He looks good, but he’s no Roger van Gool.Hmm we don't have a great record with signing from abroad in recent years but he looks a decent player. Would be interesting to see if he comes in as first choice or not.
Thank Christ for that !!He looks good, but he’s no Roger van Gool.
Signing a goalscorer now doesn't make up for the fact that we've gone the whole of pre-season without one and took nearly a month to replace McNulty. Hopefully he can hit the ground running but it could take him a while to gel which could be troublesome early doors.
Has anyone heard bollucks quite like this before hahaha
No, you're right. Obviously, we shouldn't have signed him. But now that we have, we'll just have to put up with it - and keep using that gel on those squeaky doors. A pre-season with the gel can would have fixed that!
Where did I say we shouldn't have signed him? Fucking hell, it's impossible to have an opinion on here that isn't just blind positivity isn't it. Surprisingly it's possible for something to happen that isn't just a "good thing" or a "bad thing". Am I happy we've signed him? Yes. Do I think he's a decent player? Yes. Would I have preferred him to have come in a few weeks ago so he could get used to playing in the team ready for the start of the season? Yes. It's like doing all your revision for an exam the night before, yeah sure you might still pass but you'd have had a much higher chance if you'd properly prepared. No, you're right. Yet another poster who simply insults instead of trying to provide a counter argument, but that's all this forum is. Get with the hivemind or get attacked for not, kind of pathetic really.Give it a rest you cockwomble

It gets boring when you're constantly being negative, no wonder you get "attacked" a lot. In an ideal world every fan would love to have all the transfers done in the first week of the transfer window but this isn't the case. Look at the Prem and how many deals are still being brought through...its not just us.Yet another poster who simply insults instead of trying to provide a counter argument, but that's all this forum is. To be fair, you are consistently proven wrong. Go from goalpost to goalpost whinging.
Going on and on about no striker coming in, we get one in and you move the goalposts and whinge about something else.
Pretty sure i've seen him on twitter and he's only a kid to be fair to him.We need to work out which one of the "usuals" he is on the CWR phone in

I've maintained from the start that I was unhappy that we hadn't brought a striker in earlier, so yes, I wasn't expecting us to get one in yesterday and I'm pleasantly surprised that we have but that doesn't change the fact that we've taken so long to do so. The post in this thread that seems to have upset so many people was simply me responding to another poster who asked me a direct question about what I thought of our transfer strategy now we'd signed Hiwula and that hasn't changed. I'm still of the mindset that we shouldn't have sold McNulty if we didn't have someone lined up to come in within the next week or so, and I still think it's poor business to wait this long to add a vital component to the squad. You'l often find in football that the team who have prepared the best do the best, especially in the lower leagues. To be fair, you are consistently proven wrong. You can shut that 'never been to the Ricoh' shite down right away considering I'm a season ticket holder chief. Yet again zero response to my argument, just spouting more shite.Do you have just been posting negative bollocks all the fucking time kid. Oh we haven't signed a striker, oh we have signed a striker but still, oh i've never been to the ricoh, oh i can't wait to call the phone in, oh fuck off
Hivemind as well, ffs
It's not the fact we're doing deals late, that's fine. It's the fact we're replacing probably our most important player from last season so late into the window. I doubt there is a single Premier League club who've sold their top goalscorer from last season and is yet to replace them. You can't just do everything last minute because eventually it'll catch up with you. We've learnt this so many times in the past when we've bought late. Thankfully Hiwula is a decent player so it's not our usual panic loanee from a higher division but it could have been. The longer you leave it the more desperate it gets and the less prepared your team is going into the season. We're already at a disadvantage to most teams because we've had a shorter pre-season due to winning the play-offs and it doesn't help when key components of our team haven't been around for it.It gets boring when you're constantly being negative, no wonder you get "attacked" a lot. I don’t care if he scores 25 goals this season FP and we get promoted. We should have left signing him until next June so he could have the all important pre-season with us.
Christ, like talking to 8 year olds on here. Only hear what they want to hear and then twist the argument to fit their narrative without actually countering any of the points made.I don’t care if he scores 25 goals this season FP and we get promoted.
NOTHING will make up for the pre season he missed. Nothing.

To answer the question about Armstrong earlier in the thread, we signed him with 11 days to go until the start of the season, so he at least played in a friendly and had a full weeks training to get to know his new teammates/for the manager to have a look at him and to see how to best use him.

I literally said this in my last response to you but I've been criticising how long it took us to sign a striker since before Hiwula sign, this isn't a brand new argument. Pompey aren't in the same situation as us because they've not sold their best player to the first bidder, they trying to offload a substitute striker and sign a better replacement. Not really comparable. There are multiple reasons why selling McNulty and then waiting a month to sign a replacement is a bad thing, but you'll probably just accused me of changing my argument again instead of listening to what I say.Aren't you the one twisting the narrative by going on and on about not signing a striker and as soon as we do you moan about how late it is? If we had held onto McNulty until we had a replacement like you wanted then it still would have been late and we may potentially be in the position Pompey are now in.

How about this then Nick, I'll only make positive posts on this forum for the next fortnight and you'll agree to actually listen to my arguments instead of ignoring the key points?

Or how about instead of whinging as much as possible you wait and see what happens before?
Match threads last season were the same, concede a goal and you were all over it.
Pompey are in the situation now where they have a player who doesn't want to be there and the team who were interested in him have moved and signed somebody else.
Yep, however I don't just appear when we concede and rant then vanish if we winIn fairness, just like myself you do love a good meltdown when we concede too!
But we did have a replacement lined up in Chaplin, unfortunately Pompey played silly buggers. Took your advice about hanging on until replacement is in. Guess what? They delayed, we moved on and now they are stuck with an unhappy player who knows wasn’t wanted!! Us meanwhile, have sold and replaced with a decent (proof is in the pudding) player. Who is better off, them or us?Christ, like talking to 8 year olds on here. Why you pushing the Brexit thread so much, what's your agenda?I get your point totally, I've had the same concerns.
Thing is, now we have brought a striker in, and it looks like another may follow. We need to let it go now and give them a chance. I think this squad is actually really strong. Providing the strikers get going we can really challenge this season.
If you do want to have a moan though, I know just the place... Brexit thread!

He was having fun with you Charlie. Relax and have a light hearted dig now and then. It's a long old season and if you start at 95% wound up, you'll implode before long.
