Ibrahimovic has a pony tail and Defoe doesn't.

Defoe is a class act, not the same level as ibra, but I think he deserves a place in the England squad.

Thought this thread was going ask which had the biggest ego.

Because Ibrahimovic is world class and Defoe isn't?

Even if the players were of the same ability they're still very different contexts. The people saying Defoe's too old for the England squad aren't saying he's too old for football.

Ibra is probably one of the greatest talents to ever play the game, just look at his club history Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Milan and PSG. At every club, he has scored a goal every two games (apart from Juve). He has won the Dutch title (2 times), Italian title (6 times), La Liga, French Ligue 1 ( 4 times), Dutch Cup twice, Italian Cup 3 times, French Cup 3 times, along with the Super cup and world club cup. He has played in 4 Champions League quarter-finals and one semi-final.

Defoe, on the other hand, has played for Bournemouth, West Ham, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Toronto and Sunderland. Through his career, he averages a goal every 2.5 games, but at the height of it at the best clubs, it's worse. He has only every played six games in the Champions League. He has never won a trophy in his career.

So not sure how you can even possibly compare the two. Especially considering the far different player pools the two countries you mentioned pick from. You are hard pressed to name another Swedish striker whereas England have a host of club top scorers to pick from.

Defoe will still do a job for Sunderland but he is no where near good enough to play for England given the other striking options we have. Ibra would still walk into Sweden and is still the number one attacking option there. Both at the end of their careers but class is still permanent.

I seem to remember people shocked when United signed Larsson for a season, they then quickly understood why he was signed and the difference he made.

Gazza could walk into any Swedish team.

Ibra, or whatever his name is, (or Conk as I like to affectionately call him) wouldn't last a season in the Premier league. If I was a Man U fan, I would worry what Jose is going to do to the club. If Conk is a likely target, then the likes of Rashford are going to have to seriously consider their future.

The Premier League, you talk about it as if it's something special. It's mediocre. I attended a Premier League match recently and the standard of football was not much better than League 1.

'Conk' single handedly retired Ryan Shawcross from international football, I think he could just about survive in the same division as Olivier Giroud and Andy Carroll.
