The board of the company which operates the Ricoh Arena has undergone major changes after two key figures stepped down and a new chairman was appointed.
Martin Reeves, chief executive of Coventry City Council, has left the board of Arena Coventry Limited (ACL) along with chairman Nicholas Carter.
Mr Carter has retired after serving as an ACL Board member for the last 11 years and chairman for the last 18 months.
Richard Moon, the city council’s regeneration and property expert, will replace Mr Reeves, while events specialist Chris Robinson has been appointed as the new chairman of ACL.
Mr Reeves said he has decided to step aside to allow more time to focus on his responsibilities as chief executive for Coventry City Council.
He said: “As the leader of the council made clear in her statement to full council last month, the council faces a challenging – and exciting – year ahead as work with partners across the city and sub-region continues to stimulate the economy and create jobs and opportunities for people.
“Focusing on this work is my priority, and I’m delighted that Richard Moon, with his wealth of experience in the private sector property development world, will be replacing me on ACL’s board as it seeks to develop its business plan.”
Coun Ann Lucas, Coventry City Council leader, said: “I need my officers, particularly at senior level, to focus on guiding us through the toughest financial times we have arguably ever faced. We simply must - for the sake of the taxpayers of Coventry - meet the ongoing financial challenges as best we can and grab with both hands every single opportunity to make our city prosperous.
“As I said in full council in January this council must - and will - move on.”
Mr Robinson has a background spanning business, hospitality and football governance and was until recently non-executive chairman of Heritage Portfolio Limited, an events and retail catering company recently awarded a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty the Queen.
He previously owned Wheatsheaf Catering Limited, a specialist in events and hospitality catering, working for stadiums including Murrayfield, Hampden and Tynecastle.
He will serve ACL as independent chairman on the ACL Board, which is otherwise comprised of representatives of ACL’s two shareholders – Coventry City Council and the Alan Edward Higgs Charity.

Doesn't appear to relate to the dispute, seems a regular business situation - couple of people leave and they get replaced. It can never hurt to have some new faces in place.

The new chairman, Chris Robinson, sold his company a few weeks ago to Centreplate, a giant American events management company. He was also CEO of Hearts FC at the time of the sale to Romanov.

Centerplate have provided the catering at the inaugural balls for 30 United States presidents, 13 Super Bowl American football matches and the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. In this country, one of their subsidiaries is the food supplier to football clubs including Spurs, Dundee United, Hibs and Inverness Caledonian Thistle as well as Leicester Tigers rugby squad.

I wonder if something is afoot?

You've misread, it's ACL's CEO that's been replaced. Fisher is still in post unfortunately.

It's a valid point. Do you think if there were a change of faces all round we might actually get somewhere? On the other hand, Fisher seems to be Joy Seppala's puppet since she became "hands on". I think fresh faces would maybe bring a fresh approach on all sides. Can't see Fisher getting the push though unfortunately.

Can't do any harm. When Joy seemed to get a bit more active I thought she might get rid of Fisher and place all the blame on him. Easy to do, just say that was his policy not SISUs, draw a line under everything etc etc. Think we've gone beyond that now though, ACL and CCC appear to have left the door open slightly for SISU to come back with an offer but SISU seem to not want to make an offer and Higgs don't seem to want anything to do with them until they pay their outstanding legal bill.

Not the way I read it at all.

AL reiterated that it is time to move on. The new person in charge has had his own businesses running stadiums. He has just sold his last one to take over this position it sounds like. Don't sound good for SISU. Will they have to come to an agreement or build now?

But on a massive maybe. ......He was CEO of Hearts FC. So he knows about football and he knows about running stadiums. So he has sold companies and a football club. Has he got money? Could this be a way out for SISU? If this was the case he would be in charge of our club and the stadium.

Wondering If there have been more subtle significant change In structure here ,given AL's statements started around the time this guy came onto the board.

Couple that with Higgs started purchasing properties/bars around that time ,Is It possible there have been financial transactions,even some equity to take Compass from the equation ,basing this all on his previous background?

Is that true? That could work either way. Wouldn't want Pressley to be stuck in the middle of a row between his employer and a friend. Might make his situation awkward.

Don't think they're just sports, think they aim for regeneration of the city as well. As well as Browns they've recently purchased another place in the city centre to be used as an arts centre / music venue.

Is this built on top of the old piss houses? I think it is - I used to get the Chapelfields bus home from opposite their. It's certainly changed a bit round there.
