I respect your view that Wasps shouldn’t be relocated, and I'm certainly not "rubbing my hands (or anything else) with glee" about it. But the truth is it’s very hard to define where they should actually be. The “London Area” is such a nebulous concept, as is shown by your suggestion of Upton Park – which has no more relationship to High Wycombe or the west side of London than the Ricoh does.

Unfortunately, Wasps can’t go back to Sudbury. Staying in Wycombe would perpetuate their removal from their original home (unless you count it as the “west London area”). But if they went back to London (especially somewhere like Upton Park!) it would be a betrayal of the fans who’ve been watching them in Wycombe for more than 10 years.

You MAY have the moral high ground, but it’s nothing like as clear cut as you believe.

I will be pissed off as wasps then will have shown us how easy it was to get the job done. They did what most knew we should have done in the first place in the manner that we should have done it.

Also I will be pissed off if SISU don't bid in excess of three million for the other half and publicly announce that they have done so and put genuine pressure on the council.

Finally if they do that and wasps have the veto and use it. Then after a long long time of sulking I may consider the idea of attending a cheap Legoland stadium built near a real Legoland town (Hinkley) and still I probably won't bother. Due to my first point.

Part of me thinks the council do not believe a new stadium will be built. That they think concluding the Wasps deal for 100% will lead to the removal if SISU.

this is what happens when councils and hedge funds are allowed to get involved where they shouldn't, we've been shafted by the council and by sisu, and if wer'e honest we haven't done anything to stop either, guess we've just given up, would love to see some proper protests, can't believe anyone from coventry agrees with having wasps here, sadly think the fights gone from our fans to do anything, I fear the worst though if we just sit back and see what happens, " fight till the game is won " ????? Not anymore

The debt will be mounted on the club
To access 365 day incomes it needs foot fall. No big supermarkets will come on board and no one will travel out of town for a small alternative venue.
Venue will be too small for concerts.
Wasps had to take the chance or die of debts in Wycombe.
No one wanted the Ricoh other than Wasps.

The very fact that Wasps will be owning 50% likely rising to 100% is because Sisu are Wankers. Lurker is right, Sisu had their chances and blew it. I, like you would love CCFC to own the stadium. But with Sisu in charge, exactly how much of that stadium would CCFC own? Wasps have shown Sisu up on how to get a stadium, no fucking about.

Who exactly are the bunch of hypocrites? Good mate of mine (who is a Chelsea lad but Cov born and bred) has said he is looking forward to watching top flight rugby at the Ricoh and quite a lot of his work mates are too. There was obviously a need to move because that's why they did, otherwise they would have moved to Upton Park or wherever else they could find. I wonder if they did move to Upton Park if the hysteria on here would be the same though. Despite some of the more outspoken ones on this forum about the move, there does seem to be quite a lot of interest for the move in a positive sense. It's just a shame that some on here didn't show as much displeasure about us going to Sixfields. However, it will be interesting to see if rugby fans are as fickle as football ones after the first game.

The big 'local' derbies will attract substantial crowds I'm sure. The likes of Leicester and Northampton have huge support on their own and all sorts of new glory fans will spring up from round the Midlands for Wasps on these days. However it will be interesting to see the turnout for mediocre games against the likes of Sale and London Welsh ? The Ricoh is way too big for crowds less than 15,000 in my opinion and Even for the big games Wasps will struggle to achieve anything like that, it was built for the football Premiership and calculations were made on having gates upwards of 25,000 every week. It didn't work out like that did it ?

Yep, I'm sure when those teams come to town then crowds will be larger. As for all the other matches, I imagine crowds will be pretty low. And hopefully so. In fact, I'm hoping it goes tits up and Wasps fuck off.

I think what the non duel sports fans (football/rugby) don’t grasp is what a big big deal this is for people who follow rugby. Wasps moving to the Ricoh is like Arsenal moving to the Ricoh...sure a die hard CCFC fan might say no I’m not going to watch them but everyone else in the City and surrounding area who likes football would be up there in a flash just to see all the internationals super stars on display. Rugby fans have been starved of top class sport in this city of 40 years so it’s no shock they are going to jump at the opportunity.

Good game in prospect at the BPA on Saturday. Cov take on a well backed and monied team called Esher { John Inverdale's crowd I believe }, looking forward to it !

That's the thing. Coventry itself aside, the surrounding area have all had easy access to either leicester, Gloucester, Northampton and Worcester (relegated last year), for example warwickshire borders those counties.

Yes my dad is a Cov Rugby season ticket holder and will be there Saturday. My brothers neither of which have ever been big football fans like I am, have travelled over to Leicester Tigers for years to see top flight rugby but only a handful of times a season, one of them has already said he is having a season ticket nest season. Whether I agree or disagree with the move I think it will be more succesful than people think. The first game also has the added bonus that its again London Irish and there is a large community of Irish in Coventry and Birmingham who may go just to support the away team.

One of the things people like with Rugby is that you can have a beer all the way through the game (how ironic will that be when were sitting up there on a Saturday thinking if I miss the last 10 minutes of the first half I might get a pint in by the start of the second half!) so people don't drive and getting to Leicester by train or bus is total bollocks. I don't know anyone who supports Northampton or Gloucester and that live in Coventry so I can't comment on that.

Personally think WASPS have played a blinder from start to finish whether we like it or not. Fully exploited our own turmoil in respect to the ground, engaged with the local council and got a deal done very quickly and easily at a decent price. They knew with all of the legal action that the council would sell to another buyer other than SISU so took advantage of that.
They are now looking at the potential of the city in respect to fan base and are now benefitting from that, if people like Rugby and Football then they will have to choose one (not both). Clearly this game being the first one is goign to be another Gillingham and it will drop to a more 'usual' level but alot of those people may be city fans (or ex city fans) who have washed their hands with the club. If they continue to do well then the football club will loose them forever.

Dont like that they are here but i admire their approach...

And aren't they the same issues with the Ricoh? People moan about it being hard to get to (yes station is being built), but it's still not particularly easy to get to other than by driving for most of those outside the city. Italia thinks they will be attracting fans from Shropshire and Staffordshire.
