Has Dovin helped steady things more than we think ? (2 Viewers)

The last two games in goal Dovin in fairness hasn’t had a great deal to do in terms of making saves.

However…. Is it me or has the back line itself looked noticeably more confident with their keeper ? They seem to have more confidence in using him to play from the back and regularly seem to pass back to him when under pressure in comparison to Collins ?

His distribution is extremely slow - I can feel time slowing down when he collects the ball, would have given anything for a quick throw today.
Just posted this on the other thread and whilst I agree with what you're saying, the movement ahead of him was woeful. Similar on throw ins and free kicks.

I don't know that I can attribute the consecutive clean sheets to his presence; they are as Frank alluded to post-match, a team effort.

He does seem a calmer presence between the sticks. Collins had to be dropped and we paid money for this guy. He needs a run of games.
They are a team effort, but when that team doesn't include Collins DaSilva and Binks, it's a lot better

It has to help the defence knowing that at least the basics will be done and every shot on goal isn’t likely to result in a goal.

He has been slow to play it out but I’d assume he’s under instruction to do that, nobody is that slow otherwise!

Dovin has a presence about him and makes good decisions and saves. I think he’ll be a big player for us. He has stabilised things but also Binks and Dasilva coming out helps a lot.

As far as I can remember we’ve always had horrific movement on throw ins! Frustrating at times when your trying to maintain pressure on the opposition

There is an argument there but from my perspective it is 2 clean sheets. 3 shots on target, we would have conceded 1 or 2 goals and potentially lost today with the alternative.

At the moment, if he is doing nothing that helps the offence but keeps clean sheets. It's a massive improvement.

Think the positive of Dovin is his age. Hes got soo much time on his hands to improve and grow.

A real prospect imo but he will need game time and some patience to facilitate it. Expect the odd mistake but he’s had some cracking games (Bristol comes to mind).

Hard to say vs 2 teams that barely attacked at all (no surprise that they are the lowest scorers in the league) but I saw no reason to leave him out in the first place. Should have done better with the QPR goal but other than that, nothing overly concerning & he needs to establish himself if he's to be our long term No.1

You certainly have to , playing 2 poor teams & their lack of attacking intent .
There was /is no confidence playing in front of Collins & hopefully we’ve seen the last of another very poor signing .
Wilson , a fair No 2 ( with a current knee injury ) but we need better to get to where we all want to go .

Night and Day let's be honest

Dovin is going to be a splendid keeper, a much better option than the 2 donkeys

I don’t get why people on here think Wilson is amazing. He is a bubbly jokey character and I’m sure a fun person to be around but as a keeper he’s wobbly.

Looking forward to Dovin taking this opportunity to make the position his own

The problem all through is there’s nothing obvious on when they receive the ball. We’re so static.
