I noticed the more you cheer Murphy the better he plays, so get behind him. Messi does not play for 90mins ,with both just enjoy the moments of pace and skill, it can change a game in a flash.

Some guys by me were having a pop and he cupped his ear to them when he set up the second. On form we have a few that worry defenders at this level. Am waiting for Kent to score, think he could go on a run if he gets 1 or 2.

He is a flair player a player that can change a game in a brief moment of brilliance, admittedly he is usually a very very slow starter but he has provided some valuable assists towards the end of games, would some people prefer to see him running up and down the pitch for 90 mins and provide nothing?

I still for the life of me can't understand how anyone can justifiably boo Murphy? The lad is unplayable once the teams tail is up, considering some of the wingers who we've had down the wings in recent years, Julian Gray and Ellery Cairo etc the lad is a breath of fresh air.

Granted he doesn't have a huge effect over the full 90 minutes but he's a young man plying his trade and there's not many wingers in the world that can influence a game over the 90 minutes. He just needs some loving you can see that when he comes over to take the corners, we have in the past and could do now a whole lot worse.

Jacob Murphy is a winger simple as that and wingers are the most annoying and frustrating players of them all. I remember a lot of our best wingers over the years Humphries, Rees, Hannighan, Hutchison, Bennet, David Smith, Peter Ndlovu all of them were as frustrating as they were brilliant, yes even Hutchie. Out of the game for an hour then suddenly boom. Murphy was desperate first half Saturday, missed a sitter, looked about as interested as my granny, then pow two dribbles, two set-ups, two goals and we win from a losing position, thats what wingers are all about.

Hutchison had many a bad game. Same can be said for all of those you have mentioned.

What you get with these players though is the ability to produce that one moment of brilliance. Actions that can change games in an instant.

Fact is, we need players like Murphy and Kent. For every Vincelot and JOB, you also need the odd luxury player here and there. Could be argued of course that both Kent and Murphy in the same team is a luxury too many, but we do need these types of players.

These sorts of players change games.

Yes, despite having the better of Murphy for three-quarters of the game that right back up against him looked in bit of a state at the end. I have a little feeling it will be Murphy magic Tuesday seems to like the night games.

Some of the stick he was getting in block 19 on Saturday was ridiculous, according to the bloke next to me both Peterborough goals were his fault! Even when he set up Armas first goal he felt he had to say 'it's all he's bloody done all game'. The abuse obviously has a negative effect on his confidence so I fail to see why some of the idiots insist on getting on his back so much. I personally think he was one of our most dangerous players on Saturday and I'm glad TM kept him on at half time when some were calling for his head

On occasion he looks like he's either knackered or a bit bored, but his presence alone shits up a fullback; if that fullback is booked, Murphy's automatically the most dangerous man on the pitch. I can accept his game being relatively inconsistent otherwise he'd be Arjen Robben and we'd be remembering that time he played for us once, but I'd like his corners to be a little more consistent if he's the designated taker for the season.

He needs support not criticism from the stands, he is a match winner and we haven't had many of them for years and years, I think he is crucial to this seasons promotion push.

Spot on. I'm a big fan of him, he grinds the full back down and then destroys them late on with his fitness and athleticism.

Booing anyone in our side at the moment is poor showing. We are 4th at the moment and riding high. Compared to the last 20 seasons the up-turn is remarkable. We need to make the most of it. Typical football fans though. Absolute no clue. As stated plenty of times by TM, young players including wingers drift in and out of consistency. If they performed at their highest levels week in week out they would be playing in Madrid.

I didn't hear anyone booing him, I heard some booing at the end of the first half but didn't associate it with Murphy more the whole team ?

I don't understand what they think it will achieve. I can understand if its a seasoned pro on top wages not putting any effort in but this is a 20 year old. Even if you don't cheer his every move don't give him constant grief.

Whatever the failings in the first half it certainly wasn't due to lack of effort. All the players couldn't find their touch and generally we were outplayed by a very good side. Murphy did lose the ball a lot and could hardly find a pass... BUT booing him or any other city player at the moment is bang out of order. The majority are young kids developing their skill and strength. Luckily ricketts, Martin and fleck (and fortune) are there to help them get through sticky moments.
Murphy came out second half possessed and destroyed their right side for pace and some great link play. Yes he can be frustrating but without his second half display I doubt we would have beaten posh

The idiots will claim the reason he got two assists late on is because them getting on his back and slating him spurred him on to a better performance.

He definitely wasn't booed, just groaning and shouting everytime something went wrong for him. Given he was attacking the wing closest to the fans I'm assuming he could hear it.

I haven't checked the stats but he has the most assists in the squad by some distance, he must be on at least 5 or 6 I would have thought.

He's comfortably one of our best players.

nobody expects a flare player to be on fire for 90 minutes. He is a great talent and has immense potential, but to full fill that he has to be more consistent and not just for 10 minutes. Also when it isn't going well his effort and body language has to be better.

His first half performance was shocking on Saturday by anyone's standard and was lucky to stay on the pitch. Credit to him he made some good runs in the second half and had two assists.

He was actually helped by the arrival of Kent who drew three players onto him creating gaps for, Murphy Vincelot Job and Armstrong. The energy of JOB also gave him needed support.

Murphy is a talent, but Saturday first half performance was below what is required from any player, even a flare player. He needs to be having at least a spell of good play in each half. Something he needs to work on. I actually thought the crowd only got impatient with him in the last 5 of the 45. It was frustration with his attitude rather than a poor performance.

He probably needs to be a bit cleverer when taking on his full back, at least early on in the game against players who can come close to matching his pace. Generally his dribbling technique is kick it past the defender and run as fast as you can. Its why he comes into his own late on against tired legs as they can't keep up with him whereas early on when the opponent energy levels are high they are better equipped to deal with his threat.

I also wouldnt get on anyone's back if they were having a bad game IF they were still putting the effort in... the trouible with murphy in that first half was that he simply wasnt ( or didnt appear to be ) and for a young lad , full of energy, putting the effort in should be the easy bit!
