Holloway: I've created a monster with Blackpool (1 Viewer)

Ian Holloway fears he has created a monster – whatever happens to Blackpool this season.

The madcap manager says the expectations next term will be huge because of their success, whether they are in the Premier League or the Championship.

He said: “All I have done is created a monster for myself, with this season.

“What on earth am I going to do next season? If we stay up, I have got to stay up again. Otherwise I am a loser... rubbish.

“And if we go down, I have got to get them up again, otherwise I am not as good as I was the year before. I am in the s**t.”

The fact Blackpool can still stay up with five games left is a massive achievement in the eyes of most people – and they could yet land lucky.

The Seasiders face Stoke the week before they play in the FA Cup Final, when the Potters will be trying to avoid injuries.

Then they play a Manchester United side who might have wrapped up the title and could be preparing for a Champions League final.

Holloway is not looking for any charity handouts, though.

He is focused on making sure his players do the job themselves after a run of one win in 13 games sent them into the relegation zone for the first time last weekend.

Blackpool host Newcastle today and Holloway has been showing his players the press cuttings writing them off before the campaign had even started.

He added: “There is one article that sticks in my mind. I still have it at home and I reminded the lads of it on Thursday.

“It’s not on my fridge door, but I do know where it is.

“I reminded my lads of it and they remembered what was written when we started – what was supposed to happen to us.

“It was like a lump of coal burning in the back of their minds. Hopefully, it has reignited, because it needs to.

“If we turn this around now it would be bigger than going up – and we will have the biggest party ever.”

With the money he got this year for transfers he should have been able to build a quality championship side so if they did get relegated they would have to only buy 1 or 2 players to make them nailed on champions, they have just decided to waste money on the likes of Beattie who is only their for 1 last pay day, they have pritty much wasted their chance at the big time till they fluke promotion again.

if we ever get into that situation I hope we follow WBA's route, buy good quality young players, who arent quite good enough for the prem, but far to good for the Championship, players like Brunt,

I would like Blackpool to stay up but if they do i think they will just blow there chance again & buy ageing has been's.
