Just catching up on the football league show and they've just put up a graphic about transfer window spend in the 2nd tier leagues.

The championship - £100m
Germany - £25.5m
Serie B - £14.4m
Spain - £3.65m
ligue 2 - £730k

Ridiculous.

Aren't there a lot more clubs in the Championship than those other leagues. How are the figures PER TEAM?

There would have to 3 teams in Spain and 6 in Germany for parity so I'm struggling with your logic.

They do seem extraordinary low though, like there Is some anomally at this point ,possibly the weakness of the Euro or economic conditions.
Ours are ludicrous though.

Edit. To average spend per team

So championship clubs spent x3 what German clubs spent, x7 what Italian clubs spent x22 what Spanish clubs spent and c x115 what French clubs spent

Game's going mad. Tbf though the Italian figure is perhaps more surprising. Has anyone seen that League? The football is dreadful. Take out two or three clubs and the attendances are lower than L2. Some of our 5th tier sides get more than 3 quarters of that league.

I assume that's just the transfer window just gone ?

Not only does it highlight the madness of transfer fees in the Championship (and above) but it also highlights the gulf in financial resource that any L1 team has to bridge when getting promoted.

It can not be sustainable can it ? and yet year after year it continues
