Thats not true - that is replacing/moving the u18 pitch that we are already paying for and have an agreement/contract in place with CSF for the next 12 months. This is pretty much standard practice given they will be building on the existing pitch rendering it unusable. This is nothing to do with post July 2017.

I think the Academy has more than financial benefits, it is the community and aspirational side of things that sways me towards keeping it. Hard cash it is impossible to tell what it actually costs and certainly there might well be other ways of doing things.

Lets look at the problems
1) agreement ends 30-06-17 nothing in place to replace - solution negotiate a new deal, but it is not going to be the same deal

2) the facilities available to 100% meet EPPP rules might not still be at AHC (if they ever were)- solution change the set up to more than one site, will require organisation, and working in partnership with a number of parties. We already have an indication that this is something other Academies do and FL will work with it. If a section of the Academy is based at another site it would make sense to have some of the rooms required based along side as appropriate. All sides know full well what is required, best way to progress is to sit and talk, especially CSF/CCFC. It may be that working in partnership CSF can provide other alternatives

3) number of pitches might be lost at AHC - solution use pitches elsewhere. Involving say U18's U21's at Ryton for example might make sense in terms of progression to first team. Why not use an asset they already have, is the first team there on a Saturday or Sunday- unlikely

4) Indoor pitch will be lost - solution whether prime base at AHC or not would be to use the wasps kicking barn. We currently use indoor pitch 12 hours a week on a pre booked basis so the only sticking points could be day time usage, when do we use it now? and price? - the alternative is where? Wasps have offered usage so put them to the test

5) costs - solution sit down a negotiate a deal. Costs are likely to have increased since 2013. There is a thought that for the audit we were perceived to use but reality is never actually never paid for some elements, that may have to change which will put the cost up. Other sites may have other cost structures. But isn't this where only the club can know he cost/benefit ratio. Price negotiations in these situations are not best done by email.

6) Legal clause stops CCFC being there or being there more than 7 years. - That's basically rubbish. The clause stops CCFC buying all or part of the site or having a longer than 7 year lease. That leaves a 7 year lease available but even that isn't necessary because the Academy currently operates under a User Agreement that involves no land/property interest in the site at all. There is nothing in the clause stopping a similar booking agreement of say10 or 15 years

7) CSF/Wasps do not know what is required - CSF certainly do they were part of the audit process in 2013. Do Wasps need to know, all they need to do is match or better usage of an indoor space. Nor will Wasps have responsibility for letting the areas left available to CCFC apart from the Barn

No we wont get the same deal we have now. Yes there are elements of facilities that will need a new way of being provided. But surely there is already enough there that even we know on this site that enables a proper grown up discussion face to face to resolve and maintain the Cat 2 academy. If they want to

There is enough to discuss and start a solution now

Yes, but the new pitch won't disappear after June 2017 will it? It will still be available to rent and CCFC, if they want to use it, need to negotiate, rather than missing meetings.

No, it will become one of the 2 pitches wasps have exclusive and sole use of. So we won't be able to rent it

Yes, other pitch not that one. It says in the planning document that of the 4 remaining pitches wasps will have exclusive and sole access to 2 of them, and exclusive access to a third half of the time, which leaves 1 pitch for public access and another that can be used when wasps arent using it (probably evenings) it doesn't take rocket science to see which of the pitches will be upgraded for us to temporarily use.

But you can rent a pitch anywhere Warwick In have some of the best around the pitches are a minor matter.
There are dozens around Cov alone that are not being used.
Only one problem I can see?
No fuckor will give it to you free.

What's that got to do with my post? Orca was incorrectly saying what wasps have offered. I was point it out. Now if wasps / CSF want to make public exactly what is being offered we would all know what is what.

I've said 5-6 time on this thread that CA should have attended the meeting, so I don't get your point.

I don't think that is the problem. And its not a minor matter, there's a lot of logistics etc that need to be worked through and considered.

It's a one way process.
I have written many times to offer my services FOC to improve the abysmal way disabled are treated in relation to CCFC. Even have a reply after writing a second time asking why they are ignoring me from Jonathan Strange saying he will feed it in. But guess what .... Nothing.

When I have issues obtaining tickets for my disabled friend I contact via answerphone, Twitter or email. In all 3 cases I get that it will be followed up, but guess what ? ...... Nothing.

Coventry City MD wants assurances before meeting over football club Academy's future

Chris Anderson defends decision not to attend meeting about Academy's future at Alan Higgs Centre

City’s Academy is currently category two, which attracts around £500,000 in grant funding, but there are strict requirements including access to pitches and changing rooms.

Mr Anderson says the club have made CSF aware of those requirements and he won’t meet them until they have confirmed those conditions can be met.

He told the Telegraph: “CSF haven’t confirmed to us what we would need in relation to how many pitches, changing rooms and office space, once the contract has run out.

“Once that has been confirmed we will sit down with CSF and discuss the future of our Academy at the Higgs Centre.”

Mr Anderson had previously told the Supporters’ Consultative Group on June 22 that the Academy rules meant there was ‘no negotiation to be had’.

He told the SCG: “There is no negotiation to be had with other parties around a table because the football club doesn’t have a choice to either comply or not comply with those technical requirements, which have been communicated to Coventry Sports Foundation.”

From what he's saying if he were to be supplied with a letter saying we can offer XY&Z but he deemed A was also required then he wouldn't go to the meeting.

As I said yesterday, it's not down to other to do all the leg work - the Sky Blue Trust have got off their arses and arranged the meeting to try and help get things moving in the right direction.

Him refusing to attend is a huge flicking of the Vs to the SBT and all those who believe this meeting was a step in the right direction.

The Academy for the company he represents is facing extinction and he can't even spare the time to meet with the other parties - absolutely unbelievable.

It's only CCFC who will suffer if the academy closes - why can't the board get their head around that?!

Reading CA's response in the telegraph, you would think CSF and Wasps need
Coventry City FC , not the other way round.
On the other hand we only need them if we plan to keep our academy status, and

Like those before him he Wealds no power, if Joy & Tim decide the academy's
gotta go its gotta go, but like dart said earlier they should just come clean and
outline their plans going forward, without the academy.

I agree with that,
Also why is CA saying there's no point getting round a table to discuss plans for the academy
because what we need is set in stone, with no room for compromise from the EFL.
When there quite clearly is.

It wouldn't be spin unless it was vague. Say we can offer x, y & z to the club moving forward from when the current deal ends. Make it very simple and very clear.
