What a party that would be if it came off.crazy to think we're just one good season away from the Prem
to think our revenue would increase by about 20 fold...crazy.What a party that would be if it came off.
MR's has done miracles under trying circumstances since returning. SISU played their part in backing him. Adi Vievash has been integral to MR's, so if one went the other would go too.
Bristol City have no pedigree of top level football. (1976- 1980, yes a long time ago but we have been there. I agree we have no recent pedigree but we're trying very hard to get there). Thie gound is old (erm, you obviously haven't seen the £46M rebuild finished just 3 years ago, it's now very, very modern) their support average (averaged 21K this season pre lockdown, pretty good I would say) (two city club - both always in lower divisions, wrong!) There is no evidence to suggest Bristol City would pump up substantial funds to build a side for the premiership challenge (when we were last in the play offs, our local, self made multi £Billionaire owner made £40M available should we win, we didn't, sadly and we weren't ready, hence the rebuild. He's also paid for the stadium rebuild and is going through planning for a £100M redevelopment of the area immediately outside the stadium which he has purchased plus we have a CAT 1 training centre being built to replace our current CAT 2) New club and keeping status quo in mid table (not where we are aiming, we're not the Bristol city of 1990 anymore) or so would not be a good career move for MR's wondering what he might have achieved with us.
He has earned the faith and backing at CCFC, the fans, and has established a sustainable model that other clubs have yet to try. He has built a squad capable of improving each season and with the relative ability to tweak at he sees fit. Now his new challenge is to see if he can get a run at the premiership. It may be a season or two of ups and downs before he gets it right, but he will relish that challenge. If backing is not forthcoming, and he fails he has the perfect excuse to put that down to the clubs situation being unresolved. Go to the likes of Bristol City and fail, and he hurts his reputation. He has much more to lose.
I firmly belive we will be back at the Ricoh for next season and so with that comes a loosening of purse strings to maintain our chances, large crowds and an atmophere far better than the dour one in Bristol (really? Seeing as you still think we have crowds of 12K at the old Gate, you clearly don't have a clue what you're talking about) , or many others. We are very much on an upward spiral.
If Aston Villa approached him with a silly money offer, and being only up the road - that would likely be a very different scenario. He won't go to a Norwich, Bournemouth or many others over CCFC. at this time.
Seems to be the obvious choice, IF we can get him.Chris Houghton would do a fine job where ever he went tbf. Decent guy, decent manager and gets the best from his players, while on slightly restricted budgets. Reminds me a lot of Mark Robins, but has proved himself time and again.
The post was embarrassing.I had to reply to this as it's factually miles out!
Sorry but this post is utter tripe! We're not pretending to be anything we aren't, a middling club on the up, not a big club.
Good luck for next season and FWIW, I hope MR stays where he is.
Not the Ricoh but has earned rave reviews from both our own supporters and visitors.
Not bad considering where we've come from.
Nothing against yourselves, a fine club but I must defend my club against this utter guff!
They're in freefall at the moment.
I was about to say that he is way out of touch with what has happened to Ashton Gate.I suppose the bloke who sat on his shed to watch the games has had to buy a ticket now!I had to reply to this as it's factually miles out!

He was given a free one by the club when the South stand opened due to the positive publicity it generated. Whether he still gets a free one now I've no idea.I was about to say that he is way out of touch with what has happened to Ashton Gate.I suppose the bloke who sat on his shed to watch the games has had to buy a ticket now!
If the season was 5 or so more games long i'd genuinely fear for them

I don’t think MR will leave, but there is one scenario that would worry me, and that’s where Norwich get rid of Farke, and are looking for a new Manager. MR played there, there is a good supporter Chairman and board (although they don’t spend much on player recruitment) and they’re not renowned for hiring and firing. It’s a stable, well run club. People who have played there tend to like the club and the area (I think Huckerby still lives in Norfolk?) MR may also have their preferred profile, working within a small budget, developing young talent, and selling on. And they would give him time. He’s untested at this level, but who had heard of Farke before they appointed him? They’ve been to us recently for Maddison and McCallum, and we took Chris Badlan from them, so there’s probably a relationship already.
So, thank goodness that there doesn’t seem to be any desire at Carrow Road to get rid of Farke, but if they do, I’ll be sweating! And I couldn’t stand the crowing from my Canary supporting fans - I’ve had enough of that over the past few years!
And it always seems to be raining for night matches in Bristol, which makes the journey south to get away from Bristol even worse....the last time I went, there were no backs to the seats, so if you leant back too far you were on the knees of the person behind.hahaha

Most posters here would love us to be taken over by a local boy who has made millions with his Hargreaves lansdown company (FTSE 100?), who would buy a stadium......apart from Paxman II

I think Robins is more likely to get sacked next season than leave for another club. If things start off badly next year, people will moan and turn on him faster than you think.

“Get an experienced Championship manager in Clive. What’s Mickey Adams doing these days? Maybe Bobby Gould fancies it?”
I don’t think Gould has managed at that level
Ah, our beloved east end, we absolutely loved it, even if it was a bit shit!the last time I went, there were no backs to the seats, so if you leant back too far you were on the knees of the person behind.hahaha
Nope, all your fault.Doesn’t Robins still live near derby his mrs had a shop over there so maybe derby or Nottingham Forest would be tempting, ps do Bristol city get as much hassle from Sunderland for that game 40 odd years ago?
Brum and lee Johnson? That will end well. :facepalm:Ouch.... Clotet and Brum part company...
