No, just needs a rest.

He was class for the first 15 or so games but is due a rest now. I think he and O'Hare are the only ones to play every game.
Good record to be be ever present with how many games we have had

Just checked, he has missed one game. O'Hare has featured in every game but started as a sub 3 times and been subbed off at times as well.

Hyam has played 2340 mins. O'Hare has 2139. Next most is Fadz with 1961 so those two are way ahead and Hyam is definitely due a rest.

Disagree. He’s been poor all season in terms of dealing with powerful or skilful forwards and his distribution has always been terrible. We need better if we are to progress. Same as Marosi, just like we did with the last promotion, no room for sentiment while we improve the squad.

Yes we will have to disagree. Because I thought he was excellent for the first 15 or so games as I say, and was one of the first names on the team sheet. His form has regressed in the last 10 matches though.

Also I think you're being harsh on his distribution. For a right footer playing on the left of a three (which takes him much wider than playing on the left of a two) he does a pretty good job. Left footed or two footed centre backs are like gold dust so he does a pretty good job being right footed.

Yeah we’ll have to agree to disagree. I think him and McCallum have been very weak on the ball and Hyam’s poor control makes a lot of our attacks falter or end up lumping the ball away and losing it. He made a couple of Hollywood tackles early on, but I don’t think that’s the hallmark of a good defender.

Playing wing backs and passing it out from the back you need wide CBs who are comfortable on the ball.

I have similar issues with Marosi pulling the back line backwards because he refuses to come off his line.

These are the kinds of things between us and a top half Championship side IMO.

Sad but I completely agree. Robins has been very good at this kind of thing. It’s not football manager where to can go up each year it takes time

There’s nothing nasty about it. Hyam and Marosi and Shipley were all key to our success last year(s). I hope they have a great career. I just want to see us push on and establish ourselves as a Championship side and to do that we’ll need better quality throughout. Midfield is OK, but other than that I think we can improve everywhere.

Absolutely. It's a ruthless game & you can't afford to stand still.

Robins has historically been very good at this even with popular players. Off the top of my head, players that had done well for us but he rightly deemed surplus:
Jack Grimmer, Lee Burge, Tom Davies, Michael Doyle, Zain Westbrooke & now Brandon Mason. We know he was looking to try & offload Biamou in the summer too.

The problem we have this season is the step up is enormous & you simply can't have that much churn in one summer. Therefore we are naturally carrying a lot of players who are below the required standard.

But we've got quite a few areas we'll need to improve on if we want to push on and we're not going to have the funds to do much of that at once so it'll be a drip feed. We may only be able to upgrade 1 CB in the summer, especially if want to upgrade our ACM's and improve our strikers by letting both Baka and Biamou leave. Plus we're going to need a LB/LWB as a priority.

So Fadz is out of contract entirely and Hyam has a year option. Fadz is already approaching 34 so another year tops is what we're going to get from him and as it's a complete renegotiation chances are asking for more money as a Championship club. Hyam we can just invoke the clause and keep him on cheaper wages for that year giving us better scope to bring someone in. He's made mistakes this year but he's far from alone in that. He's played a lot of minutes and a rest would do him good IMO - I really think fatigue is starting to play a part for him now. Hopefully Rose is now over his injury and can be brought in to allow that rest.

Besides which one of our first choices this year will be returning to his parent club and that gap would need filling anyway. None of the back-up/U23 options look ready yet, although having Pask there as a back-up (who's not really played at all at CB) who's still in contract would be OK.

Well who knows but if a player gets a smell of potential replacement or release I guess that could potentially affect form?
