There is absolutely nothing more Grendel than the hypocrisy of hating on a very talented player who you accuse of not running around enough, and instead choosing to fully back someone who runs around a lot but lacks quality. It's almost like there might be a forward player with comparable attributes that you have absolutely pillared. Who cares though, eh? Ensuring status as Mr Go-Against-the-Grain and never back down is the most important part. When you’ve got one midfielder whose like the Prince Regent and needs runners to do his work for him and another not exactly blessed with speed and quick movement it’s not that surprising
I actually think Sheaf's dipped a bit from last season - first half against Hudds his passing was very poor, and first third of this season in particular, Allen was more effective. You say that - I’ve always been a sheaf fan. But I counted on at least 3 occasions in the first half he played suicide passes to Allen who took the brunt from the fans for losing the ball
7 goals in 100 appearances for an AM is not impressive. (at least 1 was against a non league side)5 goals and 2 assists?

An absolute pathetic and dare I say embarrassing post.Well, that's how it feels. Lets look at his rap sheet.
Can't pass
Can't tackle
Can't shoot
Not quick enough to get onto otherwise excellent passes
Mentally challenged
Half of this is nonsense.
He's had a funny run here in the Championship years. First season it was decided he was useless, and he was indeed often anonymous. That was often because we couldn't impose ourselves on games, and he's not a midfielder to take the game by the scruff of the neck. The following season it was decided around here he was good, and then this season (despite often being one of our more effective players) he's now responsible for Brexit, Covid, the cost of living crisis, and the revival of Donald Trump. It's odd because we've actually had incremental progression where he settles more.
This is by no means to suggest he's a footballing God - he has flaws like any player at this level, but he's by no means a waste of space, and has shown himself deserving of a regular place in our midfield.
The can't pass? if we like stats then the last game, where supposedly he was awful, he had the highest pass accuracy rate of the starting 11. He can pass, he often makes lovely through balls to Gyokeres in particular. What he does do however is try and increase the tempo - it's often said we look pondorous and only look better when we speed up our passing, this is true. Often, it's Allen who's trying the first time plays to get us moving. That increases the likelihood of it not looking so assured. It should also be noted his role in the team, which is clearly to keep the midfield ticking, play simply, allow Hamer to be the creative force (which, incidentally, excuses Hamer's low pass completion rate as he's trying the ambitious much of the time. it's worth noting if Allen had that percentage he'd be slaughtered). Robins himself has also noted that Allen is a good technician. Add in the corner challenge they did years ago and, while none of them excelled particularly, beyond Hamer Allen was a notable runner up in his ability to bend the ball towards goal. He *can* pass, but his role isn't given to be stood on the ball and dictate and it would be silly for it to be so, because Hamer does that bloody well.
Can't tackle? More of a case on the surface as he certainly doesn't dove in. However, it also looks obvious that's not his role. his role is to harry, be a barrier in front of the opposition player, and slow them up so the team as a whole can get into position. he does that effectively. That also means that the team is more ready to knock back opposition attacks. Defending from the front is as much why we had that great defensive record before Christmas as the role of the defenders - the reason the defenders could be in a difficult to break down block is as much because of this tactic. Without O'Hare, that's solely down to Allen, and it's a role he does well - don't look to the lack of tackling in isolation.
Can't shoot? Undoubtedly times he scuffs shots, but who doesn't? What he does have is five goals already this season. There have been a couple of bludgeoned shots charged down. It's fair to say shooting could be better, but... he has taken to scoring goals this season, and is currently at about par of what you'd expect for a midfielder. Also worth noting his role is to break the lines, run beyond the striker, which he often does but isn't picked up by our players either... or we have the ludicrous suggestion there are brilliant passes, but it's Allen's fault for not being quick enough to get onto them. Much as with us, the solid defensive line of the opposition can be difficult to break down - going beyond the forwards is something few of our players do, and even if the ball doesn't get to Allen it can stretch the opposition back line, throw them out of shape a little.
It is however true that he has been responsible for genocides in both Rwanda and Cambodia, and was also Hitler's chauffeur.
Ah yet another intelligent, well thought out response. I can only assume that Jamie Allen was your teacher at school. An absolute pathetic and dare I say embarrassing post.
Get a life ffs.

He's the obvious player we need to replace if we want to progress.
But in the interest of balance and fairness I will say that he gives 100% I can't fault him for that.
He's just not top 6 championship standard, and if that's where we want to be, we need someone better.
Are you suggesting that Allen is a better player than O'hare.how many has O Hare?
Give up on what? Putting more than two words together? Using big words? Actually considering how a player fits into a team...?Give up, you’re pathetic and sadly your post is liked.
Are you suggesting that Allen is a better player than O'hare.
Or is your measure of a players contribution measured purely on goals? If it is then Sheaf is fooked!
Hate what player ?Give up on what? Putting more than two words together? Using big words? Actually considering how a player fits into a team...?
I find it a little bit sad and, dare I say it, pathetic, that somebody can hate a player so much with so little reason behind it that they can only come up with the responses you have.
Wtf!!!! No I didn't!!! You mentioned goals in post #32 go have a look.no but you mentioned goals not me!
Well you clearly find Allen to be utter shit, beneath contempt, from your responses to this thread. You're just a pathetic little man aren't you, clueless really.Hate what player ?
Are you on drugs?Have you bumped your head in the night ? The more you say the more retarded you seem to be.

You're on drugs too, aren't you!You cant just say he’s guilty of war crimes, you can say you think a player isnt that good but you’ve gone over the top for no reason, we won our last game its fine. He’s scored 4 goals and got 2 assists this season, he’s been alright but in my opinion should only be a squad player. Not his fault he’s fallen into being picked regularly
I got a Busted song in my head reading thatDo remember also that he is of Romanian heritage and his great great great great great great great great great grandfather was Vlad The Impala
You’re the one thats being extreme, chill out fella. Extreme accusationYou're on drugs too, aren't you!
No, Grendel brought goals up in post #32Wasn't it just you measuring Allen on goals?
Fair play for this thread though, it's got some whoppers in the net. Reminds me of something like the walking dead where they trap all the zombies.
A reasonable post.Jamie Allen does a key role for the team which is why Robins consistently keeps playing him week in week out and has given him the captains armband. He's started every league game and only Vik and Bidwell have played more minutes than him this season.
If O'Hare was fit, Palmer would drop out and Allen would continue to start, because his pressing is key to the high intensity way we set up to play, and he is the only midfielder we have that will make runs beyond the strikers. In fact I can see Palmer dropping out when Godden starts games and we to 2 up top.
Is Allen a technically better footballer than Palmer? No. But is he important to the way we play football? Yes.
