or sods off sharpish!
Join the journey... not you Gus, you can fuck off with your 20k a week bollocks.‘Join the journey’ remember Tom
We’ve competed this season. We fell off half way through last season. This season was the lowest points total for the play offs in years. We’ve competed the last two seasons.
I want us to be backed as much as the next guy but honestly I’d prefer this money and his transfer fee to be spread out across multiple promising talents.
The fact is we need to forget the sentimentality and ego and sell him for as much as possible and get 3 or 4 players in the door.
Lack of depth was what stopped us getting promoted this year, let’s crack on
Agree with the above. At the moment Robins priorities are a whole new defence, at least one midfielder and a striker to replace Walker. Vik and Hamer are here for another 12 months why rush to sell them, the transfer window is open until the end of August. Sell Vik or Hamer or both now yes we might be sitting on 20/25 million quid all very nice but all the prices go up for any purchases we might want to do.It maybe of course that Robins and King have discussed all of this and Robins has said he thinks he can thinks he can progress the club more quickly having a larger squad on more modest salaries than he can a smaller squad with 1 or 2 on much much higher salaries.
I’m not saying which view is correct but Robins has just signed a new long term deal at the club when his stock in the football world is at its highest. I doubt therefore he has done so without feeling comfortable with the level of planned investment in the squad and infrastructure, and our approach to dealing with Vik, Hamer, Sheaf etc …
Do you think Ben sheaf is “bang average” then?3 Ben Sheafs? Fuck that, I want 8 Jamie Allen's. Because having a team full of bang average footballers is what every fan wants.
So is everyone else. Football is a basket case. Lose money trying to compete at the level you're at or lose money cos you get relegated. Then rinse and repeat.WE ARE LOSING MONEY
Because otherwise we have no cash for a decent level of players?why rush to sell them
If selling one or both is the plan you buy first, use your brain.Because otherwise we have no cash for a decent level of players?
Jimmy Holmes...If selling one or both is the plan you buy first, use your brain.
Far too much money concentrated in the PL, it's unsustainableSo is everyone else. Football is a basket case. Lose money trying to compete at the level you're at or lose money cos you get relegated. Then rinse and repeat.
Decent player in his day but too old now.Jimmy Holmes...
Doesn’t make him wrong - this model is not workable in the championship - as quoted by Tim Fisher.Far too much money concentrated in the PL, it's unsustainable

Or we could spend an extra £500k on Hamer's wages for a year then get a fair bit more for him with a couple of years still left than if we sold him now when his contract is in it's final year.I prefer to be better by spending cash on the foundations first, to produce multiple Hamers in the future, rather than the spunk and gamble approach.
Now if the owner has the cash to buy a couple more Hamers right now the spread the risk and improve the team then fantastic, bring it on. One Hamer alone doth not a team make.
Quite simple.
Anyway, this is all getting incredibly tedious and circular, so let's hope he either signs a new contract or sods off sharpish!
Or we get less because he gets injured, we don't replace Gyokeres as well aswe'd like or sign a defence to play for his contract, and instead we end up with eight Jamie Allens playing full back, centre back, and centre forward.Or we could spend an extra £500k on Hamer's wages for a year then get a fair bit more for him with a couple of years still left than if we sold him now when his contract is in it's final year.
So for that outlay we get one of the best players in the league for another year maybe giving us another crack at promotion or still make a profit overall if he moves on if we don't.
And what happens if those 3/4 future players get injured? Or turn out not to be as good.Or we get less because he gets injured, we don't replace Gyokeres as well aswe'd like or sign a defence to play for his contract, and instead we end up with eight Jamie Allens playing full back, centre back, and centre forward.
Or we sell one Hamer to buy three or four future Hamers, two of them work out so we have two Hamers instead of one.
Or Hamer could go on to have an injury free season while every single one of the players we bring in gets injured? Why sign anyone because there's a risk they might get injured or just not do well.Or we get less because he gets injured, we don't replace Gyokeres as well aswe'd like or sign a defence to play for his contract, and instead we end up with eight Jamie Allens playing full back, centre back, and centre forward.

Why is it lunacy to suggest the people who signed Hamer can sign another Hamer?Or Hamer could go on to have an injury free season while every single one of the players we bring in gets injured? Why sign anyone because there's a risk they might get injured or just not do well.
And the chance of us spreading out the Hamer cash and bringing in someone of even close to a similar level is extremely small. To think we'd get two is optimism bordering on lunacy.
The risk is spread if you have 3-4.And what happens if those 3/4 future players get injured? Or turn out not to be as good.
you can deal with hypotheticals all the way
Or we could do what we ended up doing when we sold McSheffrey and spread the risk over 3/4 shite players and nearly get relegatedThe risk is spread if you have 3-4.
I mean, I want a good team, not just a good player in a shit team.
He's not tbf, he's great at what he does but you'll do more damage with a Hamer and a Sheaf than 3 Ben Sheafs.Do you think Ben sheaf is “bang average” then?
So you consider a Robins a shite manager who can't judge a player, and isn't able to unearth the likes of Hamer and Gyokeres?Or we could do what we ended up doing when we sold McSheffrey and spread the risk over 3/4 shite players and nearly get relegated
You don't just buy Hamers very often. It's more likely that we would end up with a Waghorn, a Kane, an Allen and a Dacosta. We will never progress that way.Or we get less because he gets injured, we don't replace Gyokeres as well aswe'd like or sign a defence to play for his contract, and instead we end up with eight Jamie Allens playing full back, centre back, and centre forward.

“Over here in the real world”? We play in a division where the wages to turnover ratio is around 125%. If you want to play in the real world, we eventually have to play somewhere else. How does our p&l compare to those other clubs?
It’s great to just stick your fingers in your ears and shout “the club deserves better” but unfortunately over here in the real world you need money to make the world go around
Who of those did we spend £1mil for?You don't just buy Hamers very often. It's more likely that we would end up with a Waghorn, a Kane, an Allen and a Dacosta. We will never progress that way.
It’s not the same people, is it?Why is it lunacy to suggest the people who signed Hamer can sign another Hamer?
The manager and coach are the same, and have the final say. I'd trust their judgement, wouldn't you? It’s not the same people, is it?
Not at all. But for every sheaf, Hamer and Gyokeres there’s been a Jobello, DaCosta, Hilsner, Wakefield, maguire, Kastaneer, Allasani,So you consider a Robins a shite manager who can't judge a player, and isn't able to unearth the likes of Hamer and Gyokeres?
And which of those did we spend money on, and which not?Not at all. But for every sheaf, Hamer and Gyokeres there’s been a Jobello, DaCosta, Hilsner, Wakefield, maguire, Kastaneer, Allasani,
I’m confused - did Robins discover and scout Hamer? The manager and coach are the same, and have the final say. I'd trust their judgement, wouldn't you?
I mean you're right, we don't have Fisher anymore to sign off I guess.
