I remember when talk of a new stadium started. How many thought a stadium holding over 30,000 was going to be too big? Or in our dark days where everyone would have fitted into 1 stand including the away support. We thought it was brilliant when we started to get 20,000. Now it is reaching the stage where it isn't big enough and we're still only in the Championship. There was a period in those wilderness years where I'd have to drag myself up there. I did, but it was a slog. Lived for away days, home games were just a filler, and aside from the odd moment, pretty grim. This has completely flipped. Still go away but now look forward to home games much more.
The turnaround is staggering. Not just the bigger gates (highest attendance in the entire football league yesterday I note) or the atmosphere when it's like that (even allowing for the dip we had earlier in the season), it's the sense of community and togetherness. This is Cov, it's our place. Nobody takes liberties here. You've seen the city, now fuck off home.
If we go up gate receipts are insignificant. It would just be difficult to get to watch a game if not a STH.speaking of stadium capacity, does the CBS have any extension opportunities? Because if we went up we’d sell out every week and probably need to expand
What’s the current saleable capacity?speaking of stadium capacity, does the CBS have any extension opportunities? Because if we went up we’d sell out every week and probably need to expand
The only way is possibly standing capacity?
Not sure if it's feasible or not, hence I did end with a question mark.Doesn't change the capacity.
Crap pitch though…….I was the most critical earlier in the season about the drop in atmosphere but the past month or so the atmosphere home and away has been far, far better. More songs, a greater togetherness between fans, players and the manager.
It's took a while but the South Stand is finally becoming involved in it and alongside Block 3/4 has made it intimidating for away fans being packed between two noisy sections. Sunderland, like Stoke, were drowned out for nearly 90 minutes.
Home games are as enjoyable as away games now. Good crowds, great matchday experience and plenty options for a drink.
Not sure if it's feasible or not, hence I did end with a question mark.

Safe Standing Roadshow - Can safe standing increase capacity?
Q: Can safe standing increase capacity? A: Yes, it can. Where there is enough room and where the law allows it. Q: Is there enough room at my club’s ground? A: Yes, if the seating rows are deep enough (ideally at least 750mm deep) and the exits and other elements of the infrastructure (including,www.safestandingroadshow.co.uk

A massive problem on making the capacity bigger is not owning the ground.
It was built with the cantilever roof which allows for a further tier to be installed when needed ( maybe next season?)speaking of stadium capacity, does the CBS have any extension opportunities? Because if we went up we’d sell out every week and probably need to expand

Yes don't know why the made the gap between the stand and the goal line so deep. Was it designed with playing rugby in mind?Mentioned it in another thread, but easiest route is to sink the pitch. We have loads of room round the pitch, too much. Each row is around 1000 seats, so 4 or 5 additional rows would be a (relatively) easy way to expand without major construction work.

No ones expanding the ground mate. We rarely sell out. Wouldn't bed worth the outlay
We’d sell out every game if we went up
But there's every chance that might only be for one season.
And if they extended the ground the cost would be passed onto us through the rent, which would be an ongoing cost even if we went back down.
Not happening, makes no sense for any party.
If we survived the first season we wouldn’t be renting. We’d own the ground
Who says?
No one knows the Fraser group intentions.
And either way, would be like putting an extension on your house because you've got relatives staying for the weekend.
I think that as a PL club, the prospect of owning the stadium and club would be very tempting for someone.
Even crap PL clubs are desirable
My immediate reaction was that we already have safe standing areas on a 1 seat/ 1 standing, But having seen this video it looks like there could be a 30% increase in capacity with the rightThe current safe standing set up is a lot different to this. Literally a rail in front to lean on.
I don't disagree.
But I don't think extending the ground of a club who rarely sells out is feasible.
Get to the premiership and stay there for a couple of seasons and maybe its a different story.
But again, if Frasers don't want to sell, and don't want to buy the club, then they'll remain separate entities,(I've no idea what their intentions are).
It’s concourse size, toilets and exits that’ll be the issue UK grounds have to improve as we move to the German model, which we eventually will. Big terraces will return eventually, but not how we remember them.My immediate reaction was that we already have safe standing areas on a 1 seat/ 1 standing, But having seen this video it looks like there could be a 30% increase in capacity with the right configuration.
We have ways of making it vork.

If I’m not wrong the stadium was originally going to be 45,000 with two tiers of stands. Would need a lot of work but I guess it’s pretty much the same design? So expansions would be possible.
But let’s be honest, A we would need to stay in the prem for a couple of seasons so the extension makes sense and B we would need to own the ground.
What’s with the weird shark finsThere wasn't much from the original plan that actually made it into the finished product.
It doesn't look that nice in the original plans. Not much sky blue on the exterior
