We've had players and goals, now we want to know what was your favourite game at Highfield Road and why? Im sure for the older fans the record attendance for the Wolves game will be up there. The final match against Derby has got to be a high point in terms of performance and result, but would have been a gut wrenching day for sky blues supporters. As I only went to HR twice (and I missed the only goal in the 2nd) I don't really have any memories from the old ground, but would be great to hear your views. The best ones will be broadcast on Sports Lounge this at 10am on 98.6 Hillz FM, where I will also be broadcasting my exclusive 17 minute interview with Big Ron Atkinson. As I saw hundreds of games at Highfield Road it's hard to pick out the one but to me the match that had it all was when we beat Norwich 5-4 in 1977/78 season.It was the day after Boxing Day with a good crowd of 21,000 and it was non stop action at both ends of the pitch.The Canaries got a late penalty but our keeper Jim Blyth saved it so we held on and won 5-4.And to top off a great week we beat Man United 3-0 a few days later at Highfield Road as well. great memories !

Same here, my first game. My uncle George who worked in the sky blue pools office rang my dad on the morning of the game to say he had 3 spare tickets, so dad, me and my younger brother were the fortunate recipients. Fantastic game.

1963: Coventry 5 Halifax 4. George Hudson scored a hat-trick on his debut. Another memorable game was the April 1967 defeat of Wolves to win the second-division championship.

One that stands out in my memory is a win over Newcastle in div 2 . Newcastle were league leaders at the time and yet at one point we were 5-1 up, but they came back strongly to make it 5-4 and gave us a nerve wracking finish.

has to be the 3-2 semi final win over west ham
sealey let a goal under him - Gary thompson chased all the way back to win the ball only to score an own goal

our first ever semi final and we had given west ham a 2 goal head start - but what a turnaround

1990 versus Forest in the League Cup. 4-0 up in 35 mins, Forest got it back to 4-4.
Livingstone got the winner and all this happened in the first hour of the game.

My first ever league game with my dad, sat in the Main stand. April 6, 1963. - hooked for ever! Two other games from that time, v Sunderland F A cup 5th round, and Manchester Utd in the quarter final, so a great start to my Highfield Road career. Maybe that's why I'm still in denial over leaving Hihfield Road! The Wolves game '67 was a fantastic occasion, and the home game against Everton, last game of the season when we beat the Champions 4-1 to stay up, although I think Everton were already on the beach!

4-3 v Spurs, 3-2 LC v West Ham, 3-2 Chelsea (Dion hatrick), 3-2 v Man utd (Huckerby), 5-0 v Watford LC replay), 3-4 v Leeds (even though we lost - first half was fantastic 3-3 at ht), 4-3 v Man City (Thommo won it with a 25 yarder), etc...

beating arsenal 3-2 in 99 is my personal fav moment.

honourable mentions to the dublin goal vs newcastle and some time we beat leicester 4-2, think sean flynn scored?

So many fabulous games. Loved the early games for me when I was a kid, beating Liverpool 1-0 with Blyth saving a penalty, Wallace scoring a hatrick against Southampton in a 4-0 win, the 0-0 v Forest as they won the league that year with around 36000+ packed into HR. Moving on to Gibbo's hatrick against Liverpool in '83 in a 4-0 win. Beating Everton 4-1 to stay up in 1984. The cup winning season and later on around 1992 beating Liverpool and Villa at home over Christmas. Too many to choose from all told.

Loads of memories: The first game I can actually remember is the City vs Bristol City one with the delayed kick-off, although I'd been going for over four years by then I can remember anything before that.

West Ham semi, the last three games of the season where we had to win all three games culminating in the victory over Everton. The Youth Cup final. Anyone else there for that one? Lovely evening and over 10K there, wasn't there? The game when we played Chelsea and it was pissing it down, I think it might have been when the Grand National was called off due to the IRA. Beating Forest 5-4, Man City 4-3....fantastic place.

Arsenal 3-2 1999. Villa 2-1 1999. Derby 6-2 2005. United 3-2 1997. Liverpool 1-0 1993. These all stick in my memory. However the best game I saw at HR was Man City 4-3 in 2001. End to end, could've gone either way but Thommo hit a last minute winner. Arguably both sides at that point were far too good for Div 1.

Think you are right about Cov and Man City being too good at that point - unfortunately only 1 went up!

Anyway Liam, years:- West Ham LC 3-2 80/81, same as Watford 5-0 (day after John Lennon was killed I believe), Man City 4-3 as above, Spurs 4-3 86/87, Leeds 3-4 99/00, Chelsea 3-2 97/98, ditto Man Utd 3-2
