Collins 6 Distribution a bit scatty and saves weren’t hugely convincing but otherwise fine

MVE 6 The extent to which we’ve drilled his overlapping runs throughout the squad is psychotic; should’ve done better for their goal
Thomas 7
Binks 6
Dasilva 6

Sheaf 6 Still not good enough for my money
Torp 7 Lovely cross for the first goal
Rudoni 7 Carried the ball very well

Sakamoto 7
Bassette 6 Still not a lone striker but did well to win the penalty (though it looked soft to me)
EMC 8 MOTM Welcome to Coventry City, Ephron Mason-Clark

Simms 6 Thought we looked more dangerous with him leading the line
BTA N/A
Eccles N/A

Collins was OK. A couple of good saves in the second half. Distribution was poor still and he has no urgency then he has the ball.

Dasilva was OK
Binks was poor again. What has Kitching got to do to be in front of Binks?!
Thomas was pretty good
van Ewijk had his best game for a while. His crossing can be rubbish.

Torp did well and would like to see him start more often

Sheaf. I just cannot see what the fuss is about. Passing is terrible. Loses the ball on a regular basis. No leadership. He should be in the ref's ear constantly, particularly with some of the strange decisions today. Maybe the arm band is weighing too heavily on him. Should be dropped for Eccles.

Rudoni had a decent game.

Saka looked more like himself.

EMC was superb from start to finish.

Norman. Love the guy and the more minutes he plays the better he will become. Still young, so let's give him time and be patient with him.

Going forwards you can see the work that's being done on the training pitch
Defensively it's the complete opposite!
Thought Torp ,EMC, Sakamoto and Rudoni were our best players .
Would start Simms against Pompey as we need a striker who can score some of these dangerous balls into the box
Collins had a much better game than of late

Collins 6 - couple of saves today, therefore seen more from him than usual.

MVE 6 - Partly at fault for the goal, got forward well but largely poor crosses.

Bobbert 7 - Granted we don’t keep clean sheets but there is a reason under 2 successive managers he’s been the main pick at CB.

Binks 5 - Still not convinced / conbinksed? Good with the ball at his feet though.

Dasilva 5 - Bit harsh as he was tidy but again, partially at fault for the goal. He always does this.

Torp 7 - Progresses the ball well, tidy on it. Great cross for goal. One annoying moment where we countered and he decided to run with the ball like a pensioner. Let’s not mention the other annoying moment.

Sheaf 6.5 - Again not amazing today, and made a few errors but he seems to be getting used to his new role now?

Rudoni 8 - Thought he was great today. Everywhere second half, great engine and technique and although he looks like if you swore at him he’d cry, he’s actually a tough strong bloke physically.

Bassette 6.5 - Wasn’t the greatest but had that 5 mins second half where he turned the defender and got them carded then won a penalty.

Sakamoto 7 - Good effort, still got nice skills. Faded second half.

EMC 8 - In off the face still counts if you’ve made another great run. Incredible assist for Rudoni.

Bidwell 6 - does his job.

Simms 7 - Unlucky not to score with his header and good moment where he challenged the keeper and got a shot away.

Eccles 6 - Don’t recall him doing much good or bad.

BTA 6 - As above.

More relief than elation, and you could see it at the end from the players too. Hull have to be the worse side I've seen for a long long time, and yet they still managed to go ahead against us. So much for FL to address in January . I was always a Palmer fan but after seeing O'Hare and Palmers lackluster performances, I don't think we would have been any better off had the two of them had stayed this season.

Banks was fine.
It's unfortunate for him that he is frequently exposed on the left by JDS

EMC is growing in confidence with a run in the side and its reflected in his improved performances. He's exactly the kind of player who will benefit from playing under Lampard.
Collins didn't produce any howlers but is still an accident waiting to happen.
Bobby was solid , JDS exposed on the only occasions they attacked his side. Has to be permanently dropped.
Sheaf was very poor again. Can't seem to pass a ball any more , very disappointing and not good enough. Eccles deserves to start ahead of him.
Bassette runs a lot ( similar to BTA) but there is no end product . He's still raw and will most likely improve but shouldn't be starting.
Simms desperately needs a run of games but I rather suspect that him and Kitching ( who I would start) are badly out of favour.
Rudoni is hot and cold. He needs to become more consistent during games.

MOM without doubt EMC. Hope his progression continues.

