If we have to have one of the two loanee Wbs back next season, definitely prefer him to Cuffy.

JWE looks like he has something about him, way off the finished stride but definitely got potential.

I guess it's just me, but I think at times he looks reluctant to push on ahead of the opposition fullback to receive the ball behind (as highlighted by the ball Gyok left for him to run onto and he didn't against Watford), and although he does seem to be willing to take a player on he doesn't have particularly quick feet or bags of pace.

Some of that might be him settling in and not wanting to be caught out, knowing his own defensive frailties, and as he becomes more confident we'll see him causing more problems.

I’d be well happy with JWE next season. Thought Monday was his best game for us so far by a mile - even though first half he did give the ball away a couple of times cheaply.

Doyle is absolute quality in my eyes and will be a cracking player. I like with him as well how he takes no shit from any one - likes to have a bit of afters with a dig with an arm - there was one moment Monday where a Watford player went down easily and he really gave him some shit for it.
I think we will see a 25-30 yard thunderbolt from him go in the top corner before the seasons out as well.

Thought he generally had a great game against Watford. Took the game to them and gave them something to think about. As for his defending that can improve but also we have to learn to cover him when he’s on a charge.

Very useful when on the front foot, in games when we aren’t I’d be more inclined to play Bidwell or Dasilva if rumours are true

Rumours suggest that DaSilva is nailed on, and Bidwell will be off. It nearly happened in January. I guess JWE will be competing with Dasilva for LWB next season then. I like Bidwell but if we're playing with wing backs we need a more offensively minded player

My problem with both of them is the way they pull out of any sort of a challenge.
I don’t expect them to go charging in but for balls 60-40 in their favour, I would expect some sort of an effort.

Watford was his best game but he was in part to blame for both their goals.
I just don't think I've seen enough to want him for another season. If he was one of our young players I'd be excited about what he might become but not sure he offers enough star quality for a loan.
Wouldn't be upset if he came back, I just think we can do better.

I would of thought MR and staff have a pretty big board full of names and back up plans for every situation including promotion, extra income and outcomes of ongoing talks with existing players. He will want to get to move on some quickly but all is going to be determined on outcome of season and contract talks with current squad members.

JWE will be on the board im sure and the more he plays the more he looks capable of doing well. He is learning on the job which is no bad thing and you can see he has room to grow. I watch him and think he is reactionary more than instinctive, which says he is not a natural or he is showing his inexperience. Either way i think he has shown enough to pursue MR to try to bring him back and develop more. He knows the place the players and the staff now and is getting used to a system which MR will not change. So in my opinion he is worth bringing back and if Doyle comes with him id be more than happy with that start to the summer.

He does but he's not nearly attacking enough and it seems Robins is not happy with his attacking output. Swansea were also quite happy to let him go as he was not what they wanted at wing back (they were happy to offer him a deal as back up though).

Now admittedly JWE has played a couple of sub appearances at AM to skew this a little, but his attacking stats are much higher than Bidwell's.

If you look at Adaramola, JWE , Dasilva and Bidwell, 1 on certain attributes stands out as not being the same. Its up to the individual to have an opinion on what they are and who that is.

Bidwell has also played more minutes then 90 percent of the squad i would imagine. I have no issue with Bidwell but it seems MR is going younger and more athletic to push higher up the field. So its nothing against Bidwell its just what a coach sees as an improvement in that area of the pitch.

If you watch when Bidwell plays, he is often one of the players furthest forward.

The whole "he doesn't attack" is a myth.

It’s not that he doesn’t get forward, it’s that his attacking numbers are pretty rubbish.

Yeah can see that, but what you and i see matters as much as a fart in a hurricane. MR looks like he is going younger and more athletic, its not really up for debate its for all to see. And Bidwell would of gone if we had got Dasilva in Jan. The signs are there, he likes the Mattsen type for the way he wants to play.

Yeah, they aren't rubbish at all. It may be fair to say however, that how we play atm, Robins likes wing backs that carry the ball. Bidwell is a bit like Kane in that he has an excellent cross, but isn't the option to progress you up the pitch from defence, necessarily.

That being said, we'd know that when we signed both him and Kane...

I don't know what his numbers were then, maybe he has regressed, maybe Robins knew exactly what he was signing but wants to go in a different direction now. We don't know.

But the fact is Bidwell's attacking stats are very poor this season.

Bidwell's ball retention is excellent, he very rarely gives it away.
Slight headache is that quite often it slows the attack down by going backwards.
He's not one for beating his man, but he's pretty much a 7 out 10 every week.
Personally I'd put him on set pieces, great shape and delivery.
I believe Gus wastes alot of our set plays.
