cool story broGodden isn’t comparable to Patterson. Godden was younger, in a position where you can play older, had longer on his contract, was on the up and performing. Patterson is Waghorn Mk2
Have it on rather good authority now the agreement is imminent.
Loan with a view to permanent.
Irrelevant of course. Thanks I feel way better about Hilssner now
I hope he's paying us for the honour or a few on here are gonna explode.Have it on rather good authority now the agreement is imminent.

So we pay the loan fee then

Have a look at Paterson vs Waghorn last season. Paterson 9 goals and 9 assistsGodden isn’t comparable to Patterson. Godden was younger, in a position where you can play older, had longer on his contract, was on the up and performing. Patterson is Waghorn Mk2
This idea that all 31 year olds are like Waghorn is ridiculous. I have no idea whether Patterson is worth it or not. However, most footballers go on to be ok in their 30s and there have been plenty of over 30s we have bought who have turned out to be excellent signings. Some players fall away quickly around 30 but most are fine for at least another 3-4 years.Have a look at Paterson vs Waghorn last season. Paterson 9 goals and 9 assists

Except Godden was decidedly not on the up. He had been deemed surplus to requirements at Peterborough and was squeezed out by Toney and Eisa.
It turned out well for him and us but we paid a repeorted £750k on a Peterborough reserve in League One. I don’t know what this means about Paterson but as for Godden your assessment of where he was in 2019 is just wrong.

Paterson got more goals and assists last season than Waghorn got in the last 3 seasons.
you don’t like players who can’t establish themselves and end up getting paid off then? He’d moved from NL to L2 to L1 and scored 14 goals the season before. He was improving his standing, which he continued with us scoring 14 in fewer games then getting promoted to the Championship.
Patterson has bummed around a bunch of Championship clubs being consistently let go because he can’t get in the side. First at Forest, then Huddersfield didn’t take up the option to buy after a loan, then again at Brizzle with rumoured attitude issues where he was loaned out again before being let go to Swansea where he’s been bomb squadded after more attitude issues and looks like being let go for a knock down price well before his contract is up.
Peterborough got Ivan Toney in and Godden got dropped to the bench after a brilliant start to the season. It’s not even close to the same.

You're being ridiculous. Waghorn scored a pen and contributed fuck all for 2 seasons. Paterson had 18 goal involvements last seasonWaghorns got more goals in fewer minutes this season though…
For the same reason people get hung up about Hilssner - if you’re going to throw around £400k when you’re in our financial position then you better get it right.

You're normally good with stats and using them in context but I think you know this one is meaningless.Waghorns got more goals in fewer minutes this season though…
Well Hilssner takes all kind of flak for being paid £200k a year for doing nothing, but according to you it’s a small, nominal sum, so what’s the big problem? What has hillsner got to do with anything
He scored 5 in his final year at Derby. He only really had one quite good goalscoring year at this level with Ipswich. He's normally a 1 in 5 games striker. He was clearly on the decline when we signed him and sounds like we basically paid well over the odds salary wise for him. He genuinely didn't have one good game for the club. Paterson would be an improvement on what we have. Would like us to try for Ayoub Assal at Wimbledon.Waghorn had 10 the season before we signed him and 16 before that.
Last season was by far Paterson’s best ever for goal involvements.
It looks like a lot of his relatives/bezzy mates do.I really hope Paterson doesn't read this forum.
