Rumored Coventry city target Marlon Harewood has joined Chinese club Shenzhen Phoenix.
The 31-year-old striker is out of contract after being released by Blackpool and was weighing up his options.
Skysports.com reported earlier this week that the former West Ham and Aston Villa forward had jetted out to China to hold talks with the club about a possible move.
Harewood had been impressed by the facilities and has now signed a six-month deal, with the option of a further six months.
A number of English clubs had been keen on Harewood, with the likes of Millwall, Reading and Notts County all expressing an interest in signing the former Nottingham Forest man.
But the lure of playing in the Far East proved too great for Harewood, who finished last season on loan at Barnsley.
He could have been one of the ones AT was talking about when he said he'd made offers but they were "out of our reach at the moment". Possibly Earnshaw and Phillips too.
I really don't get the negativity around the potential signing of Harewood, he would be the best striker in our squad if we had signed him and he did score goals in the Premier League last season when he had the chance.
