If Sisu back down and things carry on as the are.... (1 Viewer)

The problem we will be left with is that the club will continue on the breadline of existence and there wil be no end in sight to our misery. To be clear I actually back Acls actions and want Sisu to go like most fans. But we need to think about what happens if ACL get their money and Sisu stay. What do we do next? Go through every season in the same sort of vein? To be blunt we need as fans to look at what can be done either to save our club or if it comes down to it to relaunch in some other way.

I've ever really supported the sky blues trust but f ths scenario plays out then this may bethe vehicle for us all to swing behind.

The real questions is how can SISU, or any owner, turn CCFC into a sustainable business?

The rent is an ongoing issue, but even if that was free, we would still be losing millions per year.

we need our own stadium simple as, redevelop the Alvis Retail park on the Holyhead Rd would be my choice, on a railway line and close to the city centre plenty of land still undeveloped there allotments i think

Stupid place to build anyway(the ricoh) and they won`t back down, a city centre location was always the best option, i see the council have just spent £50000 of our money on the Davis Cup as well

The Alvis site was redeveloped 22 years ago!

As for the allotments, builders have tried to get houses on there and failed as locals objected.

there is every chance SISU will choose to pay rather than risk losing control of what it has invested and then of course it all starts again

I think building a football Stadium in a city centre is a non starter for so many reasons, least of all, there's a "city centre" there already, does anyone, really think that planning permission would be given to knock down the heart of a city and build a hardly used Facility, built on the most expensive piece of land in Warwickshire, then there's the public order issues, "over refreshed"Football fans and families out for an afternoons shopping, hardly bears thinking about.
The Ricoh is ideally sited, near to the motorway networks, is easy to get to from all parts of the City, and away fans are quickly on their way home instead of rampaging through a city centre.
Just a couple of reasons why it wouldn't happen

what is there around the Butts? my understanding is there's only one stand there so if it's not totally land locked there would be potential there. think the council would be on very shaky ground to refuse planning permission just becasue they've got the hump with SISU. highly unlikley to happen obviously but theoretically I don't think it's impossible.

Butts is a non - starter too near middle Englanders living in Earlsdon "Village".

SISU will most likely pay but, this cash outflow may be the final straw for their investors and it may be the start of their exit.

Higgs IMO want out from running the stadium and will sell their share plus a more favourable rent to any reasonable owner ie not SISU or another hedge fund type

Why is a city centre a good position. Highfield Road was a nightmare to park. Any nearer the centre would be worse. As for getting the High Profile Davis Cup how can that be a waste of money?

The problem is SISU may do this and it is clear that ACL can no longer work with them as SISU tried to destroy them.

So what does happen next if SISU do pay up?

SISU continue, we get promoted and SISU sell the club to a rich arab who also buys the Ricoh. Straight through the Championship to the Premier league thanks to an inspired season by Rooney.

Sorry for taking so long to reply but its difficult to type in a strait jacket.

Oh that would be so good for 10 years at least anyway till owning a prem club becomes no longer trendy.

Actually you are wrong to assume it was the wrong place to build as usual the council who approved planning etc have done jack in developnment work on creating a transport infrastrucuture for the stadium but are taking as much money from it as they can.

Using the butts will be worse than highfield road and there is no available land to use. Council have already sold that off.

City centres are by far the best places to build new stadiums. The fact that not many are built centrally is down to some of the reasons you give, but it isn't unprecedented.

The Millenium Stadium in Cardiff is in the town centre as is St James Park Newcastle, in fact there are quite a few that are within a short walk of the town (Bramall Lane for example), and almost without exception they are amongst my favourite grounds. Being able to spill out of a ground into town centre pubs and a nearby train station gives them enormous appeal.

Coventry would be more suited than most as road access to the town is good and we're not exactly short of vacant land. The derelict Royal Mail sorting office would have been a perfect location, and it would have been a massive boost to a town centre that becomes more irrelevant every day and which is dying on its arse.

It won't happen now of course, it is far too late and I agree it is the Ricoh or nothing. Would have been great if we'd had a new town centre stadium though. But I guess for some people getting away by car that bit quicker is far more important. The Ricoh is universally hated by football fans across the land precisely because it isn't centrally located, but some see this as a good thing. Shit place to put a football ground if you ask me.

What is the problem with the location. With the station due its ideal. I agree if your main aim is to get here get drunk, go to the game, go to a night club then go home on the last train home. But that is a minority of fans.
In fact with the casino onsite its a perfect location.

Stadium wise we are stuck with what we have unfortunately and lets be realistic just look at the area the Ricoh covers and tell me where there is a similar expanse of land, the only place that comes near is the old Celenese plant behind the Parkstone club, about half a mile from the Ricoh, hardly worth it. G,et a decent team and crowds will return but not with SISU there most fans have had there fill with them.

in answer to the OP,
the sisu controller is JS,
therefore, whilst they are still the incumbents,
we have to guess at the total variable that is, female logic,
this of course, tempered by the fact that her primary logic is me, me, & me !!!!!!!!!!
logic therefore maybe being cast aside for personal reasons ?
= dosh

If SISU do anything to resist administration at the hearing next week, it is essential that ACL immediately apply for a winding up order and simultaneously evict CCFC from the Ricoh. Make it clear there will be no fannying round, make it clear that SISU have run out of road and that it's ACL's way or the highway.

Goodbye SISU.

Maybe we should buy her a new handbag in exchange for new owners?

I think that will be the main focus. I also struggle to see why SISU would want to play there after this humiliation. But the football league will not let them off the hook by allowing them to take the club out of the city.

A train stop and regular shuttles solves all that in one swoop though..................so when do they actually start building it or has that plan gone tits up as well ?!

I think this is still a goer. Funding is secured and outline planning permission granted.

My understanding is that building should start in the autumn and the station will be operational a year later (they also have to build a new station at Bermuda Park and upgrade the line and platforms at existing stations) so it is a big and complex project.
