that SISU will be selling us sooner rather than later because they are now in financial trouble. Last week's crash had significance on their dealings and they lost alot of money.

Don't go in for rumours, but this one might have some credence. The financial markets are taking quite a hit.

Thing is though, won't any recession and financial crisis also hit Hoffman's backers too?

Sisu are paper rich, most of their money is tied up in assets, such as businesses, property and stock market investments. We don't know GH investors, but he would have known the markets were looking bad as would his guys, its not been a secret all u needed to do is look at last months financial forcasts, and stuff like that. That stuff don't happen overnight

Complete tosh, these guys buy/invest when crashes occur, because they can get things cheap, then either strip them apart or rebuild and sell at a profit.

Buy low, sell high is the motto

I don't for one min believe this sisu are now skint theory, they just don't want to throw good money after bad towards a half empty stadium

Is anyone saying they are skint? Aren't they merely saying they have taken a bit of a hit?

Investing in markets is always a long term strategy, never a short term one.

Why on earth would they compound their short term losses?

Nonsense.

That is the problem with sites like these. It's full of guys who know everything. If we talk about finances you are all financial whizzkids. If we talk about management you are all in management. FFS there are people who who know more than you guys about stuff youknow nothing about. Reading a fancy paper or going to uni for 3 or 4 years doesn't make you an expert. My source works closely with SISU and they have invested recently in companies that aren't being turned around and are suffering. It's not only about CCFC. They have also invested in the USA and other European markets and have been hit terribly. I'm not asking you to believe me, cause I knowI'm a nobody in this field but you experts don't need to be told anything anyway. I can see you are all successful business people and that is why you come on here.
There is a saying that an opinion is only valid if it does something or creates something. I got this info from better people than you, so I believe them more.

Sometimes the rumours are true and sometimes they turn out to be miles off. Just need to take everything with a pinch of salt!

Am i the only one who is equally as worried about Hoffman taking over? I am yet to be convinced that he is going to inject millions as most fans may think, will we be better off??

For the record, i would prefer the hoff being a city fan and all that but unless someone can come in and buy the ground to create some revenue they will have exactly the same problem.

It may surprise you to know that in the cross-section of society that this forum represents, we do have people who have higher aspirations than getting a staff discount in JB-Sports.

Don't be so quick to brush them aside. Especially when you don't know anything about them as individuals.

This wasn't an attack on you, it was an examination of the validity of what was being said as fact. No need to be so defensive.

Your insistence that you know people 'better than us' leaves a very bad taste in the mouth. I'm not quite sure why you are getting so emotional about our replies.

I assumed that you wanted us to discuss it?

You haven't got a clue about any of us, and just so you know because people have money it doesn't make them 'better people' if anything it's the reverse.

They've also just appointed two financial experts to the board.

Chairman Ken Dulieu said that the two new directors had been brought in for their 'massive financial expertise and contacts to the board.'

One of them is a former investment banker and current chairman of Calimere Point, a group of companies offering financial advisory services.

Coincidence? Let's hope not.

Assuming the people who are buying us trade on markets they could also be in trouble. I heard a rumour they are.....

aside from the fact that it isnt SISU that own us but the investment funds they manage. The drop in the markets as yet has not reached the values of 3 years ago and will affect all investors including GH's backers and others - so will affect anyone elses ability to take over from SISU. Of course SISU have been hit by the downturn in prices and economy so has everyone.

IF GH had this info how is it SISU couldnt get the same? SISU might well be having a tough time but they are not amateur players in the financial markets.

too much tittle tattle and not much by the way of facts around - so personally i only believe things when they happen not because he said she said, whisper whisper

No need to be so judgemental chap ...... if you post a thread the whole point is to get a reaction dont assume because you make the assertion (a) it is right (b) will be believed (c) will not be challenged (d) wont be discussed...... thats the whole purpose of a forum. No need at all to be disparaging about the contribution of others at least some here have been successful in business for many years and may well have a good handle on things. But above all EVERYONE is entitled equally to their opinions .... you me and everyone else ..... without being judged as less than worthy

Anyone can do that. Take a 'part' of a sentence and change it to how you want to hear it. I said that 'better people than you IN THE AREA OF FINANCE. If you want to see it as I think one is better than the other that's up to you but that is not what I meant.
As was said, you can see what will happen in the coming weeks and then you can judge.

I have noticed the level of this site has gone down since the GMK guys descended. lol

so please explain how the full text of what you wrote was not judgemental of folk you know nothing about ?

Bottom line is you had a piece of gossip from someone that is "connected " in business terms with SISU that you shared. None of us including you know if it is true and only time will tell. There is lots of gossip around. Great for sharing it but dont be so thin skinned if people dont believe it - you could be right but you could be wrong or somewhere in the middle. No need to belittle folk. If you are right then I will say well done but ..................

btw finance and understanding accounts is where i make living and well qualified in it

i have to point this out to you guys. Hoffman the god like figure now supposedly our saviour is not all he is dressed up to be. Question: where were these financial backers when it was Hoffmans job to bring in these financial backers only a few months ago? i can understand SISU wanting tio meet the backers, because it seems obvious to me that Hoffman used his job to find backers for our club and then simply crapped on us, got together with the clubs prospective new backers and they obviously decided to have a go at a takeover behind sisus back. This si probably the reason why he got the sack! and the reason the others went, they obviously conspired. so i dont go for all this bull about Hoffman saving us, he could have saved us when it was his job to but he didnt so come on guys get real, this is a hostile takeover attempt that they couldnt even get right! no to hoffman yes to foreign owners who are willing to plough money in ... hoffman is going to screw us over like he screwed sisu over

Some people like to bet on the horses. Some people like to bet on football. Some people like to go to a casino. Some like all of these. Some like to put a bit of cash into schemes like SISU. They do not put their life savings in. Some of their investments work out, some don't. Profits/losses are only realised when these investments are sold/taken off the books. Their investors can put more money in when they want. This gives a cashflow. The cashflow goes to where the most money can be made. Putting it simply, this is how they make their money.

I am a shareholder. I have shares that pay a dividend. This is a share of the profits that is given to the shareholders. My shares dividends are given out every three months. This is reinvested into more shares. If the market is down it buys me more shares. So when the markets are down I get more shares for my money. In the long run this buys me more shares and this gets me more dividends. As said earlier, some people make more money when shares go down. When the shares go up then my paper profit goes up. It is only a real profit if I am to cash my shares in. This is the same way SISU works but in a slightly different way. Some investment trusts have loans, but most of them have cash. A lot of them take over struggling companies, turn them around and then sell at a massive profit. Just because one of their investments are losing money it does not mean they are skint. It just means they are making less money.

Nothing in it to be honest. I work in the city and assets will go up and down in the markets. Last week was pretty bad for our stocks but that is just what the monitors say at the time. You don't sell or buy until the market conditions are right. While the markets slumped last week that was an ideal time to buy stocks. SISU would not have lost money at all unless they sold anything for a loss.
