And nobody's refilled my drink!
No one has yet answered my question as to why I should support a new stadium outside the city when sisu haven't even attempted to build one within the city.
Regarding the Bees, its worth noting that they were founded as the Brandon Bees and, apart from a few occasions post war, have always played outside the city.
There was a team pre war that raced at Lythalls Lane, and they were the original Coventry team. The Bees renamed themselves Coventry when the original Coventry team shut down.
Because they know as well as we do that they will not be allowed to build within the city.
Says who?
You and sisu know full well that the council cant refuse a legitimate planning application.
So I repeat, why aren't the club exploring options to build a new stadium within the city?

Because they would make life as difficult as they could. They can refuse permission and force sisu to appeal - they would put obstacle after obstacle in their way.
Nonetheless... The Bees do represent Coventry and are based outside the city. It clearly demonstrates that the arrangement can work. I'm not saying that's what should happen, far from it. Just that its not impossible and that we shouldn't perhaps be getting so worked up over lines in the dirt.
Says common sense. The word 'legitimate' is open to interpretation and there are many creative ways to prevent something from happening. And do you honestly think SISU are going to go cap in hand their best buddies at CCC for planning permission? It will never happen so why bother discussing it?
So what makes you think they wont encounter the same problems outside the city?
Coventry is surrounded by green belt. That means an automatic no no to the ground being built there.
It would be much easier and cheaper to build a stadium in the city than out of it.

So they should.
Oh I see, you actually are that stupid. Ok I'll spell it out; The reason I have used Coventry Bees as an example is that they DO
NOT ride within the city boundary but DO represent Coventry. Do you see?
But that they do make a good Christmas dinner.
Unfortunately in all my golfing years I have never got an eagle.
Best ever score at Brandon for me is 173.
When I used to go to the speedway it was always Brandon Bees with no mention of Coventry. When did the name change take place?
ah, but as you are saying sisu should have a bad time, your really saying you hate CCFC and want them to go bust
I've read this whole thread, and do see your point about the Bees. I also see Astute and Ron's points. I think it comes down to principal of where CCFC play. We used to have a club within walking distance of town. Then they moved to further afield purely down to infrastructure. If we moved to the ricoh and it was out of the "city limits", I imagine we wouldn't think much of it other than the "it's closer to Nuneaton" comments we do now. It's the fact that the club has been taken away completely, and all we've been told the team will return to the "Coventry area" is why people are so against "1 foot outside of officially Coventry" IMO
To be fair to SISU in this, football no longer has any affinity whatsoever with its roots. Many teams hardly have any players born in this country never mind in the town they play for. A large proportion of fans don't live in the town they support. This can especially be said of ManU where most supporters have no physical link with the place at all.
As far as the new types of owners are concerned the names are just a brand. Where they play is irrelevant except they need to be where they can make the most money. To Sheiks and Oligarchs does it matter that Man City is in Manchester or Chelsea in London?
We the fans only matter as long as we keep buying the shirts.
If Sisu got the club to the prem they would get lots of fans turn up no matter where they played. That is the truth of it.
The only thing that surprises me is that many more were outraged at the idea of Mr Haskell buying Nuneaton moving them to the Ricoh and funding them up the leagues. Back then to some the boundaries were the most important thing in the world. Now boundary what boundary

List the viable sites.
If it was anything to do with CCC we would know. So they say outside CCC area as they don't trust them
All this when hardly anyone believes that they will build one. They certainly have us arguing with each other don't they?
