Jordan Clarke to be dropped from match day squad (1 Viewer)

Given the new arrival of a much needed decent centre half (I’m hoping!), it’s been reported that Jordan will be dropped from the match day squad.

Personally, I think Jordan strengthens the team when he comes on as a sub. When starting games he has sometimes struggle but he's by no means the worst player in city’s match day squad. Jordan has a football brain but is still learning his trade so mistakes are bound to happen.

If Wood was fit, I'm sorry but the Edj has to make way. The Edj has established himself a nice Twitter following and he seems a generally nice guy BUT his lack of winning headers and his inability to defend when strikers are bearing down on him means he should drop out of the match day squad for me. His positioning sense is also a major concern.

Cameron doesn’t escape either. This lad is purely and simply a hoofer, get it smash it. His heading is comical at times, often heading the ball 30ft in the air but actually only covering probably 10 yards of the pitch, he gets no distance, just height. Don’t get me started on that attempted clearance Saturday!

Wood is by far the most consistent of the 3 centre halves and all though he’s a hoofer, he can actually read the game and his heading is far better than Edj and Cameron.

With the above mentioned, Jordan actually put in a good shift at Centre half at Crewe last Wednesday and this boy actually has a football brain. His head is always up ready to play a nice pass, something I like to see. If I had to pick between the Edj, Cameron or Clarke to play alongside Wood, I’m afraid on recent showings, It’s a wood and Clarke combo far me. I know this goes against what you would normally see at centre half but given are leaking goals, edj and Cameron’s lack of ability as mentioned above, Clarke would be certainly no worse.

Lastly Jordan also has the ability to play in a wider position given the nature of his game and the speed he possesses, something Edj and Cameron simply don’t offer. Jordan has more to his game and covers more positions and for that reason, he stays in my match day squad.

Im interested to see what others think but only reply if its constructive, back up your thoughts.

Cheers all

or Edj right wing!!!!!

If Clarke is dropped i will feel sorry for the lad.

He was rightly dropped a few months ago because he appeared to be struggling but im sure this lad will grow into a good player for CCFC.

Where has it been reported? Or is it your conclusion that this will happen? I would think Willis would be the player who will drop out of the squad, and Clarke plus 1 centr back will be on the bench.

"Martin’s arrival means that Jordan Willis, an unused substitute on Saturday, is likely to drop out of the first-team squad but Carlsey stressed: "Jordan has got a massive future at this club and I am not sure with 12 games to go that it’s the best time to put him in."

"It’s the same with Callum Wilson because it could go either way and it’s important that we don’t spoil them or wreck them."

Our failings at the back and our lack of ability from set pieces also concern me greatly.

Yep right mate, my mistake.

Im glad it isnt Jordan Clarke who's going to make way but I feel for Jordan Willis.

Bit too young to start or even come on for his 1st league appearance this season v Borunemouth away, too much I feel... Although it's probably too much for Edj as well.

Have to say you got it spot on with 50p head Cameron and his distrubution of the ball is awful. In my opinion Clarke is just an average player and between them I can't see any improvement over the last couple of years to suggest they will be good players in future.

1. Even my 9 year old calls him 50p head now he sat and tried to rationalize Cameron’s performance on Sat and even his optimistic young brain could not find a positive.

is that serious? If so, based on what?

I'd like to J Clarke on the right wing, always thought he would be more effective there than at RB.

He has the technique and ability to play on the wing for sure, was used there this season at Doncaster and did very well, excellent drilled cross for a Mcgoldrick goal

I'm not too bothered. I just don't think he's very good.
