Jordan Clarke (2 Viewers)

I dont understand what everyone sees in him. I like to see youngsters come through, but he is just not good enough. Too weak, cant control a ball, awful in the air & missed an absolute sitter at the Riverside! Defo keogh there all next season & flog him off to someone in the lower leagues

No, No, No. Clarke has come on leeps and bounds since january. I agree wiv Keogh being first choice right back, and we have to give youngsters ago to try and improve. He needs 2 get games and experience under his belt, so if we could afford to, i would send him out on loan. But that was a shocker against Middlesborough

I'd prefer to see him stay at right back rather than going on the overlap. I know that's what the tactics have needed im to do because it is a diamond formation, but he just gives the ball away too easily for my liking.

Most improved player IMO we need to keep him... remember what we all said about Ben Turner

Jordon Clarke is one of the best players i have seen come from our academy in recent years, and in my eyes will only get better and better! Flogging him is the last thing we should be thinking of doing!

we all said that about grandison at times last season....

Grandison????!!!! Don't you mean Cameron?

Clarke is looking much more reliable in his recent stint in the team. This was forced upon us due to injury and he has done fine. The fact he was in that position to even score at 'borough is a testiment to him. I still think that Keogh is probably the best player to play on the right but only because we have decent centre backs to come in so it will be Clarke who is pushed out. I am more than happy to have him as cover for injuries.

clarke has been great this last half of the season he may of missed that sitter against middlesbourgh but remember him putting two blocks in an open goal cant remember against who but he's a great player

He kept Jobi McAnuff quiet when we played Reading, and is getting better the more he plays. His cross to King in the same game was sublime - King should have buried it.

Oh, and he's 19 years old and an England international.

And you think we should sell him...........

Do you work for Sisu? Are you on the board? Let's sell our best players? Awesome rise to fame second half of the season. Jordan Clarke will be a star IMHO.

I like him a lot, lots if energy, not afraid to get stuck in and quick. I thought his distribution was his weakness but that improved with games. In the last home game his passing was outstanding.

Just like critical fans to judge a right backs career so far on one chance in front of goal. Like said above, home grown international!!!! Plus you can use him higher up the field in front of Keogh if needed.

Asked a mate to watch him at Boro this season as he is a season ticket holder and an ex pro up there, this was to get a outside opinion of Clarke as he divides alot of our fans. Anyway after the game called me up and remarked that he thought Clarke looked very athletic, quick, decent enough on the ball and keen to get forward. The downsides were his positional sense and his over eagerness to win every ball even if he had no chance of winning it, basically diving in. So overall his opinion was positive as the downsides in his opinion will get better with games and experience and most importantly confidence.

I really like him, has the potential to be really good i think. Let's not forget that that he's still really young and likely wouldn't have played this year if it wasn't for injuries. But i still think he showed huge improvements towards the end of the season and even legitimately started to earn his place at RB. Got good pace and can tackle really well. I wouldn't read too much into his miss v Boro. The most accomplished of players miss sitters, let alone youngsters that play at the back! Think it's incredibly harsh to write him off at this point. And tbh i'd rather keep him at City too then loan him off.

We do get over excited about players here. Personally i wouldnt sell him yet, adequate cover player. Don t see what some people are describing but might as well give him a go, might have a dramatic turner style change

Don't understand the mindset of our so called supporters that want to use a forum like this to knock a youngster?

Maybe some fans are not old enough to look back at what they had achieved at Jordan's age (19)......

He is a great prospect, has lots of skill, and the ability to open defences for us. Look at his overall game and contribution to the way we are now playing, he can iron out his flaws as he gets experience.

No doubt those who knock are the same ones who had a go at Ben Turner?

Get behind the team, not on people's backs!

I think its a tad harsh to say that he's not a Championship standard player, but everyones entitled to their opinion.
When he first came into the 1st team, he looked good. He was keen, eager and didn't look out of place. Then the few games he played early this season, he played very poorly and did cost us a few goals. However, after getting a place back in the side, he really has stepped up his game and played very well.
He is by no means the finished article, but the lads 19 and if he keeps working hard, he could be a very good player for us. It may be beneficial for him to have a full season, playing week in week out in League 1/2 though, if we had a big enough squad to do so that is.

a forum is a place for opinions and observations. I don't see it YET. Worth holding on to and see how he develops

One of the most improved players under Thorn, and that's 'cos he needed a manager who believes in him and gives him confidence. You can tell that when you hear him interviewed. He bad touches tend to be in the first five minutes (nerves, ie youth?) and are increasingly rare-usually no more than any player has per game, and I include King in that.

He doesn't get skinned anymore, makes strong and hard tackles, has had wingers who usually rip us to shreds "in his pocket" (eg McAnuff), gets forward well, can cross, can reach the byline at pace, regularly finds space on the overlap, links well with midfield and is clearly suited to the "pass and move game", and scored one of our goals of the season. Oh, and for his entire football career he has been rated the best Englsih RB at his age group IN THE COUNTRY. Worth thinking about, eh?

I'm more worried that he won't sign the new deal as someone bigger and better than us has spotted he's available for peanuts!

If I'm honest I don't think he has looked that good at times but then there are moments in games where he does look ok. With him being young and coming through our youth team, he should be given the time to come good imo

Defensively he is pretty good. Very strong for someone of his size, and very quick. Decent at tackling as well, but he dives in too much and gets too tight to his man which he needs to stop. Going forward he provides good pace on the overlap but he has no composure on the ball whatsoever and seems to panic a little and give the ball away.

I think he'll have a pretty good season though next year. AT seems to like him.

All i'm saying is, im not sure he is quite the player we all think he is. I'd love him to prove me wrong & do what ben turner did. But to do that, i think he needs a season in the lower leagues

Y'see, I see going in hard and getting tight to his man as being major strengths of his. The winger rarely gets space, they often try to move down the other flank instead as a result, he intercepts the ball regularly, moves are stopped before they start, players tend to not run at him as often, etc. One thing to bear in mind is that wingers are rarely known for their bravery or tenacity. Partly why Pearce was such a great full-back. A couple of tough challenges sees a lot of skillfull wide men disappear from the game. EG McAnuff (or Julian Gray!) As this is something Clarke has added to his game under Thorn (Hussey does it too), I would imagine he's under instructions to go in hard.

He has done a good job as cover for us, he is not ready to play a full championship season as 1st choice yet but is definitely worth keeping and developing over the next couple of years

We need someone to go into challenges and thats what he does some of our full backs just back off and allow them to come forward and get a shot away

people hated me on 606 because i said the same about clarke OP

he isnt good enough it seems, but some fans have blinkers on when it comes to academy players

however he did impress me vs reading so maybe there is hope yet,id like to see him again next year and see if he progresses

It's not that he isn't good enough, it's that it's far too early to cast aside a player clearly rated by the coaching staff at the club.
