Last night on Twitter there were some silly people saying we were going to be swapping Kieron Westwood for old favourite Robbie Keane in what would be the biggest swoop since last week when not so old favourite Craig Bellamy joined Cardiff.
It's a stupid rumour not least because Spurs already have two goalkeepers and what's the point of Westwood sitting on the bench in The premiership. And that's before you get around to pointing out that a dozen clubs in The Premiership would bite Spurs arm off for a sniff of Robbie Keane. He may move on but not as far down as the Championship surely. If he's going back anywhere surely Wolves is more likely, he clearly still likes them and they're Premiership.
We should stick to looking for lower league bargains and a ball playing midfielder or a pacey winger and not batting above our average.
It's what I thought, Keane's too good for us and Spurs are good for Goalies you'd have thought. Part of the thing is though that Westwood's going to be to good for us if we don't get promoted so I'd assume he'd be off at some point between now and the start of next season.
But where, not many clubs are hard up for Goalkeepers and I doubt he's going to want to be 2nd choice or go up to get relegated again and end up back where he is now. A cheeky suggestion might be that Arsenal need a goalkeeper but I doubt Wenger's auto route has the Ricoh's postcode in it, it only seems to go to France. Manchester United are going to need one when Van De sar retires his conk and if you're going to sit on the bench anywhere I guess you could stomach it easier at Old Trafford especially if you knew you'd get your chance later down the road. But they're mostly observations and not based on evidence it just seems like the wrong time to be a goalkeeper in the Championship who might want a step up to the Top League. Especially when Shay Given looks to be available. David James couldn't get a place in The Premiership and he was England's number one at The World Cup.
