If we win Sunday? ..... (2 Viewers)

Say we win against Gillingham sunday and maybe Sheffield united lose this is a bit irrelevant and we are both on 4 points then my question is can we realistically aim for the play offs or even higher?

I know its a major ask and not to be carried away with the good start to the season and get ahead of myself but why not? If we are level points with shef utd after weekend then they will still be aiming for automatic promotion im sure even with their bad start so why cant we realistically aim for the play offs?

Obviously wolves and peterboro etc will take up top 3 spots but last 3 places are anyone's.

Thoughts?

don't get ahead your self, long way to go . Sheff utd i think will be splashing cash in the next window, could be on some of our lads .

Would take returning to Coventry and relegation over staying in Northampton and promotion. No reason why the team can't make top 6 though.

I would suggest this. Lets see where we are at Christmas first, then lets see how the squad is looking after the January Window THEN judge where we will finish.

The biggest two factors that will conspire against us are;

1) we have a pitifully small squad, mostly full of kids who cannot be expected to maintain the current level of performance, and
2) The SISU factor - usually when things start to go well they fuck it up in some way or another, the last time being fucking about with the rent when we were heading towards the play-offs like a steam train under Robins.

Would take 'Play-Off's or Promotion & staying in Northampton, for the short- term at least! PUSB!

I also would take play off or promotion over coming back to Coventry also. only for short term as just because we return to Coventry doesn't mean problems go away.

I hate to say this but going back to the ricoh now could destablise our current form. Maybe the kids are thriving because theres less pressure on them at sixfields

That's bollocks. The team is thriving because of Calum Wilson. It makes no difference which stadium we are playing in.

Bit harsh on the rest of the team who have all upped their game from last year. Thomas, Fleck, both Clarkes, Chrisite etc are all as important to the team as Wilson is.

I said recently on this forum that I believe that the top six is achievable, we are going to have to be pretty lucky with regards to Injuries and sustaining the form we currently have, it also becomes vital that we don't just rely on Callum Wilson for goals, I know Leon has scored four goals this season but ideally could do with Leon just 2 or 3 goals off the pace of Callum.

I would be VERY surprised if leon clarke doesn't finish this season with more goals than Callum Wilson

I would be very surprised if Clarke or Wilson or both don't finish the season with us. Only chance is if we are top 8 by jan 1st then they may have to keep them where as if we are winning a few losing a few aroun 14th then can see cashing in. I think that's a fair comment.

Team is playing fantastic, best football I have seen for years. Ironically best performance was at orient where they were outstanding. We effectively have 14-15 players, the bench is very weak and lacks experience. When suspensions n injuries come we will find things much harder. Come january the bigger offers will arrive for christie and wilson n that they may change flow of play. I know wilson is getting the headlines but cyrus is man of season, fantastic every game. I am enjoying the moment, 35 years of watching n we haven't had many golden patches. Also Elvis will be linked with jobs soon, I am sure chairman in championship have noticed our form n style of play, Without recruits I think play offs r out of reach but we have had a better start to season than many of us expected n the style of play is pleasure 2 watch.

Gonna take a strong board to keep this setup together. We know we've got that, but are they inclined to use it for footballing purposes?

Also, if we get promoted: do we use the break clause and get a bigger groundshare (assuming we're not home)?

And for bonus points: would people campaign the proposed clubs like we did to Walsall if the ground was closer?

Take the games in blocks of four. The first six games are Finding your feet games. Fortunately we have wiped the deficit. Christmas and Easter are the next big markers.
Long long way to go folks

Who gives a shit about this team that plays in N'ton? OK, well I do. But not enough to attend and encourage Satan. Who else?

I believe if we could push for promotion and maybe get promoted it would make us more as a club more sensiable to buy for outside investors to hopefully push sisu to sell and get us back to richo by the start or the end of next next season.

Completely agree...Promotion is our best and quickest way to get people round the table with a whole new set of circumstances, and get us back to the Ricoh. To say nothing of added interest from potential new owners.

After several years of players not performing we at last have a team and manager that due to numerous problems beyond their control are playing for the shirt.

This, we should be proud of. However if and when they come back to the Ricoh, we need to have crowds of 18,000 + to show we care.

Does anyone really know the truth.... Joe Elliott put them in control...that's history. I fully agree with NOPM and more so with KCIC.

If they keep up the current form, they will be promoted. Last year we were appalling and if you take out the loss of 10 points we were only three wins from the top six.

Keep the faith, stay away from Northampton and all will be good. Does anyone really care if Sisu own the RICOH and even get it for nothing. Mr Elliott and Hoffman are just the same..no money with big ambitions...