Collins - an improvement
MVE - steady game with a few good overlaps and crosses , didn't start giving ball away like he did against West Brom
DaSilva - some good link play and a few tackles but I worry when he is trying to close down a flying winger
Thomas - Solid
Binks - Decent
Sheaf - Better game and I only saw him misplace one pass but like all our midfielders he had more space against a very poor Hull midfield.
Torp - A good game and great cross for the goal
Rudoni - Pick of the central midfield, positive signs Lampard's got him moving in well for the crosses
EMC - Excellent going forward and decent in defence though he has no electric pace to get back in defence, it's his strength and trickery that allows him to beat people
Saka - Coming back into form, a very good outlet and picking up some lose balls in the Hull half
Bassette - Blows hot and cold, he did some naff things and good things
Simms - Looked quite good though this was in front of a Hull team rushing to try get an equaliser, so close with that late header.
Eccles & BTA - Not on long enough to rate either way, at lease they did not screw up

Team1 - I will have to look at the highlights to see why we conceded that first half goal, someone wasn't on that 2nd ball to clear
Team2 - Saw the 7 mins injury time out well.

Apart from one off his wrong foot Collins' distribution was again excellent. Two good saves the second of which was seriously good, Really good performance

Bassette as it stands is barely League one level. All energy, no precision, no finish. Headless chicken. A lack of a cool head is what is really missing in attack. Bassette definitely lack it. Simms is much more threatening

Our defence again let in a soft goal. The central defence were clearly culpable - so it should be "solid and decent - except for when they let in a goal"

I think EMC was culpable. Left Dasilva 2 on 1, got back eventually but by then we were in trouble.

Same happens with Wright, people say he doesn't track back, he does, but he's slow to spot the danger and let's the opposition get the jump on him.
Needs looking at and I'm sure it will be.

It was MVE that screwed up initially by letting the Hull guy get round him then Torp was the nearest to the ball drop but yes a disappointing goal to concede & like many others where we let a ball drop to an unmarked opposition player in the box.

Binks needs to realise that the object of football is not to kick it as hard as you can out of play. He's not the answer.

Dasilva was absolutely fine today. Basette was offside a ridiculous amount of times and the only ‘good’ thing he did was the penalty which was the result of a terrible touch, yet Basette is getting scored higher than Dasilva in pretty much everyone’s. It’s weird how much innate bias there is in ratings.
Bassette is getting an awful lot of slack from some for what was essentially a poor performance today

Said this at the game, getting caught offside when you're on the byline is criminal

It’s the rating of Rudoni that in general puzzles me. He delivers consistently and has impact. I thought jds was fine today - but he generally is when there is no defending to be done.
Think some people have weird reasons to dislike players that they'll hold on to no matter what. Rudoni replaced O'Hare who was a bit of a favourite with some.
I think he's decent and has far better end product than O'Hare personally.

I like Rudoni, but I personally don't think he's in the same league, (not literally because he is), as O'Hare.

Hopefully he gets there, thought he was very good today.

Collins 6

Awful performance first half, decent performance second half. I remember a story about Bobby Gould sacking a keeper at half time (Raddy Amorovic or similar?). Perhaps Frank gave Collins a proper bit of constructive criticism at half time “sort your self out or you’re going pal”. Whatever it was, in the second half there were a few decent saves and the distribution improved no end. He also played a sweeper keeper role which enabled the back 4 to push up and meant that their attackers had to play deep to remain onside. 4/10 first half, 8/10 second half.

MVE 7

I’ve deliberately not looked at how any one else scored any one on this thread before writing this. I think he did well overall, he linked well again with Tats, covered back, was good on the overlap and had the pace and stamina to track back. Overall - good enough.

Thomas 7

Ok. Did his job. Nothing spectacular. Can’t remember anything too bad or exceptionally good.

Binks 6

There was a definite change of mentality with regards to passing forwards rather than backwards. Not sure Binks or JDS got that memo. Anyway - just about ok.

JDS 6

Neat enough passing but not direct enough. Seemed to get brushed off the ball too often for me.

Torp 6

Plus 1 for assist, minus 1 for the penalty. Good zonal play and broke up their moves well. It’s his reading of the game which puts him, to my mind, ahead of Eccles. Perhaps Frank sees the same.

Sheaf 5

That was a lacklustre performance from Sheaf. As the “man” of the team he needs to show more grit. At least he tried to shoot on occasion and as soon as one hits the net then I think we will start to see a better Sheaf. Can’t help but think that the armband is weighing him down.

Rudoni 8

Scored. Linked well. Was all over the pitch. Did a good job with a high press. Good shift.

Tats 8

Fine performance overall. Can’t think of him doing much wrong in the match.

Bassette 6

Tried and pressed and harried but gave away some silly free kicks with his high boot, cheap fouls and lack of reading the offside trap.

EMC 9

Best I’ve seen him play and gets a 9 for a goal and great assist.

Didn't think he had it in him, but that second save from the outside of the foot shot was brilliant. Was right in line with it and it was so in.
