Shouldn't the intent to be get Sisu out instead of keeping cov in cov, you might say it's the same thing but it's not because shouldn't we let Sisu know that we won't be attending their new stadium that way they have no business plan and we will be rid of them. Rather than saying we will boycott until the new ground is built then we will be back. I do not want to see Sisu lump us with yet more debt by building a new ground when there's a perfectly good one in coventry. Yes ACL are no saints both need to grow up and think of us fans. But isn't forcing Sisu out even when their super stadium is built better than just aiming to get is within the area of cov?

Forgive me, I simply don't believe people when they say that. If it was announced tomorrow that Coventry Rugby Club and CCFC were going to jointly develop BPA into a 22K capacity superbowl made of chicken tikka you would not go? Sorry, don't buy it.

Thats a step back from 32K stadium and puts us firmly in Championship at best. So no .

Being against the idea of it is one thing, but you would still go surely? You wouldn't refuse to go to watch Coventry in Coventry because you didn't think the ground was big enough, would you?

At the moment no. By the time its ready I will have moved on. Already not planning around CCFC as I have done since the 60's.

Can I suggest that someone able to give up on their football club so easily isn't really all that arsed about it in the first place? Seems a reasonable assumption to make. I do admire your complete and unquestioning loyalty to the Ricoh Arena though, so perhaps you can get an ACL season ticket and sit and watch the admin team takes bookings for exhibitions for a couple hours a week

No, I'm not happy with it and it's got nothing to do with a lack of aspiration, so don't put words into my mouth.. However, it's a fact of life for Coventry City. Apart from our few seasons at the Ricoh our gates have never been particularly high.

Been arsed as you said since 1967. I have my memories where we have been and I'll leave it at that.

Fair enough, just that you're the only one that has openly admitted that they will move on a find something else to do if the club don't return quickly, or if they return to a new ground. I find that curious, and have never heard that from a football fan before (people do drift away of course, but it isn't really a conscious decision, and yet you seem to be almost planning it), but it's your life, not a criticism.

Not happy but took early retirement bought a VW camper and now touring all the time.

Would suggest these consistently low gates throughout the years are due to the depressing stat of never finishing in the top 6 for more than 40 years. Even with moderate success (Cup semi final/final appearances/Play off qualification/top 6 finish) a city of 315,000 people should get a full, or near full house for a Stadium the size of the Ricoh, on at least 2 occasions per season.

Been at work so only just read the replies, I'm split on wether I would go to a new ground if Sisu were still in charge I don't think I would 5 years with no home games (for me anyway) and then prospect of going to a third rate ground to watch a team that (may or may not) have been constantly stripped to its bare bones. It's also a logistical thing I'm from nuneaton so if the ground was on the opposite side of cov to the Ricoh be difficult as I'm a bar manager and start work at 6 on a Saturday and I struggle as it is to make it from the Ricoh

There are no plans, there will be no "new ground", they have no interest in the football team, they ARE using the football club as a corporate debt dump.
SISU may have had the Ricoh and the surrounds in their sights initially but they can pile far more debt onto CCFC than they could ever have made, either by owning and / or eventually cashing in on selling the Ricoh.
Work it out, you don't have to be a financial whizz to see that there is no financial gain in owning a third rate football club, they will never get their hands on the Ricoh (the council have just as much stated that), so for what reason would they be sticking around?
Fund the club for the next five years...my arse!
What they really mean is lend it more money from their own companies to the ever increasing debt mountain.
I really feel for the young football fans living in Coventry, they will not have the chance to "belong" as most of us on here do(which ever way you feel about the current fiasco-we are all city fans).
There will be no great memories for them like some of us have had the good fortune to have, like beating the Arsenals, Man Uniteds and Cheseas, or seeing some of the "greats" Best,Charlton,Moore,Banks,Gascoigne,Shearer and the influx of foreign stars like Henry,Bergkamp,Cantona,Zola all of which were put to the sword by the mighty Sky Blues!!
The move back to the Ricoh is imperative if any of us ever garner a hope of some day that the club may once again return to the top tier, certainly not the premise of building something that only exists in the spin of a hedge fund puppet to pacify the Football League.
I have always thought in the past how difficult it must be for the "stay away" supporters to not want to come back into the fold as such, and I could never have imagined myself losing that skyblueness (!) but the old saying of "absence makes the heart grow stronger" is being severely tested for me I guess.

So KCIC v SISU out.. just f**k off Seppalla, I need my football club back.

Fuck me. Imagine the traffic. I'd get home from a Saturday game some time around Tuesday tea time.

Would rather its out the way a bit where roads can meet the demand. Maybe near a train station and a major motorway.

As for OP: until this rent crap I had no real issue with how the club was being run. This has damaged trust in Sisu and I think gates will suffer until they've gone, but KCIC is the most important thing.

Dont disagree. Low gates are historic, which is why I disagreed with italia's accusation of my lack of aspiration for my team.

There would be no traffic really. The ring road handles more vehicles during rush hour than you would get at a home fixture by a mile. Not that any of this will happen of course, but just saying.

To me its just get the Club back to the Ricoh.
After that lets work as one unity to remove the owners in the right way.

Seriously? What, outside of the Premiership? I could name many clubs that have catchment areas much bigger than ours that do not get close to gates of 32,500 - ever. The Bournemouth conurbation is bigger than Coventry, should they get 32,500 too? Birkenhead is about the same size, should Tranmere get those sort of gates? Huddersfield (Kirklees) is over 400,000, what about them? Yet again people grossly overstate the size of our catchment area.

I have the flexibility to do what I want. Always planned to be home for weekends to go to the matches home and away. Just back from Cornwall after nearly 3 weeks away (Never ever been away so long in the season).

The point I'm making is that I have other things to do but they were always second on my list.
I didn't even think about the matches when I went away this time.
Busfest last weekend so even away games this year are moving down my list.

Warwickshire + Coventry is a huge catchment area.

Not it isn't really. Take Leicester as an example - Leicestershire has a population of 1 million. Cov & Warks is 800,000 - but lets be honest, the people of Warwickshire (particularly in the far south and far north) do not associate or identify with Coventry in the same way that people in Leicestershire towns associate with Leicester. We have a smaller catchment area than them (I would argue a lot smaller), and therefore it stands to reason that our gates will be less than theirs, and historically that is the case (but only slightly).

Dorset has one league team - and a population of 700K, and yet that teams has gates miles and miles behind ours. Northants has one league side (cough), and a population of 700,000 - again, the team gets tiny gates. This "we should be getting massive gates" argument is nonsense.
